Title: What's the biggest mistake you've made on crypto?
Post by: Abiky on January 01, 2021, 05:56:05 PM
Whenever you're a newbie or an experienced veteran, there's always a point in time where you make a mistake in crypto land. After all, nobody is perfect. You might've lost all of your crypto holdings due to being careless, or simply lost an opportunity of a lifetime to grab huge profits. Mistakes happen all of the time, leading us to regret many decisions in the long run.

My biggest mistake in crypto was not having bought Bitcoin in its very beginnings. If I had bought plenty of Bitcoin back then when it was worth cents, I would've been a millionaire today. During my time in crypto land, I've became a victim of scams, hacks, and theft. Sometimes I've missed the opportunity of doubling my investment when an altcoin "pumped" on the market. At least, I've learned a valuable lesson. These past experiences helped me become a better person in the long run.

I'm curious to know: what's the biggest mistake you've made on crypto? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

The same regret as you are and also, the price when I've sold was too damn early. That are the two mistakes that I've done and I think other people of the forum will have the same mistakes done in his entire crypto journey. Lesson learned and a lot of things have changed, those experiences and mistakes made me now more decisive and firm if I'll come up with an idea whether to sell or not.

Biggest mistake was investing in Hashprofit. I wasn't that experienced in the crypto world and trapped in such a cloud mining scam.

Let me talk about my latest mistake and can as well be my biggest too - if you look at it from my present situation perspective - is not buying btc when it was down to 3500k in March last year, I was having such doubt in my mind if the price will go lower judging from all the things I read online,  now this has been my biggest mistake because I could have easily made the right decision but o didn't.

Particularly, it was investing all my financial power in just one project and for me it was a great bet that if there were victory, the story would be different. However, I learned that the best way is to alternate investments with a little caution and be humble to recognize my own mistakes. Another factor is to believe that everything is eternal in the crypto world and from December 2017 to January 2018 I learned this in a very painful way.

Nothing is eternal.

I don't know about people, but i always tell my close friends that i feel proud and lucky to be working in this space. But what it gives me and like many people are great, as you share, you feel the biggest mistake because you didn't buy bitcoin in the first place, i think so. But there is one thing that is emotional management, indeed after a long time in this market, i still cannot fully control my emotions, it's bad that i just lost a lot of money later but events happened to the market in recent days.

There have been many mistakes during my time in crypto whether in investing or trading, but the most impressive thing I will share here is that I was too fast to sell YFI for around $ 4000, even though I got a profit from the sale, to be honest I wanted to hold it longer because there was a need for it urgent so I had to sell it, and after that a month later the price jumped up to $ 30k which makes regret that still remains today.

Sold around 35 BTC @23k each and then i was also selling my altcoins like LINK that i have bought when it was still under 50 cents at $7. Shit, i can make 1 million dollars with it right now from those bitcoins but im still keep some.
That sucks i have been losing a lot probably a few hundred thousand dollars.  :'( :'( :'(
The worst thing that happened in my life.

I had lots of mistakes in cryptocurrency trading, many times due to investments turned into scams or yet dumped hard but out of all of those one thing that I regret the most is selling some airdrops or bounty tokens that have so much in value but I once sold is considered done. I've always have regrets on these past events about it. Keep reminiscing what if I didn't sell I have tons of money now or those I hold that I should have sold before.

In my own experience, one of the biggest regret was not investing on bitcoin last 2016. I had the chance since it was introduced to me from that time back then and I didn't pay any attention towards it amidst people making noise about it. I though it was just a usual digital coin but little did I know, it would be the biggest crypto in the making. If only I was able to buy as much as I can way back and hold it up until now or even just up until 2017, I'm definitely a millionaire already.

My Biggest mistake was also that I did not adopt bitcoin at early days. now I feel that I was so stupid to not do that. everything was obvious. it was so obvious that bitcoin is something which can grow in future give huge profit in return. but still so many people avoided it at that time and now they are regretting that.

