Title: Can we still mine Ethereum with 4GB cards?
Post by: newminerr on January 17, 2021, 11:00:10 AM
So is it still possible to mine Ethereum with RX570's ?
Have some 570's from a year back and quite unknown towards the dag file.

Expert's suggestion needed.

Thanks

No it's too late, the dag file is over 4gb right now I believe, it's not going to be profitable anymore, now a RX470 with 4gb memory can only do 15mh per second, it's better to sell your gpu or start mining other algorithms

Yes, you still can mine ETH. But only with "zombie-mode". The last versions of top-miners gives an opportunity to mine ETH about a few more weeks with decreasing hashrate every time that DAG grows up.
It`s about 15MH per GPU last time i`ve seen it.

I have seen 17Mhs with lolminer some extra pair of Mhs... for this Epoch

Ethereum mining is still profitable so 17mhs is still not bad but once the profits return to its former self those cards will be completely useless, for me this only makes sense if there is free electricity available and also it's better to create sell order on ebay

It can be better overclock than i saw. But it does not matter anyway - 1-2 weeks will not change the overall situation. The own choice with 4GB GPU - if you have them - mine till it profitable, then mine ETC or RVN, if you to buy it - just forget this idea.

If you are getting low hashrate like 17 or 15 mhs from a RX570 with 4gb it's still fair enough because of the Profit one can get from Ethereum mining right now, I'd say it worth it, don't bother selling the gpus right now, wait till this profitable mining season is over then you can sell them

My video cards 4gb now give 15,16,17 megahash.
Epoch 389
4 GB video cards have been mining cryptocurrency for 4 years, so they do not always keep the maximum overclocking.
There is nothing to replace them with now, and Nis has the fastest payback period.

Have you give a try and it's not working? The only let down is hashrate will be lower than before, this won't stop the graphic cards from mining and Ethereum is still very Profitable to mine for long term I believe so mine with 4gb for now and when it's over or completely obsolete you can find ETC

Was also thinking of mining ETH but the business is sure costly.

Why not start with ETC instead than having some difficulties with hash on ETH?  Probably depend to how much ETC per block.

The problem if I get into mining while I also have no source of funds to support its maintenance is not good. Relying to the tokens I mine to pay for bills will only make the situaion not profitable.

Even with such hashrate mining ETH is more profitable then mining ETC or RVN yet. It will be so about 2-4 week if nothing will change i think.

The answer is YES but hashrate is going to be smaller than you expected, even a rx470 4gb gives only 17mhs highest mining hashrate now and before its around 28mhs to 30mhs, if you feel like the profit is enough then keep mining
