Title: Which exchange do you recommend? (US newb)
Post by: DogeCoinBandit on January 06, 2021, 10:59:11 PM
I'm looking for an exchange with:

  • Low fees
  • Strong security
  • Large list of cryptos
  • Efficient verification processes

I joined Binance, but the verification process has taken weeks, and I've missed out on this latest surge in value, so I'm pretty pissed and want to find another exchange. Thanks in advance.

Which Binance did you use thou? binance.us or binance.com
I verified from Binance.com some few months ago right before the price surge and the whole process of complete verification took only a few hours. Maybe the latest delays could be due to the large volume of users registering and trying to verify in the platforms due to the price surge thus the delay in verifying your account.

Whenever Bitcoin's price surges, exchanges tend to report an increase in the rate of account creation.

what do you prefer to use for buying crypto?

Debit/credit card or bank accounts?

For bank accounts, there is someone who recently asks this here on the forum that I think related to your needs.
Check this "Best Exchanges for US Customer To Buy/Sell Crypto to US Bank Account? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5304677.0)"

Or try Coinbase pro (https://pro.coinbase.com/) you can check their deposit and trading fees here https://help.coinbase.com/en/pro/trading-and-funding/trading-rules-and-fees/fees

at this point in a bull market, you'll likely experience verification delays at any exchange. the same thing happened in 2017---too many people trying to onboard at the same time. this is why some people are willing to pay big premiums on p2p platforms, to avoid those delays.

binance.us has the lowest fees and most coins on offer. kraken is probably the top choice after that but as mentioned, it's impossible to say how long verification will take right now.

It was Binance.us. I've read some really bad reviews about their customer service... I feel like Binance.com isn't afflicted with the same issues.

Also, pay attention to the exchange policy for users in certain countries. Make sure you are not in a country that does not support the exchange that you choose. Some of the exchanges (Spot / DEX / Derivatives) that you can consider can be seen through:
https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges
https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges
Note: These two sites or other similar sites are only for reference expected to research further if you want to choose one of the exchanges listed on the website list.

My binance KYC verification took just a day, mind you I would like to ask if you use binance or Binance US, the best exchange that I can recommend for any US citizen is coinbase pro, I believe that this exchange is more friendly for United States people

I have a couple of registrations to exchanges. Have used Coinbase (however the verification takes some time).

For example Bittrex has a very fast verification system but I cannot make the VISA CC transaction there. It just says try again later or sort of. Looks like it cannot get to the 3D verification of the CC.

He said that it was Binance.us.

It was Binance.us.

Just like everyone is suggesting, the only best two exchanges that you can be with are Binance.us and Coinbase/pro.

How many times you've followed up for your verification? Follow it up through emailing them and wait for their respond so that they'll be alerted that your process has been pending for a week.

I'll give that a shot. I was reluctant because I saw a message on their site that said contacting about a ticket will move it to the end of the queue. But at this point, what do I have to lose?

I have a friend who recommended Gemini - any pros or cons from veteran crypto exchange folks on them? They seem OK - similar to Coinbase.

You don't have to look for other exchanges, I think because binance is going to be a good exchange. If you are not comfortable giving your document to them, you do not have to verify your account, but your account will be subject to limitations. You can save the USDT or other fiat money on the other wallet, whether it's a desktop or mobile phone hardware wallet or apps wallet. But if you want to exchange a stable fiat coin, I think you can use third party services in your country, such as exchanges.

I’ve had positive experiences with Binance and Bittrex. If you’re going to trade, doesn’t hurt to have multiple exchanges in the event any one might be down.

I would have recommended binance but you've already have that so, it's up to you to be patient with them because, if security is a thing you value, they've got that covered to a large extent and are one of the leading exchange available.