Biggest mistake was investing in Hashprofit. I wasn't that experienced in the crypto world and trapped in such a cloud mining scam.

investing in cloud mining was also one of my worst experience and mistake. I would never do that again.

I think my main mistake is that i spent my btc and eth on useless projects and some have failed, some scammed and even those that are surviving their value in the market is low especially when we compare with the value of btc and eth that is available in the market and in coming months I expect bulls to get even more intense for btc and eth.

Same as everyone else - not having the foresight to see where Bitcoins would end up in December 2017, or now.

I've never actually bought any Bitcoins - but I get paid in them.
In December 2016 I sold 22Btc @ $766, and in April 2017 I sold 16 more @ $1,205.
These sales were at much higher values than when I received them, so I did make nice profit, but if only...  >:(

Also investing in alt-coins which have bombed  :(

We all have the same regret and that is selling at the wrong time, only those who can afford to embrace the philosophy of Hodling can hold on to their coins for a long period of time and sell it for profit, my biggest mistake of course selling at the wrong time but no regret I need the money so badly and selling is a life saver for me.

I don't think that not buying bitcoin can be one's biggest mistake. If it was all the people in the world would be able to say that because how many of us were able to buy in 2010? In 2009 there was almost no way to buy, you had to mine it, so we all could say that our biggest mistake was not mining it in 2009 :D

My biggest mistake was trying to trade it early on instead of buying and holding. I came here as a trader and tried many things like bounties altcoin investments, trading... The only smart thing to do was to buy bitcoin and hold it and I got to that a year after joining the forum.

My biggest mistakes:
1/ I wanted to enter in March 2017, but I did not: I've waited until Jan. 2018, the wrongest moment!
2/ I spent too much BTC and ETH in bullshit altcoins which collapsed.

Biggest mistakes! Mine in crypto-currency can not be said to be a big one, people have made mistakes trading and losing, I haven't traded in crypto-currency, people has been scammed by there insensitive, am glad to not be scammed, people may say they missed Bitcoin in years of Bitcoin low price, I missed that too but thats not a mistake on my part because I have to hear about it to join and if I had heard it then and not joined then it would be my biggest mistakes, so far am putting things step after steps.

Selling my BTC on MtGox for $5 a piece because I mined a block in less than a day on my computer and it seemed like a killer return.
Then probably investing in various ICOs and not dumping the alts when they pumped to get more BTC back.

Oh and spenting my BTC trying to buy miners from Butterflylabs instead of buying the the first Avalonminer. They got to market WAY sooner and by the time I got my piece of crap Butterflylabs miners the difficulty was sky high and I never made back what I bought them for.

So many stupid mistakes lol

The biggest mistake that OP experienced was the thing I experienced as well. Perhaps that regret comes today, when bitcoin’s price has soared,
and I sold bitcoin at a very cheap price in years past.  And  also I’ve  been in a hurry  to sell  my altcoins.  If I  could  hold it  until this  moment,
I have doubled my money. It’s a precious lesson for me.

Converting most of my crypto into Fiat and also not investing early,
I could also say that not holding or believing on it since I dump some of my crypto because I think that they wouldn't get any higher anymore.
I have so many mistake in crypto and because of those mistake I learn some lesson and I would use it to avoid repeating those mistakes again.

To be specific, it is failing to assess the credibility of a project which resulted in a substantial loss to me. Unfortunately, I lost a portion of my hard-earned money, as it turns out to be a scam. I regret it as I was foolish to believe a project that has an unbelievable claim of an easy profit but has no functionality. Regardless, it comprises a valuable lesson that I continue to apply thus far, and it fulfills a significant role in the development of my knowledge.

The main mistake of many beginners is not buying a promising coin in time. Doubts and fear of losing money play a dangerous role with us and deprive us of the opportunity to really earn money. But on the other hand, investing in everything is also a huge mistake.

If the biggest mistakes are not trying to buy when the bitcoin price is the lowest, we have those mistakes, but I do not want to regret it because that happens in the past. Right now, we have another opportunity to buy bitcoin and earn bitcoin in many ways, but we can not be able to buy bitcoin in a big amount like in the past. But we can have many bitcoin in those ways, especially if we can work hard and not stop before getting many bitcoin.

