Title: the future of GPU mining.... Post by: aliitp2 on January 15, 2021, 10:04:33 AM Hi guys,
am just getting SERIOUS into mining AltCoins (namely using NICEHASH!!) am building my first real mining rig/high-end desktop PC with 3x 3080s and planning to build more GPU mining rigs down the road... Am am nicehash guy due to its ease of use and convenience cashing out my earnings to fiat, and i dont want to mess around with various pools, alt coins etc... I read however that ETH 2.0 might be coming out soon which will sooner or latter put an end to PoW Etherum, my question here: How will this affect program like nicehash ?? since mine is mining ETH most of the time !... and at the same time what will be the future of GPU mining when eth 2.0 is launched ??? thanks, Title: Re: the future of GPU mining.... Post by: KaratX on January 15, 2021, 10:15:46 AM I believe the eth2.0 is already out and to get completely or fully switched the POW to POS will take lots of time that's why POW algorithm is still running, this can take a year or two to finally move to POS, you have nothing to worry about
Title: Re: the future of GPU mining.... Post by: Greatdev on January 15, 2021, 10:18:53 AM OP RTX3080 is a high end card, even if Ethereum POW stop today you will still make good profits mining with that GPU, Nicehash will have to resync and find the most profitable coin for your card once ETH is out of mining business
Title: Re: the future of GPU mining.... Post by: Greatdev on January 15, 2021, 10:21:24 AM Hi guys, There is other algorithms that are profitable on RTX 3080 like EquiHash and Octopus, even Ravencoin is still good too but I'm sure that you will have make your return of investment back before Ethereum stops it's POW mining because it can take more than a year to see that happens like KaratX said am just getting SERIOUS into mining AltCoins (namely using NICEHASH!!) am building my first real mining rig/high-end desktop PC with 3x 3080s and planning to build more GPU mining rigs down the road... Post by: rdluffy on January 15, 2021, 12:24:40 PM I'll tell you the only true fact about mining, ETH, POS etc
Nobody knows what's going to happen in the future There's a lot of factors, I heard about ETH POS since 2017, and it's always the same, this is year they already did the first step, ok, but nobody knows about profits, about the end of ETH mining... Maybe people will stop to mine, maybe another coin will take the place of ETH, maybe mining is going to stop, or only big farms will stay profitable with dirty cheap electricity ETH is probably the coin of more than 90% people mining, so think about all cards having to jump into another coin You see, there's nothing guaranteed, you can start with only one GPU and learn about mining, and see how it works, difficulty, change of the value of ETH, Asics of ETH etc Today you can gain 200USD per 3080 monthly, but next month can be 50 USD, and next month can be 1 USD... With GPUs you can always sell your used cards, but keep in mind it's not 100% guaranteed, there's always risk Title: Re: the future of GPU mining.... Post by: philipma1957 on January 15, 2021, 02:29:13 PM At op. most people fuck up by rushing in and buying too much gear.
lets us say you build a 3 card 3080 rig. you got good prices and paid about 2600usd to build the rig. it does 270mh which is about 19 a day it burns 700 watts which is about 2.50 a day at 15 cent power. you are netting 16.50 a day ______________________________________________________________________________ soooo 2600/16.50 = 158 days.. paid the gear off. Seems like building 2 or 3 or 4 rigs works. maybe it does or maybe it does not if there is a crash. _________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ build 1 rig and hold 2600 cash on the Side for the second rig. and mine if there is a crash even if you mine at a small loss. WTF? this is mine and hold. And can garner big profit. ______________________________________________________________ you need to weigh both methods above. Pedal to the metal full speed ahead vs slow and steady wins the race. I dance between the two. I study a lot of ratios. coin price coin difficulty my cash on hand my gear on hand my debt my coins on hand I juggle all that. Here is a method that can help. sell off used gear at good prices look at ebay right now. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=s9%20hashboard&_sacat=0&rt=nc&_udlo=75&_udhi=200 look who is selling the cheapest used working s9 hashboards. Me way better than anyone else. Why is that? because I held spare parts. hoping for coins to go up in price. thus spare parts go up in price. So rushing in to build can be a bad move. or not. It is what makes this fun. Title: Re: the future of GPU mining.... Post by: Novatech8 on January 15, 2021, 03:58:01 PM I've stopped deceiving myself, I don't think the POS will ever happen because majority of miners out there are mining Ethereum, just imagine what could happen if that stops, Vitalik don't know what he is doing I bet, maybe he already realize that Ethereum truly belongs to POW algo

Title: Re: the future of GPU mining.... Post by: Eco_111 on January 17, 2021, 08:31:33 AM Hi guys, Keep your head up and keep mining, nicehash is good enough for any newbie who can't configure pools and other settings, you will get paid in btc and send the BTC to exchange like binance exchange and change to FIAT, it's easy, the truth is ETH POW will be here for a very long time, do not worry yourself over that. am just getting SERIOUS into mining AltCoins (namely using NICEHASH!!) am building my first real mining rig/high-end desktop PC with 3x 3080s and planning to build more GPU mining rigs down the road... The purpose of eip1559 is a stop hap measure to deal with the high gas fees. It isnt that bad for simple transactions, but it is very high when interacting with smart contracts. IMO if eip 1559 or pos does bring down gas fees, i completely support it even though i am a miner myself. If you havent already, try out defi - it is a game changer |
