Hello guys, today I decided to have some fun and created a UI of bitcointalk APP's main page.

It's just a brief and quick work but would love to hear from you whether you would use something like this or have suggestions.
At the moment, I want to present the main page of APP.

Its alright, personally I almost always prefer a dark mode, so the "modern clean" white colour. I also think that whatever app, website or application you are developing you should always consider doing a dark mode. Not only is it easier on the eyes, but it generally saves battery life, specifically on phones. I almost exclusively use dark mode whenever possible, and when its not I tend to look to force dark mode.

What's the sliding option next to the "boards" dropdown used for?

What a question, without doubt, dark mode will be available. At the moment I am not exactly making an APP but an UI/UX concept. Just offered the main page of the APP and want to hear from users if they link this kind of style. I tried to include everything in one page.

Boards is the default set, when you click on it, you'll have a possibility to choose:
1. Unread Posts
2. Replies to your posts
3. Watchlist

For quick accessibility, there is a search and PM icon on the upper right side. The left menu will include Profile Info and Modify Profile section.

I think this could be suggested to the new forum software Epochtalk. As I see there are already some suggestions for the new UI like this one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5296215.0
I personally like the old one, or maybe more accurate is to say I'm used to it but I would love to sea "night mode" implemented as Welsh mentioned above.
Overall it's a nice design but it won't be implemented to the official forum anyway.

It's actually clean and decent but it's too bright. I think The font is too small and too light to see for me. It's hard for the eyes, especially when the background is white and the font is kinda disappearing into the background. The font type, I'm really not a fan because I've gotten used to the default font that is used here in the website. At least that's what I think.

Pretty clean minimalistic design, I like it so far.

Do you have any other splash screens made for say, how a thread would look in this particular UI, and would you allow for users to be able to change theme, color, font etc?

Also, there is no mention of the app being related to bitcointalk or a bitcoin forum in general, or even a logo for that matter, so perhaps that could use.

The UI looks good but honestly I think the new forum software should give two options for UI at least or can be expanded to three options (with the last one)
  • Classic: familiar with and would love to use.
  • Modern: can be fancy and is more favorite by younger generations.
  • Customize: or people who want to play with it. Like what Windows give their users.

great work but it's a little too bright for me and hurts my eyes(my eyes are sensitive to bright colors). maybe adding darker colors in the UI might reduce its brightness and help those who have color sensitivity to look on the UI for longer times.

Darker version looks much better for me, and maybe you can move this image to first post also along with light version.
Best thing would be to have simple switch so anyone can choose what they like, and I think app could attract younger generation in forum.

Quick impression: you need to change the font colors of both light/dark modes a bit. The gray texts simply need a bit more contrast to be easier on the eyes.

Yes, me personally since my eyes are fine(and a lot of us here), I can read everything clearly. But when designing UIs, we also need to take into consideration people with vision impairment and such so everyone will have a better experience. You wouldn't like some of them to be doing this "can't read" facial expression:

I mostly like it though, so good job!

Me too--I can't stand too much white on anything, including websites, walls, cars, and sclera.  The dark mode and the overall look of what OP created it pretty damn good if you ask me, and if I ever accessed bitcointalk on my smartphone I'd be happy to have the site showing up like that.

I used to visit the forum a lot on my phone, but I don't anymore--but when I did, the lack of a modern mobile-friendly site used to drive me up a fucking whitewashed wall.  I (and a lot of other vocal members) could never understand why Theymos hadn't kept up with the times in that respect.  Yeah, I get that the new forum software should be arriving any day now, but bitcointalk has been mobile-unfriendly for as long as mobile-friendly sites have existed.  Think about that.

It's OK and i don't see anything that obviously wrong/awkward, but for "Development & Technical Discussion" boards, but i would rather see icon which represent P2P property of Bitcoin.
I kind of agree with you, although the image you showed is kind of overused.  It looks like Mycelium's, Reddcoin's, Curecoin's, and I'm sure tons of other coins and assorted blockchain projects' logos, i.e., it's very unoriginal.

However, the benzene-sniffing part of my brain really likes it.

Now this is much better. At first glance, the font for me is still not that visible (probably because I don't have 20/20 vision anymore?). I think it would be better to make it more visible, like making the font a little larger and giving it a little more color to it so that it doesn't fade into the background? anyway, the more I look at it, the more visible it becomes to me so you don't really have to change anything if you don't want to.

I would definitely use the darker version but tilting my phone to the side [landscape mode] would result in having a small middle section [due to the header and footer heights]...
- I would love to also see a responsive design in landscape mode.

It's obvious that I plan to change the UI that I already posted, so don't get amazed if login is different from the previous concept.

Again, don't hesitate to leave your feedback, it's very important for me!

This UI to me is so aesthetically pleasing I will approve with this,  also about the avatar I think I still much prefer the rectangle size than the circle one because its limit the whole design of the avatar, and about the other buttons is there any available modules?. Like the stats, help and others right there?. The wait is just a real project soon or just a static design only?. Just wondering is there any case that the bitcoin talk would like to adopt the use of the application base?.