It's Good that you have not Bought Bitcoin in early Days because if you purchased them those time ?for sure you have much more to lose on these cases below

During my time in crypto land, I've became a victim of scams, hacks, and theft. Sometimes I've missed the opportunity of doubling my investment when an altcoin "pumped" on the market.

Imagine Having Lot or Bitcoin ? Then the hackers ,scammers and even Fake projects had accumulated Big amount of Bitcoin as you have many to invest .

At least, I've learned a valuable lesson. These past experiences helped me become a better person in the long run.

I'm curious to know: what's the biggest mistake you've made on crypto? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)
But that's part of Crypto investing ,To become a victim of our wrong decisions, but important that we at least learn more.

Most of us experienced that, people who knew about it when it was created had the biggest regret in their life. It is understandable, it is normal to be skeptical about investment if you are not sure where it will lead to.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned from the past bull market is to never HODL your  coin/token for too long. Always take your profit if you can and while you can. I've had several projects where I was left to HODL till the value goes down the drain.

bull and he himself and his moderators are not helpful at all. Wasted a bunch of money.

One of my biggest mistake within this industry is not knowing when to sell. There was a moment when that specific coin that they are talking about was speculated to drop in value but I did not believe in that story so in the end, I got no profit from it. Another newbie mistake that I did was not listening about the possibility of creating money within the Cryptocurrency Industry and yes I guess I wasted years not learning about Cryptos.

Buy at the high price and sell at a low price, that is something which I still do. I'll not say, I can't buy bitcoin at $3000 and another low price because at that situation you will feel that the price can fall more than that. At this bull run season I can't get a lot of profit, yeah I'm totally honest. I always predict that when the price goes down I will place a buy at a very low price or even when the price is close to the one I have placed I will cancel and place a buy at a lower price.

However, when the price is going up I always panic buying and have a hope that the price will continue to soar but not long after that the coin price movement meets a correction and reached the cut los that I made. That is a big mistake that I made, I always expected the bull market come like 2017 ago, but I missed it and even the situation only cost me a very big loss.

There are no people in the cryptocurrency who have made a mistake; Here, experience is usually gained by mistake. I joined CryptoGet in October 2017 and started working as a Bounty Hunter and received 4600 PRL tokens as the first payment to be sold in November. Without realizing the experience, I sell those PRLs for only $36, two weeks later the token price goes up to more than $4.5K. If I still feel sorry, I didn't need money then, but why did I sell it. It was my first and great mistake in the cryptoworld

Or just the other way around.

Investing in intersting projects which turned into a scam after the owners dumped all their coins as soon it was on the exchanges and left.

I think a lot of people will have the same type of answers; not buying enough while it was "lower", trading away your stacks, or falling for some scam.  Those are probably 3 of the top 3 regrets when I see these questions.  Me personally, not finding it sooner.  Always could have found it sooner if I looked in the right spots.  But it is what it is.  I think we are still early in the game.

Talking about the mistakes I did in cryptocurrency was very much, especially when I first got to know cryptocurrency. But I never regret that I have
done all the mistakes that I have done. Because of all the mistakes I've had, make me more mature in making decisions when it comes to investing
in cryptocurrency. Sometimes we can succeed, because we learn from mistakes. It doesn't matter if we make mistakes, the most important thing is
we don't repeat the same mistakes.

And my biggest mistake was borrowing money from banks as cryptocurrency investment capital, what I do is probably a lot of members in this forum
who do this too. Especially if the nature of greed appears and the crypto market is in a bullish trend, then we will look for all kinds of ways to be able
to get big capital so we can get big profits too. Without realizing that investing in crypto is very risky with its volatile prices, which can fall at any time.
I made that mistake in 2017 and lost a lot of money in 2018. So I hope that no one else uses borrowed money as crypto investment capital.

