Title: Which Companies Use Symbols Similar to That of Bitcoin?
Post by: Pmalek on January 18, 2021, 02:38:24 PM
While watching an ice hockey match in Hungary a few weeks ago, I noticed something that looked like the BTC symbol on an advertisement on the ice. It turns out it wasn’t a Bitcoin symbol, but the logo of a company which looks similar.

I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be interesting to research which companies use symbols and logos that look like BTC. Still, they are in no way related to the cryptocurrency niche?

I thought I would find dozens of similar logos and symbols. In reality, only a small number of them reminded me of Bitcoin. Of course, you can find hundreds of ‘B’ symbols, but very few of them have any similarities.

This is what I was able to find:

1. Betonútépítő (http://www.betonutepito.hu/en/home/)

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRQdg0kbgEHm1gztiYAsiaeNfP0M3net-R4gw&usqp=CAU

Betonútépítő is a Hungarian construction company established in 1950. It was created after World War II to reconstruct damaged roads, airports, and railways in Hungary. It’s this company’s logo that I saw on the ice in Hungary.

2. Multi-B Construction Corporation (https://www.facebook.com/MBCCrecruitment/?ref=page_internal)

https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/12/zUWff.jpeg
Image source (https://scontent.fsjj1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/49721873_2569630369720724_1026343754627284992_o.jpg?_nc_cat=105&ccb=2&_nc_sid=e3f864&_nc_ohc=6iWlpjYAynYAX9BR_VE&_nc_ht=scontent.fsjj1-1.fna&oh=49be632b5241d819b14ccecb2e5ef836&oe=60296B14)

Seems like the B symbol is significant in the construction industry. This time it’s a Philippines-based construction company called Multi-B Construction Corporation that uses a logo that reminds me of Bitcoin.

3. Bollinger Motors (https://bollingermotors.com/)

https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/12/zUeKZ.jpeg

Bollinger Trucks is a US-based company that develops electric trucks. They plan to start producing environment-friendly trucks by the end of 2021. The logo is a simple letter B, but together with the circle that surrounds it, it reminds me of Bitcoin.

Do you know of any Bitcoin lookalike symbols you would care to share?

Bphone from Bkav corporation with the B logo on their products. They sure don't try to mimic Bitcoin as the Bkav Corporation is born in 1995, long before the day of Bitcoin's genesis block. Bphone is named and the B logo is used to stick with B from Bkav, I believe.

@tranthidung
I have to be honest and say that I have never heard of Bphone or the Bkav corporation before. I have never seen a commercial in Europe  that advertises Bphone. I see that they are based in Vietnam so they are probably focused exclusively on the Asian market.
Their B logo is very similar to that of Bollinger Trucks, just seems a bit lighter shade of orange.

Nice find, thanks!

This is interesting, the symbols with the label B look alike but not really well detailed like that of Bitcoin. It will be more interesting to see companies that is not related to bitcoin using the symbol

I wouldn't say that the symbol of Bitcoin is well detailed. It's quite simple actually. You have a white uppercase letter B on an orange background, or an orange B on a white background, depending on what is more appropriate. The only difference are the two pillars on the top and two at the bottom making the end-result BTC.

The striking or unique thing about the Bitcoin logo or symbol is how
it is morphed from the double bar dollar symbol

The logo is obviously a suggestion its a currency, the single bar dollar
symbol is the standard symbol but the double bar one is an alternative
[like Bitcoin]

Like everything Satoshi did there is an immense thought input.

The only logo I can think of that is remotely similar is the Google's Blogger Logo,
It has a B and is Orange .  .  .

I don't know a company's logo that look a like Bitcoin's but I think the closest is the Thai Baht with a symbol of ฿ and, still, it is not a company but a currency symbol.

I would expect that there's far too many companies using similar logos, just because its very easy to confuse it with currency symbols from various different countries. This subconsciously suggests that you'll earn money, or the brand is particularly prestigious. Although, I must say there's a tonne of Bitcoin companies which incorporate similar looking designs if not the currency symbol itself. Watching the English football leagues you'll see there's quite a few different companies sponsoring various different teams within the pyramid.

Good way to get a stock hype by simple confusion. Just look at Musks twitter

It is orange and has a 'B', but personally, I don't see much of a resemblance. The font and style of the B is totally different. Especially since the bottom part is stretched out compared to the upper part of the 'B'. But I guess it's subjective. Something that doesn't look the same to me may look similar to you.

@traderimage
What are you talking about? What does hype, stocks, and Elon Musk have to do with this topic?

