Title: Happy 12th birthday Bitcoin
Post by: dkbit98 on January 03, 2021, 12:50:27 PM
Exactly twelve years ago on January 3rd 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin genesis block with posting proof from front page of The Times newspaper.
The rest is history.

What we have twelve years later?

1 BTC is still 1 BTC, but we reached almost 35,000 in dollar value with estimated $637,177,146,997 market cap, and people are just getting to know huge potential bitcoin has.

Mystery about Satoshi Nakamoto remains but his Bitcoin legacy lives on.

Thank you Satoshi, and happy birthday Bitcoin!

This must be a bitcoin discussion topic.

By the way, does anyone know how rich Satoshi is in dollar currency?

And 12 years seems not too long. We still have years to go. We are still pioneer in the technology and adoption. Happy birthday Bitcoin.

Assuming the ~1M BTC figure is right, you're looking at around US$34Bn. Most likely, though, if they did want to cash out their coins they would have had some alternate addresses.

Give it a few years. Maybe we'll see hyperinflation and/or 6+ figure BTC.

It's great to celebrate the bitcoin anniversary with a new ATH, Congrats :)

Just one year ago it was >

Well, on a side note, Salman Rushdie really didn't get married again! It seems that four times has been enough for him or Padma Lakshmi has exhausted him too much. ;D

Happy birthday Bitcoin!

I was looking at the billionaires list: https://www.forbes.com/real-time-billionaires/#70e444813d78

Amazing to know Jeff Bezos worth $189+ B!
Obviously his wealth is the product of Internet era. Satoshi started a new era and still it's only 12 years old. It's logical to give it a few decades. Someone with ~1M BTC will be the richest person in the world even if you consider the USD value. He is the richest in terms of BTC anyway.

Edit:
Just noticed that a similar topic was already created in the morning: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5306383.0

This was also covered in a thread yesterday: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5306039
I'm surprised that with your usual activity you've still missed it  :)

At the time of that topic it was $30.38B, now preev shows somewhere at $33B - $33.4B.
So at a 6x growth of Bitcoin he'll surpass Bezos. Something that can actually happen, maybe even before the next birthday of Bitcoin.