I wasn't into cryptos early was one of my biggest mistake despite the fact that I had funds to invest into it then, I just squandered and spend the money lavishly on trivial things, another regret was I that I participated in a bounty campaign which I so much trust and spent lot of time and efforts that lasted almost three months in 2018 having ignored BTC paying campaign unfortunately the bounty turned scam both bounty and project managers disappeared into thin air without a trace that was another big mistake on my part.

Nobody's perfect. Everyone can make mistakes every once in a while. Just move on and keep moving forward. Monetary losses are unavoidable, especially in crypto land where prices are extremely volatile. I've lost many opportunities to make profit with crypto, when prices went all the way to the moon in 2017. Fortunately, the bull market repeated itself, allowing me to take advantage of Bitcoin's price gains. With an ATH of $32k per coin, my gains were greater than they were a couple of years ago. Still, I've lost a lot of money during crypto's early days when cloud mining was overhyped. One of my biggest mistakes was investing into GAW Miners' "hashlets". Little did I know that the whole operation was a scam. Thousands of dollars were lost when GAW Miners' Josh Garza decided to run away with the money. I've also lost money when going all in Paycoin. GAW Miners claimed the coin will always be worth $20, only to go down the drain a year later. At least, I've learned a valuable lesson. And that is to never invest more than you're willing to lose.

Nonetheless, crypto has many risks than Fiat due to its widely volatile and unpredictable nature. You could either end up being rich or poor in an instant. As long as you cash out your crypto every once in a while, you'll be able to stay safe in this wild and crazy world of crypto. ;)

This is natural, not only beginners, even traders have made the biggest mistakes in this industry. For me personally I have also experienced this, especially when I couldn't manage my finances properly, was careless, chose the wrong project, panicked or sold at a loss, looked ridiculous by buying dump coins and it ended up not what I expected.

The worst mistake that I have ever made is not holding my raiblocks coins (nano after rebranding) I sold my coins very cheap
If I didn't sell them I would have been rich by now.
I also made the same mistake when I got a lot of Nanos from the faucet and sold them in mid-2017. Maybe a lot of people would not have thought that the nano would hit nearly 40 $ by then. Hoping the altcoin season is coming soon in the near future.

Biggest mistake was investing in Hashprofit. I wasn't that experienced in the crypto world and trapped in such a cloud mining scam.
Most crypto investors must have made this mistake at a point especially old investors, however, this may not be applicable to bitcoin maximalist that didnt fall for bitcoin killers any time and they are very few. The annoying thing is to see the team trying to launch another project with there name on it. And when you ask why they think they can succeed with the new project, they will ignore or ban you from the group.

Everyone makes mistakes. And they learn a lot from their previous mistakes that will come in handy in the future. I have also made many mistakes in crypto which are very difficult to remember.

Because the mistakes I made were about coins and biggest failure for me. I bought a lot of coins at a good price and sold them at a small profit, later it was found that those coins are now very popular and in the top list in the crypto market. If I had hodl those coins, my financial situation would have been different today. So I don't want to remember the mistakes made in my own crypto, because it’s painful for me.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to do without mistakes, but it is even more difficult to accept them and realize that this is just a part of our life.
For me personally, it was devastating to sell a few bitcoins at a low price back in 2016. Of course, the understanding of my mistake came only in 2017.
We did mistakes on 2017 and we might make mistakes again for this year. The common mistake that we did was we never bought at the low price and sold at the highest price.
It is happening again for this year with some investors but for us who have learned, don't make the same mistakes and take your profits.

keen on making such step and hesitance but with those noob mistakes on diving into the market without any analysis did really play out well. For those who had bought on 20-24k

everyone has their own mistakes, including myself, I have personally made a fatal mistake by buying a coin at a cheap price and who would have thought that the next day the price of that coin had increased sharply, I didn't have time to sell it at that time because I was busy in the real world. in the end I had missed that golden opportunity, but that was only in the past and I learned a lot from every mistake I made in the past ..

I think everyone is now regretting now buying BTC when it was 10k or even 15K, and selling too early.

