Title: What triggers altcoin season???
Post by: Synerggy on January 12, 2021, 08:23:05 AM
Everyone keeps singing about altcoin season but I have few questions about this altcoin season

1. Are whales the backbone of altcoin season?

I meant are whales responsible for altcoin seasons? Some said when bitcoin is done with uptrend in bullruns whales will sell their btc and opt into altcoins to pump them, is this true?

2. Or is Bitcoin going to spreads it's profits down to altcoins at a certain point? Pls don't laugh I'm just trying to know what can trigger altcoin season

Some are even saying things could be different this time around

All you've been told or hear about are still all guesses, nothing is guaranteed in crypto space, even bitcoin is so unpredictable, things look different this type because bitcoin reached a new ATH and Ethereum still lags behind 1300$ wall, also majority of altcoins aren't as huge as Ethereum in value today, whatever may happen is till unknown, we can only be prepared for both outcomes

It's true that crypto whales have a big role to play in bull seasons, once they are done with bitcoin ROI they can decide to put large amount of money back into altcoins thus making their value to pump more but all eye are on bitcoin this time, it's not only about profit making now, it's more about accumulations

Not far from the truth, remember Bitcoin is measured with USD so what some or most of the wales does is after a major trend they tend to convert btc to Usdt which is a stable coin. When that is done the price of bitcoin will drop as per correction and later on, they will convert their Usdt to Btc again to make more profits. my thought tho i might be wrong.

I believe that the focus of this current bullish market trend is Bitcoin and only a few altcoins were gained organic growth, I believe that because investors are not the same as it was in 2017-2018 respectively since most of the involve investors now is from the financial institution thats why they have already known when and where to invest these time. preferably not on altcoins because we can see the data in CMC and CoinGecko.

People believe that after the btc price run comes to an end investors will switch to alts and this will trigger the alts season (but) from what i experience in the previous bull run... i.e 2017, btc was the initiator of the bull run, at least this is how i see it, once btc start the price movement soon after the altscoins will follow, but from this recent one things seem a bit different,
i doubt there is a right explanation to it except just assumptions and speculations.

According to the total cryptocurrency market capitalization without the presence of Bitcoin, price action on monthly timeframes for the altcoin cap of over $200 billion locked up in altcoins was recently rejected at Ichimoku cloud resistance.
The Ichimoku cloud, also known as the Kumo, can act as support or resistance, and the mass of each cloud represents how turbulent each price action has been – similarly to how Bollinger Bands widen depending on levels of volatility.

There are some reasons that trigger the altcoin season

1. Bitcoin bullish trend was making altcoin became bullish too
2. Bitcoin whales were also moving to the altcoins and pump it

I think that the institutional investors have no impact to the altcoin but institutional investors gave a very big impact to the bitcoin and this was helping altcoins to be pumped by the whales to get the bullish trend too.

I think just the desire of whales to always make a profit from the cryptocurrency market is the trigger for launching altseasons for some periods of time

To be honest, there is almost no organic growth without a bullish bitcoin. indeed for most projects that have a subsidiary like Binance it might be easy to get organic growth, but it's still quite difficult for other altcoins. altcoins season is definitely influenced by bitcoin, but not large percentage.
