Title: Forgot this forum had a Politics Board, quick question...
Post by: Sam-Os on January 13, 2021, 02:14:44 AM
Am I going to get banned for being pro-Trump here? Seeing as that is pretty much the norm across the internet for quite a while now I'd like to know up front before I start fully engaging in political discussion. How are the mods?

Deranged shit posts are quite usual here in Politics & Society. So no need to worry if you want to contribute your part to them. Check out KingScorpio's post history (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=956126;sa=showPosts) to get some inspiration.

How are the mods?
"Flying Hellfish is a Commie".  :D

Am I going to get banned for being pro-Trump here?

No. Being a patriot is allowed here.

The forum very much believes in freedom of speech. As long as you are not advocating for breaking the law, or are causing disruption, you will generally not face consequences from the forum.

You may see personal hates from people who don't like your ideology and its is not only the case with politics board, in this internet world you can't meet everyone's criteria to get like from them. By the way you are not going to be banned here for any reasons other than serious trolling, continuous spams and plagiarism.

It surely is, and I don't know about the P&S section, but some of the others are floor-to-ceiling moronery 24/7.

Being pro-Trump right now isn't very popular at all, given what happened in Washington, but OP and anyone else has the right to express their opinions however they see fit as long as they don't break forum rules (like inciting violence or threats).  Bitcointalk is awesome in that Theymos doesn't want to censor free discussion, so I think you're in the clear OP.

I basically just wrote out what you said--I should have read the thread before posting, but that's a bad habit of mine.  What you said is on-point.

The Pharmacist, you intrigued me by talking about Washington, can you share what you mean? (I obviously missed something from recent events). I apologize for moving away from the topic of conversation (BTW, the OP can already close the thread or move it to the appropriate section) ...

Edited: Are you talking about this?

Ostensibly "Trump declares ‘major disaster’ in Washington state, says he’d activate National Guard; here’s what that does and doesn’t mean"

No. Being a moron is allowed here.

Being pro-Trump means pro-racist, pro-sexist and pro-dishonest.  Is that what you want to promote?

I won't conclude all Trump supporters are morons, but I will suggest their values belong in another time.

Democracy means government by the majority of its members, not the most violent of its members.

(I notice your post was merited by Quickseller the scammer)

Edit to clarify this post was directed at Sam-Os, not suchmoon.

Since we already have a few flatearthers here, I don't think another knucklehead poses any problem.
Don't just call for an armed rebellion.  ;D

Not at all, you can freely engage and participate in any conversation without fearing any bias towards you just because you are a trump supporter. As long as you stay within polite language (which even anti-trump people have to follow) and not be offensive to anyone, you won't have any problem! Without a conflict in ideologies or disagreement, there's no debate, and when there's no debate, only dictatorship rules!

This isn't twitter. You're not going to be cancelled. Post whatever you want as long as it's legal, though beware there are a few melting snowflakes here who might leave you negative feedback if they don't like what you say or can't take a joke.

Am I going to get banned for being pro-Trump here?

No. Being a moron is allowed here.

Being pro-Trump means pro-racist, pro-sexist and pro-dishonest.  Is that what you want to promote?

All this applies to Biden as to likely most other politicians. In fact, Biden has probably done stuff far more racist than Trump in the past: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZfzJATDmXs

Seems like he's had his fair share of sexual harassment allegations too, but hey he's not Trump so that's good enough for most.

Both shouldn't be anywhere near office though, but this just shows how flawed and what a sad state of affairs democracy is. You get to choose between tweedledum and tweedledummer and neither will do half of the stuff they promised whilst shafting you in a multitude of other ways they never mentioned. Democracy has become voting for the lesser of two evils and 99% of people who vote probably couldn't answer a few simple questions on economics or politics but they'll vote for a person based on a few soundbites. The last election and referendum in the UK was just as bad. Most people who voted for or against Brexit had absolutely no knowledge of the ramifications it would actually have other than the opinion of brexit/immigration good/bad.