Alas, these are mistakes you learn from, and as long as you can be happy with whatever profit you made at the time of selling, that's what matter. You did not know that things will get better, and you might have sold too early. At the time it was the right decision.

I've made big mistakes with bitcoin in gambling. Beyond this I've helped people in need. This means when the price was very low. Maybe around $5000, by that time I've cashed out and helped people. It was years back, but considering the present value I feel worried of missing my days. If I've kept hold I could've overcome all my financial issues by now. Anyhow on the corner the help I did benefitted the receivers, which gives little peace of mind.

Believe me, you can end up losing your life savings in gambling due to greed. That happened to me some time ago, as I've became addicted with crypto gambling. The feeling of greed is what makes you bankrupt in the long run. I've learned a valuable lesson, as now I don't invest more than I'm not willing to lose. Using faucet earnings for gambling is the safest way to play without "breaking the bank". In crypto land where price volatility is the norm, we must be very careful not to make a mistake that will lead us towards financial despair. No matter if you're a beginner or an expert, mistakes are completely unavoidable.

As long as you don't repeat the same mistakes over and over again, you'll be able to succeed in all of your crypto ventures. It's always important to update yourself on the latest crypto/Blockchain trends to help avoid making mistakes in the future. But if you do make a mistake, don't fret. Just let it go, and keep moving forward. Just my thoughts ;D

But no way, they've done it and they deserve the profit that they've made and just almost doubled it if ever they've bought a whole bitcoin.

Everyone has ever made mistakes in his life, including me.  The biggest mistake I made in crypto was buying IGNIS and NXT coins in 2017, at that time almost all the money I had was used up to buy these two coins, after that IGNIS and NXT experienced a very extraordinary price drop, and now these two  has become useless shitcoins for me.
Yeah, experience is the best teacher for me, I can learn to be wiser when making decisions, so that, the mistakes I have be done are not repeated a second time.

The biggest mistake I have ever made on crypto would be definitely selling too early. Drove by my emotions, the uncertainty, the fear of loss led me to impulsively selling when price hikes, not having second thoughts that price might increase higher if I will be just patient enough and wait. Yeah, I did that. But I have learned my lessons now.

The biggest mistake I have done crypto in the year 2017. The mistake was that I didn't sell my coin which is in better profit and hold it for a long and now that coins are in no value. Even some coins are gone obsolete totally vanished from the market. A big example is Dimcoin which now traded nowhere.

The biggest mistake that I've ever made in the crypto world is that I havent listen to my friends when they enter this industry way back 2017 where they earning a massive income.
Yeah, 2017 have been a wonderful year for the crypto industry, very many bounties were successful at that time, thus making bounty hunters get a large income from the projects they participate in. Entering 2018 and 2019, the crypto industry is in major shocks, besides the price of coins that continue to decline, scam projects keep on arriving, thus making investors and bounty hunters suffer losses. 2021 have given a new hope, it's a time for you to make up for the mistakes you made in 2017.

Trusting a useless project and investing on it and ended up losing money in the process, honestly it was a big mistake on my part, I should have just stayed away from that project but I thought it was worth the try, it is all in the past now but still socks whenever I think of it.

Losing a large amount of money It's pretty hard to forget, especially if the mistake includes a bad project investment. I have experienced the same thing as you, when you misplace money on a project and end up being a scam. On the one hand I began to realize that not to fall in love with a project that offers a high return on investment and always research a thousand times before investing in any project.

Biggest mistakes have probably been FOMOing into coins and then not selling them in hopes they go up even more. I have lost a good amount of money during the last month and first FOMOing in and then not getting out after a fast 2x or 3x.

But viewing it at another angle, everything I have bought and then sold has gone up to the same level (or higher) than before when I bought it.

Being impatient.

Well, I don't think it was the biggest mistake and failure but sometimes I blame myself for being like that and not have that strong guts to positively believing in the future.

Maybe I call myself a short-term holder. I have some altcoins before but I already sold them because of the worries inside and negatively thinking that sinks more than the day that a sell it. That usually came into my mind but now, I realize that was wrong and must have to change.

