Title: Looking for Auction or other site to sell on
Post by: Billxyz on January 16, 2021, 12:08:55 AM
Hi,
Is there a good auction site or a site I can join to sell art on?

I have a website and I have some paintings in a gallery. But before I set up my site I thought it would be a good idea to try a few auctions or a site to sell my art on.

Thanks,
Bill

Ebay?

What exactly are you looking for? If you're after recognition you might first want to be listed in an art exhibition. I don't know if people are likely to find what you make unless you also do custom stuff?

You might also be able to try this forum but art doesn't get too much traction here imo (physical stuff at least).

I'm looking for a site I can sell my art on that accepts Bitcoin and or other digital currency. I don't need an exhibition or anything like that. My art is in a gallery and on a number of sites being sold by the gallery. I'm just trying to find a new market, ways of allowing people to pay I guess is how you can put it.

My art is on 1stdibs being sold by the gallery
https://www.1stdibs.co.uk/art/paintings/abstract-paintings/william-hewes-tigers-eye-large-abstract-expressionist-painting-william-hewes/id-a_6696732/

and you can go on eBay and search for Bill Hewes because they have 3 of my paintings on there.

I guess you are allowed to auction your art works in the Collectibles section (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=217.0) on this forum.

It is my belief that your art works are collectibles and, as a lurker in that particular section, I noticed certain items which are not really crypto-related but were either sold or auctioned in Bitcoin. So I guess you may start exploring that section and see how you could best start a Bitcoin-denominated auction there.

I wish you luck.

I've seen numerous bitcointalk members who has successfully auctioned their artwork in Collectible  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=217.0)Section.
[1] [AUCTION] ACRYLIC PAINTING! 10TH ANNIV WINNING ARTWORK!!! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5250333.0)
[2] [Auction] Painting on canvas "Bitcoin fun” (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5052835.0)

I think it would also be a good idea if you can create an abstract or a conceptual bitcoin related acrylic/oil (whatever medium you prefer) painting and then auction it here since most of the collectors here are interested in crypto in general. Just follow this  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277761.0)instruction to start an auction for your piece.

Also, there are additional marketplace that you can use.

Thanks for the replies.

I'd have to think about what I could paint seeing I paint abstract paintings.

This is exactly what I’m looking for too, a forum or sight for buyer and sellers that use crypto

They do accept bitcoin on eBay, but the gallery I deal with post some of my paintings on there. So I sent them an email to find out if they'll accept bitcoin. Then I'll post the info on here. That's why I was asking if anyone knew of any sites. I know a while back there was a bitcoin auction site but I think it got hacked so it closed. Of course, it's hard to get some people to trust a site or the seller if they don't know them. Wich, I can understand there are a lot of scammers out there trying to get bitcoin or any coin anyway they can.

I just might use Bitpay or some other site and make payment buttons and use them on my site.

Not sure which one you're referring to but there's still one that was rebranded a few years back: BitiFy (https://bitify.com/) [formerly known as Cryptothrift]
- I haven't used it for a very long time [DYOR before using it].

I just might use Bitpay or some other site and make payment buttons and use them on my site.
I wouldn't recommend Bitpay. Go with either BTCPay or Blockonomics [list of BTCitcoin payment processors (https://github.com/alexk111/awesome-bitcoin-payment-processors)].

Actually if you use google and search the platforms where you can possibly sell your artwork many options well pop up their and its just you need to research on what is best platform for you to place your works on, But you can try to take a look on this site maybe you can see the best platform for you.

OP isn't looking for some NFT or any useless token for selling his/her artworks. He's looking for buyers who can accept bitcoin in exchange for his artwork.

I'm looking for a site I can sell my art on that accepts Bitcoin and or other digital currency.

If it were me, I would also auction my artwork here or to any other bitcoin marketplace than going to a marketplace that pays newly created token. I've seen a similar project before that offers these kind of some sort of gallery but unfortunately the project failed after their investors dump their tokens.

Thanks for the information I'll look into the sites you linked to. I've done searches and I couldn't find anything. Guess I wasn't typing in the correct info or searching the right terms.

I also talked to the gallery I work with and they don't want to accept bitcoin on eBay. The owner isn't sure about digital coins or how they work. I've known about bitcoin and other digital coins for some time and I had some coins on an exchange but it closed because it got hacked and a few days before that happened I thought about withdrawing my coins. I didn't have much maybe $600 USD worth. So it wasn't a huge loss but still, I lost all the coins.

After reviewing some of the sites the link brings me to. It looks like they are for digital art. So they aren't what I'm looking for unless I'm just not understanding what they mean. Because after looking at the artwork posted it all seems to be digital artwork.

Update: I watched a few videos on Youtube and learned about NFTs. So I made my first NFT based on my painting titled Tiger's Eye and it's a 1 of 1. I didn't price it really high it's .33 ETH or $492.12 at this time.

I am also working on offering the original painting with the NFT of the painting if I still have it. I have some photos but I don't have the painting. So people can get the NFT that will be 1 of 1 and the painting, They can do what they wish with it, they can burn like they did the Bansky, keep it or resell it. It will be up to the new owner.

Here's a link to my first NFT and thanks for recommending that I try doing that.