UI interface is beautiful, the design is streamlined, but there are a lot of notes:

 - There is no need for there to be a stats icon.
 - There is no notification icon or at least icon for "Show new replies to your posts."
 - There is no need for Help icon.
 - Instead of a member icon, make it an icon to search for members.
 - add Create topic.

Overall, I liked the design, especially the dark mode.

There's not much to say apart from the part that, you've given some of the cryptocurrencies a spotlight that they don't deserve [it's bitcointalk.org, not cryptotalk.org] on the login page.

You should probably add this one to OP as well.

I prefer the dark one, because with the white one, too many things blend together.
This might be just me, and i'm  aware it's subjective, but i like clean lines and separations in an app

I think live preview of this App (prototype) would answer all the similar questions. I plan to change home icon with + and after clicking on it, user will be able to create new thread.

I implemented Stats icon and others because when you login on bitcointalk, you have these menus/options under your avatar.
"Show new replies to your posts" will be available in "Topic" area, when you click on it, there will be the following listings:
Unread Posts
Replies to your posts
Watchlist

Bitcointalk is a place where we discuss not only about Bitcoin but about altcoins too. I personally think that I didn't included bad altcoins (except litecoin that is just an useless copy/paste). Btw I am open to hear suggestions from users. If they don't like this kind of login page, then I'll change. Btw, App will be redesigned again and interface will be upgraded.

I love the design and I really appreciate the effort that you have put into this.

Just a question, are you equipped with the skills in order to integrate this into an application? This would become very convenient into many users as accessing bitcointalk.org in a mobile device can be quite tricky. The texts are optimized and the design crates this friendly atmosphere in general.

If ever you are in the process of making this into an app, I would love to donate in order to support this cause, OP.

Wow it is amazing. Truely i think you deserve a huge crowd claps. I truely like the dark theme version of bitcointalk app. If bitcointalk  wants to creat any apps then i truely like this ui theme. But truely i badly need a notification option may we get a Notification option for bitcointalk. And the bright version UI also looks nice and its colour matching looks soo great. I want to ask you some are you a UI/UX designer and do you work any where. May i seen your portfolio truely i want to see your more creation. I think you are an amazed worker. Thank you soo much to share your work.

Btw I don't like the personal text and signature area, also have to put ranks somewhere :D
Also, I think that yellow/orange background would be better

Edit:
I know avatar needs some correction, isn't placed as it should be (it's a little bit higher), sorry, now I understand the result of a lot of unslept hours  ;D

I'm not exactly an expert, but I think it would be very difficult to make a full-fledged bitcointalk APP since there is no official API for the current version of the forum.

Maybe in the future, when we move on to new forum software.

Before that, have a look at all shots and state your opinion/idea (only two are included in main post, there are others around there).

Haha, this title... Nevermind :D

I want to create the great UI design for bitcointalk that will be the ideal in UX part too. This website has great community, learnt a lot from them, this is only the tiny thing that I can do for bitcointalk. I'll try me best to offer you the best user experience, that's why I want your feedback and ideas :)

I like the latest version a lot [bold & modern approach], but I have one complaint; You didn't include the child boards for each of those boards.

I can't wait to see a theme inspired by your design on our new forum software [whenever someone views it using a mobile device].

It is technically even possible to make a bitcointalk app without theymos' approval? I'm not a developer, but wouldn't that require some kind of bitcointalk API?

Sadly seems there isn't much (if any) interest from our forum members. I don't and can't create the app, I guess it needs approval from Theymos and it's probably not releasable with current SMF.

So, I just design the app. I'm trying to improve my skills in UI/UX and try to design something new, different and rare (Personally, I haven't seen much forum applications).

In near future, I may prototype the App and let users to test it but still, I want to get suggestions and impressions from you at this step. If the current UI doesn't look good, then it doesn't worth to continue developing of this and I'll have to rethink and try to design a new one or significantly modify this one.

So, more and more rates please :)

You could technically have a backend scraping the forum and manage the posting/meriting directly through HTTP requests, but it would most likely be very clunky. It could be a fun experiment, but I already have enough projects to work on. :P

Yes, but I don't think there is enough demand to justify the time needed to code one.

I'm not sure about that. UI mockups are one thing, but the full-featured APP is something else altogether.
If there were an APP that made it easier to view bitcointalk forum on mobile devices, I would be very interested.

There are softwares like XD, Figma, Invision, Marvel, etc that lets UI/UX designers to create the prototype of its product and let the users test it. You won't be able to download and install an app from Appstore or Playstore or even download APK but you will be able to test all the basic functions and feel how the app works, it's called user-testing and is done in order to know what you need to improve in your UI, how easy and pleasant experience it is for your customers to use the app, etc. (Before that, you create Personas and build the product according to their statistics).
Some nice updates will come soon and I'll prototype it also and share it to the users.
Again, I don't make the actual App, I only make the UI, design.