A lot of late comers were feeling the same thing like you. They didn't know about the new technology will need the time to be adopted by so many people in the world. There were so many parties that blamed bitcoin in the past but this time those people are changing their mind about bitcoin. They start to search for more and more bitcoin to be used as their future investment.
Remember also the bubble dotcom which has the same story with bitcoin.

My biggest mistake in crypto is when I stopped doing it way back in 2017-2018 when the market started declining. It is because I didn't get the real importance of crypto. I thought it is just something to do when I have spare time but now I realized how crypto can help individuals and the economy. Crypto is something to be worth studying for and worth expending time to know more about it.

It's good to see how the timeline on the OP reads Jan 1, 2021. Some of us here never thought this year would come or that we would survive 2020 with all its headache. But grace led us this far.

My biggest mistake in crypto was not having bought Bitcoin in its very beginnings. If I had bought plenty of Bitcoin back then when it was worth cents, I would've been a millionaire today.
Are you sure about being a millionaire from early hodling because many who bought in the early days sold off when Bitcoin barely got to $100 or less than $1k. It's the same way a lot of altcoin whales are trading valuable altcoins at a cheap price now. I hope they won't regret it a few years later. It's always like that.

For me, one of the sad moments I recall in crypto would be at the time I sold off all my BNB hodlings for a lending shitcoin that later scammed. That was in 2017/18 and it still hurts me till date.

Thank you. :)

I made a lot of expensive mistakes (this is both an unsuccessful investment in a pyramid for dozens of ethers and an illiterate investment in the gaming environment), but I emphasize that the main mistake was not taking profit. I thought that transferring cryptocurrency to fiat was stupid, because everything was growing, and then, as everything fell, I realized that it was stupid not to withdraw at least half of the deposit on time.

Take profit, don't forget about it! After all, your earnings are not the amount of cryptocurrency in your wallets, but the amount of dollars in your pocket!

I can't say that this is my biggest mistake but I can consider it as my biggest missed opportunity in my crypto life.

I started into crypto late 2017 when Bitcoin is at around $3,000 already and I've seen it go up to $20,000 but at that time I don't have any idea since I decided to learn more before investing to prevent losses. 2018 comes and I've seen the crypto bleeding all over. I know the basics of it already but it is a missed opportunity for me since I didn't bought and hold and crypto at that time. Another missed opportunity is this March 2020 when the pandemic started. I still remember the time where I always visit Coinmarketcap and the market is going down and down at a faster rate but I don't have any cash at that time and I feel regret on it.

This time I already adjusted my investments and my cash. That whatever happens, I will still hold some fiat money in order to invest into the market when the worst thing comes.

I first started my investment in cryptocurrency almost 9 years ago. But in the following months, I made a number of mistakes, resulting in the loss of a majority of my coins. First, I invested in a scam project called LitecoinGlobal, and half of my coins were gone immediately. Then I invested in a few shitcoins such as Labcoin and Quark, resulting in the complete loss of investment. And finally, I lost more coins when I failed to take the backup for some of my wallets.

I think the biggest mistake that I have done making me regretful most of the time is dealing on managing my decisions on if will I supposed to buy or sell already my coins to gain profit or to somewhat take advantage of the situation to purchase and make them into hold. Those were the common mistakes that I have done before that sometimes jump into my mind having regrets and thinking like "I have supposed to do that, I have not supposed to do this" just like stuffs are the minor to major mistakes I have done on the entire journey that I do encounter on my crypto journey. Even as of today, I still experience such minor setbacks which I just treat as a common mistake that is needed to be improve for my own betterment.

Because I jumped into the world of crypto self-taught and no one was guiding me, so I had many unforgettable mistakes. One of them is maybe
I use capital not from money that I can afford to lose, so when I start investing in crypto, I experience a loss by choosing the wrong projects.
I also ended up in debt, this is the biggest lesson for everyone if we want to invest in crypto, it is mandatory to use the money that we can afford
to lose.

