Title: Either I forgot an old phone number or my account was compromised.
Post by: Damavsman on January 09, 2021, 05:28:08 AM
During the 2 step verification I put in my email and password. However once I got to the phone number the phone number it mentions ending in a two digit  I don't remember having.  I looked at all my old phone numbers so far and I did not see it.  I tried contacting Coinbase 2-3 times already in the past couple of weeks and I have not gotten any response.   It has been over a year since I have logged into coinbase, is there any other way I can gain access that I may have forgotten about?

Since Coinbase is a custodial account, you have no control over anything and are at the mercy of their support staff!
All you can do is to pressure the support to answer you and fix your issue, if you have any funds there and if your account is verified you have a chance since you can prove your identity with the documents you had submitted before. You can post on their twitter and post on reddit asking people to upvote to get their attention and force their hand in helping you. This has worked in the past in some cases.

Custodial, centralized exchanges have many data on your identities: from documents you use to submit KYC, your IP addresses, geographical location, device informations (model, screen resolution), deposit or withdrawal details and many other things.

Therefore if they want to give a due diligent supports, they can manage to help o re-verify your account without the phone number. No one knows what they want from you and what they intend to play with their cards. They sure try to prevent compromise on their customer accounts and you need to provide enough evidence for ownership.

IIRC, there's no way unless you remember it or try to prove the ownership through Coinbase's representative if they allow so. But too bad that they have tons of inquiries which is making each of those inquiry to be delayed. It's said on their website.

We’re currently experiencing an increase in inquiries. There may be a delay in responses from Coinbase Support. We’re committed to doing better. We appreciate you bearing with us during this exciting time for the cryptoeconomy - we’ll reach out as soon as we review your case.
