[Overview] Sportsbooks odds/margin comparisons (Esports edition) https://i.ibb.co/BB4GNFz/dh.png source (https://inmotion.dhl/en/esports/article/esl-one-cologne-2019) **Disclaimer: I am not vouching for any of the bookmakers listed in this post. Do your own research before playing in any of these betting sites. *** Comparison tables format are based off of DarkStar_'s Overview of Bitcoin Accepting Sportsbooks (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5040737.0) thread. Contents (click to go to that section of the overview) What is Margin (#post_margin) Tools used for the odds/margins comparison (#post_tools) Markets used (#post_mark) Type of events used (#post_event) Games used (#post_game) Sportsbooks used and small overview (#post_sportsbook) Crypto Sportsbooks & Casinos (#post_casino) Esports bookies (#post_esport) Margins comparison (#post_comparison) Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (#post_counter) League of Legends (#post_league) Dota 2 (#post_dota) Rocket League (#post_rocket) Overwatch (#post_over) Rainbow Six Siege (#post_rainbow) Starcraft II (#post_star) Brood War (#post_war) Valorant (#post_valor) Hearthstone (#post_stone) Warcraft III (#post_craft) -Misc- (#post_final) What is Margin From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigorish): Quote Vigorish (also known as juice, under-juice, the cut, the take, the margin, the house edge or simply the vig) is the fee charged by a bookmaker (or bookie) for accepting a gambler's wager. Pinnacle also explain what Margin is here (https://www.pinnacle.com/en/betting-articles/educational/betting-margin-calculator/SZ9JZEGZ3NN9FVWT) and they also have a very helpful article explaining "Sports betting profitability and the affect of margins (https://www.pinnacle.com/en/betting-articles/Betting-Strategy/how-margins-affect-your-long-term-betting-profitability/MA32E8D8QYPEJKD8)" TL;DR: lower margins means higher potential profits over time. To maximize your winnings, you want to go to the bookmaker offering the best odds/lower margins. Tools used for the odds/margins comparison Pinnacle's Margin Calculator https://www.pinnacle.com/en/betting-resources/betting-tools/margin-calculator Markets used The three most popular markets in Esports betting: 1) Match Winner 2) Map Handicap 3) Total maps Type of events used I picked the highest tier tournament for each Esport that i could find over the last few months. These are the type of tournaments that everyone will be watching and betting on given their importance in the circuit. So, i figure the bookmakers would try to compete with each other to offer the best odds in these tournaments, more especifically, in the Grand Finals of each tourney, so that they can attract more punters, which is why i thought that it the best opportunity to check and compare their margins. Games used Current games: League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Starcraft II, Starcraft Brood War, Rocket League, Overwatch, Rainbow Six, Valorant, Hearthstone, Warcraft III May be added in the future: Quake, Fortnite, FIFA, Diabotical, Street Fighter V, Apex, Smash Bros Sportsbooks used and small overview I'll be using two different categories to list all the different bookies that i used in this comparison thread (click sportsbook logo to go to their website): 1) Crypto sportsbooks & casinos I chose these books because they are some of the most popular and well-established sites in the crypto gambling space. These books offer a wide variety of esports games, decent betting markets and many options to deposit in crypto. ("i don't see X or Y bookie, where is it?" read here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5308065.msg56056591#msg56056591)) 2) Esports books I picked these because some of them are among the most popular esports-focused and crypto friendly bookmakers out there, some others have been around in this for a long time. Most of these bookies offer extremely good betting markets in all the big titles like CSGO, LoL and Dota, they also offer many promotions and bonuses focused entirely on esports, and, as you'll see in the table below, most of them have a wider games offering than the crypto sportsbooks & casinos. Margins comparison Here's a link to a spreadsheet with all the raw data I used + some notes here and there. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1V6kMsB-mhltqh-te0SVcYwA8yayLYSFB3jGHLKVktM0 - Blank spaces in the tables mean that the bookmaker did not offer that market. - If you don't see a bookmaker in a comparison table is because the site either didn't offer the tourney that I used to calculate margins (and i couldn't find another tourney to fill in the blanks) or it doesn't offer that specific game. - If you see two or more bookies with the exact same odds, it wasn't a typo, some of these bookies use the same odds provider and they'll more often than not offer the same odds in certain lines. I'll try to update ALL the margins on a monthly basis or whenever there's a top tier tournament ongoing (so you might wanna bookmark this thread in case you're interested in future margins updates). I may use rounding in the next updates rather than using one single match to gather the data. Continue below... (i had to split the posts because you get a forum error when trying to post too many of tables) Title: Re: [Overview] Sportsbooks odds/margin comparisons (Esports edition) Post by: tomahawk9 on January 09, 2021, 01:00:29 PM Part 1: Contents: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (#post_counter) League of Legends (#post_league) Dota 2 (#post_dota) Rocket League (#post_rocket) Overwatch (#post_over) Rainbow Six Siege (#post_rainbow) *lowest margin in bold* Counter-Strike: Global Offensive https://i.imgur.com/QA6T8Oa.png Event used: Intel Extreme Masters Season XV - Global Challenge - Grand Final - Astralis vs Team Liquid Crypto Sportsbooks & Casinos

- I skipped some sportsbooks because: 1) low esports offering, 2) it's an up-and-coming book, 3) I had a bad experience with it so i didn't want to add them to this overview. But, I may have missed a few others simply because i don't use them. I'll try to include more sportsbooks in upcoming updates (no promises, though) - I may add some more stuff in the future like market coverage in both pre-match and inplay, wagering limits, avg bet grading times, odds comparison with the top esports fiat bookies like Pinnacle and GGbet - Source for every game icon here (https://pastebin.com/1bCjE04P). Lower margins mean that they have a higher chance of having the best odds for a selection. For example:
https://i.imgur.com/agoLVre.png Nitrogen and Stake both have a ~7.7% margin on the Winner market for this event, but there's an obvious better choice depending on which side you wanted to bet. Combining Stake and Nitrogen's best odds offerings, we get a margin of only 2.78%. BitOdds (https://bitodds.com/csgo/) (screenshot was from BitOdds) and BestOdds (https://www.bestodds.ai/odds/esport-counter-strike) are two sites that have some odds comparisons for ESports, though they're both pretty limited for event, market and sportsbook coverage. would anyone like to see a new table showcasing Industry Average margin + Highest/Lowest and compare all books? it would help to visualize and keep track of sites that improved (or not) their margins and check how close they are to the average, i would update it on a monthly basis with the rest of the tables It's worth noting that the book with the lowest margins won't necessarily have the best odds, and that it's still best to shop around. this is so key to also maximize profits in the long-term, but unfortunately, a lot of people are still not keen on the idea because 1) the brand loyalty towards a bookie is pretty strong cos ppl don't like to step out of the comfort zone their fav site provides (cos of the payouts, UI, market coverage, etc) and 2) it can be a bit of a hassle to shop around without a proper tool sometimesBitOdds and BestOdds are pretty good sites to shop for odds, but man their esport offering is lacking a bit right now...whish i knew how to code so i can offer some help and get things rolling before the offseason comes and end :D |
