Title: Wanting to buy: $1 worth of BCH/BSV/BCH-A pre-Fork
Post by: LoyceV on January 01, 2021, 07:32:46 PM
After messing around (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2836875.msg55975125#msg55975125) with Forkcoins for much longer than I should have, I want to experiment a bit more with a small amount.

I'm looking for a small amount of Bitcoin Cash pre-fork, so that the coins also exist on the BSV and BCH-A chains. Even 0.001 would be enough, but a bit more is okay too. A private key to a Bitcoin address (with Bitcoin moved out) but all Forkcoins intact would would too.
The same funds must exist on all 3 chains, see https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/address/1addy, https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-sv/address/1addy and https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-abc/address/1addy to check.

Related topic: For sale: BCH, BSV and BCH-A Forkcoin dust (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5304496.0). I have the dust on different chains already, but that's not enough to test replaying transactions.

I've got a few old bitcoin core addresses.  I've moved my bitcoin but not touched any of the other coins.  My plan had been to spend this weekend working on that.  I'm a bit daunted reading up on this, particularly with much of the information I'm finding being written before other forks.

I'm relatively technically adept.  Coin-wise, I probably only have enough coin to make BCH and BSV make sense, though I'd like to keep my options open for the rest if things change.

I've got an address with just over .01 BCH from before the BCH fork.  I'd be glad to offer up the private key in exchange for some instructions, posted here so everyone can benefit, on how to go about safely recovering the various coins.  I've always handled my bitcoin on a linux commandline system.  I've got access to a raspberry pi, so I can use that, but I don't have an easy way to create VMs.  I also probably don't have enough coins to worry about dealing with offline wallets.  That said, explaining the safe way to do it is appreciated with an understanding that I may do it the unsafe way.

Primarily, I understand there is a replay risk and that I want to be careful about how I claim these coins.  Also, my coins are just private keys, because the bitcoin core wallet isn't a BIP39 wallet.

So, is .01 BCH/BSC/BCH-A worth that writeup?

I accept your offer :)
Even better, I have already written the instructions in LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2836875.0).
But like most Fork claiming guides, this is large outdated, and many Forks are no longer worth it. Therefore, I nowadays only extract BCH/BSV/BCH-A/BTG/BCD (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2836875.msg56016704#msg56016704). The current total Fork value is around $2000 per Bitcoin you owned at the Fork dates (assuming you have all of them).

For the safe way including many warnings: see my other topic (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2836875.0). If the total coin value is low enough to be worth an easy solution with slightly more risk: use Coinomi on Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinomi.wallet&hl=en&gl=US). You can use it for BCH/BSV/BTG.

You'll need to enforce replay protection before moving your coins! To do this, you need some BCH/BSV/BCH-A-dust on your address, and including that in your transaction. This way, the transaction can't exist on the other chains and thus can't be replayed. I can send you the dust. Plain private keys are the easiest to do all this.
Or read this post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2836875.msg56494521#msg56494521) on how I can do all this for you (at a fee).

You tell me if this was enough :) For further questions, please post in my other topic (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2836875.0) (it's kinda off-topic here).

I received unsplit Forkdust from lostinthewild. Topic locked!
