Title: Total, Circulating, Max Supply
Post by: RapTarX on January 15, 2021, 07:05:26 PM
I was checking some coins and found they have different amounts for all these three. Total supply, circulating supply and Maximum supply. I know circulating supply refers to the coin circulation, maximum supply refers to the max cap but what does it stand exactly for Total supply and what's the relation between circulating and total supply?

This could be inferred in two different ways, could you give an example.

The way I'd look at it:
Total supply: total amount to ever be available
Current supply: total amount to have been mined
Circulating supply: some metric on coins that have circulated within the past year (changed addresses).

The metric for the latter is obviously much less accurate on generating actual available coins that are usable.

This difference between the three

What is the difference between "Circulating Supply", "Total Supply", and "Max Supply"?
Circulating Supply is the best approximation of the number of coins that are circulating in the market and in the general public's hands.
Total Supply is the total amount of coins in existence right now (minus any coins that have been verifiably burned).
Max Supply is the best approximation of the maximum amount of coins that will ever exist in the lifetime of the cryptocurrency.