- I joined many ICOs but never did research and many ICOs I joined ended up scams
- Not sell coins that already have a high price at that time because they believe the word "hold" too much (because I'm too greedy)
but all of that has become an experience and a lesson for me to be better

$500 doesn't sound a lot for me. but still I can understand how it feels as I've lost larger amount of funds in crypto. that is why for trading it is always advised to only invest as much as you can afford to loose. if $500 was not affordable for you to risk then you shouldn't have risked them.

I did that hodlings shit tokens mistake too. and sometime it really hit hard when I think about past. but good thing is I did not invest any of my own money on them. I've mostly earned them for the services I've provided them.

Mistakes will make you more mature, lessons are expensive but necessary. 2017 was the year of ICOs, most of them were very successful so your mistake is mainly greed, ICO scam was not much. After 2017 investing in an ICO was the biggest mistake even if you do your research, 95% are scam projects, you are still lucky.

I think for me is that i tend to hold coins even when its already in peak price, and the result when the coin goes down, I don't get any profit or at the same time need to wait for another rally to sell the coin, which more often also lost the capital because it takes too long to get back to the real price or purchase price, and selling the coin is just my only option to have a capital again resulting to lose money.

The biggest mistake is me buying 700 Zclassic coins at 2.3$ and selling them at 3.7$ the day before they pumped to 230$ a piece.
700$ profit in stead of 160000$ profit.

still bothers me to this day.

Well that really hurts. Especially when it was pumped the day after.

I sold two bitcoins for $250 each but that was years ago so I could made more if I saved them but it's been so long ago that I can live with that.

I am sure that most people, like me, have the biggest mistakes in the cryptocurrency sphere is that we sell our cryptocurrencies at low prices, but I already try not to make such mistakes as I have already gained a lot of experience from my mistakes.

How can we learn from these mistakes?  What are the actionables for the future?

One actionable might be that if a project seems like it's very innovative, earnest, and incubating, to invest in it and keep on holding.  Selling at false tops might be a mistake.

When I newbie to cryptocurrency I trust everything and everyone. So I got caught up on scams. But I learned my lesson from them.

My biggest mistake was selling some of the tokens generated from the bounty project after receiving them. maybe if I survived to this day at least I could make more profit, and another mistake was to lose $ 300 from investing in a bad project.

The biggest mistake is selling any crypto that is owned but sold when the market is dumping, that is the biggest mistake even hard to fix for me personally. At first I was confident to hold on no matter what but when the decline continued throughout the day and then sold, eventually the market recovered the next day. It's a recurring mistake and regret, but with a different plan at least I won't sell it all at once, at least with the experience I have I will keep some of it for long-term gain.

True! there are times that you really planned everything ahead of time but due to panic instead of keep holding your assets you intentionally sell it out to avoid losing big portions of your investment. Sad thing that eventually the value will bounce back and recover from the downfall leaving you to completely lose your money.

It's repeatedly and most of the traders are aware of this, emotions kills your investment, there are many mistakes that take place following your emotions, got to have a big nerve to face every struggles inside this market to learn more about holding your assets properly.

I had 35 Ethereum and i invested in two shitcoins (CYFM, MFTU) and now 99% of my capital has been ruined with this shitcoins. This is my greatest mistake in crypto. Taking lesson from this, i never invest in any shitcoins rather i try to invest in top coins which is reliable. Top coins never ruins the portfolio totally like shitcoins.

The number of shitcoins is increasin everyday. Every noob can nowadays create there own coin, copy some white papers and scam everyone they want.

It is hard nowadays to find the promising coins between the shitcoins.

A few trading with margin on poloniex always bad, trading in altcoins when bitcoin rises ... summary all coins fall relative to BTC. Waiting to long to sell in 2017 cause of it's going up mentality then waiting four years for this one to get more BTC with cheap fiat.
Pretty much anything other than hodl, recently trying a few de-fi tokens a bit too soon although that is a given since it's a wild west like old bitcoin days. I'm sure others have great stories as well. Summary activity based actions instead of cold storage ....

Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you don't. You can thank crypto's volatile and unpredictable nature for that. In my own opinion, the crypto market is just a gamble as you could either turn rich or poor in a blink of an eye. That's why it's important to secure as much profit as possible before it's too late.   Whenever you see the opportunity to cash out, do it without thinking twice.

I have made many mistakes with crypto projects, and cloud mining companies which turned out to become a scam in the long run. Everything was driven out of greed, leading me to a terrible financial situation within my early days in crypto. At least, I've learned a good lesson. Now, I'm more aware of the risks involved when investing in the crypto/Blockchain industry. I do my own research instead of making my decisions based on other's opinion. Remember, nobody is perfect. But it's important to learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward. ;)

We all have our own strengths and weaknesses in the crypto world and I believe we generally have our ups and downs when it comes to trading. Long story short, I have experienced losses in terms of trading almost half of the capital I used for trading. This is my initial capital since I first got into crypto. I do not regret the loss because I feel it is impossible without experiencing a loss for this risky activity.

None of us are free from losses, this is a natural thing and I admit that all of them must be valuable experiences and lessons that are useful in the future.

Great thread and lots to learn from here! One my biggest mistakes in the crypto world was trusting a so called "crypto expert" and following his tips blindly, without taking the time to do any research on the coins he was shilling me. It all went well for a while till all the progress was wiped out in days. Learned a lot in the past years from my mistakes but it's good from time to time to recall them

On the advice of another person, I kept a coin for a long time which resulted in huge losses. It wasn't a simple mistake because my fundraiser was so small. I had to bear such a loss due to misconceptions. On the other hand, I could not sell the coin in time due to which my financial crisis started.

This same kind of mistake is not only made by you alone, there are many others who have made this mistake. If you follow such so called experts, your losses will be normal because they will dump their held coins on you, many new traders have lost all their funds.

Due to the activities of these so called experts, many newbies have misconceptions about cryptocurrency.

Just like you, I don't buy when the price is still worth cents. And for victims of hacks and scams, of course, some people have experienced it, but what many people often experience is selling tokens at a low price but then after a few days the price becomes high, there are others who don't sell when it's high out of greed

Gladly I never experienced any hacks or something like that. I try to keep my computer as safe as possible.

I also make paper wallets on a offline computer so no one can't get those.  8)

Probably not keep going with mining I suppose. I remember back in the day I was mining with my computer, this is very very old days when you can mine bitcoin with a laptop, that much back in the day. However when my laptop got a bit too hot, and seemed to act weird, I decided it was time to get a new laptop, it was getting older anyway, and I imagined that was caused by bitcoin mining, which was sort of right because that tired the computer out a lot.

However instead of stopping, if I realized laptops are not meant to mine, and I should get a rig, I would have been pretty rich by now. Obviously back in those days we didn't had these gpu cards and we didn't had these hash rates, I remember a huge litecoin right with only 40 mh/s back in those days, but if I kept going and did my mining, I would have been multi-millionaire by now, even if I sold every single coin I mined, I could have grown it at least.

Thank you. :)
We all make the same and different mistakes. To become a millionaire, you don't have to buy only Bitcoin. Binance coins are enough in the short term. I think I'm a very lazy person. I missed so many legit campaigns where I could become a millionaire easily. Other mistakes were low active in the last bull run market. I'm patient enough, but I don't invest in all campaigns.

i agree on the first part , we all can make same mistake but the second one is , is that an advertisment ? because with so many cryptos with potential why will you think bnb can make you rich .

let say if we dont make a mistake of not buying coins at an early stage and let say you pick a bnb and i pick a btc with same amount invested for example 100 usd , few years later who do you think earn a huge profit between us ? hmm

I became aware of bitcoin existence few years back when the price is very cheap. I didnt know that it can be something big in the future so I didnt buy.

Thats my biggest mistake and up to now when I think about it and seeing the current price, I have this regrets that if only I could turn back time then I can change the decision I made before.

Anyways it already happened thats why now I need to move forward and take advantage the price of bitcoin when there's a correction.