Most designer based their creativity on truly looking for an image that what the targeted niche is doing and also distinction from other similar niche. This is probably what bring about the dollar stroke on the bitcoin. You will discover that most currency symbols have this stroke which might be place vertically, horizontally, diagonally, laterally etc. as it is in $, ¥, €, ₩, ₦ etc. I read that Satoshi intention was to create a universal currency which are not centralized and can be used anywhere in the world which could have been the reason behind the stroke. The letter B is a unique letter because it it the first alphabet of bitcoin

They do, you are right. And if you rotate the picture you posted by 90 degrees you would see that the Meinl cymbals logo looks almost the same as the Betonútépítő logo. Nice one DooMAD.

All companies that use the letter BTC in their logo will look like the bitcoin logo, maybe someone is trying to attract attention, maybe this was before the popularization of bitcoin. But I don't see anything bad in that.

Out of the three listed name the logo of Bollinger Motors looks very similar to Bitcoin logo. I wouldn't be suprised if they say they were inspired by Bitcoin logo.

This is a nice bit of research and you are right there are many companies who are using the alphabet "B" as a logo. These three are surely very close.

This is really interesting that you found these similarities between other company's logo to bitcoin.

Maybe, some of those are intended to follow the footsteps of bitcoin's logo so that it can somehow influence their business about the popularity of bitcoin.

Also maybe some are coincidences and they made that logo while they are not knowledgeable about the existence of bitcoin.

There are many similar symbols, but this does not mean that it is plagiarism.
I think there's no one here accusing those companies of plagiarism. The topic was just about similarity and I think the design of their company logo was made because of the meaning behind it relevant to their company and not in association with bitcoin.

Anyway, of the three symbols provided by OP, I think I find the second one, the Philippines-based company, to have a huge resemblance to bitcoin's logo. I'm not familiar with it even though I'm from that country but if ever I see that company in person as well as it's logo, bitcoin will surely be the first to come to mind.

I've come across Bollinger Motors brand. Rest are new to my knowledge. We can have more and more number of companies having logos relating the bitcoin logo. Myself thought of imprinting Bitcoin logo to my business, but the country is against the usage of cryptocurrencies. Maybe soon I'll do bitcoin acceptance into my business.

Nice find aoluain!
Has anyone else seen something interesting?

The German car manufacturer Brabus has a letter B as a logo. It's not exactly Bitcoin, but looking from certain angles, it reminds me a little bit of the Bitcoin B. Especially the second picture where the letter is in yellow.

Wow, that's quite interesting. Truely, I didn't think about it before watching this post. Now I see there are lots of online and offline companies who use logos that are similar to bitcoin. Maybe they got inspired by this logo. Though bitcoin is not very graphical or sexy looking, it is unique nonetheless. And maybe that's the reason people create logos like this. Well, I also want to confess something I thought about my shop's name and logo, which might be similar to bitcoin. The shop's name will be "Bichan" and the logo will be similar to bitcoin. There is a reason, because with the bitcoin money I am going to start my business. That is why my business is always dedicated to bitcoin. After successfully opening my business, I will share it with you guys. Just pray for me. Thank you.

Those brand logos that OP presented isn't a familiar or famous brands but I can see why there's some resemblance or reminder of the logo of bitcoin. But that's all coincidence or Satoshi or the person who decided on the bitcoin logo might've even been inspired by those very logos.

Highly unlikely. The first company in my OP is in the construction business. They have been around since the 1950s. In my country, concrete is called "beton". Betonútépítő is a Hungarian company, which is located in a country that is part of the same geographical location where I live. I assume they have the same name for concrete. And the B is just the first letter. That's all.

The second company is also in the construction industry and if I remember correctly they were founded before Bitcoin came out as well.
Bollinger is the only that was founded after Bitcoin already became mainstream.

Well, I also want to confess something I thought about my shop's name and logo, which might be similar to bitcoin. The shop's name will be "Bichan" and the logo will be similar to bitcoin. That's great, good luck with your ventures! So in the future there will be one more company to add to this topic. ;)

here it can be concluded that bitcoin and usdt are coin no. 1,

I can't accept any conclusion that implies USDT is a credible asset.  Please don't purport that USD and USDT are the same thing.  They aren't.  USD is a currency.  USDT is a load of unbacked IOUs from a company that could easily go bust and leave you holding a worthless pile of nothing.

In my opinion, the only detail that may be similar to the BTC logo are the letter "B" and anyone can use it because any business logo has this kind of detail in their company logo but I think its not intentional. Maybe they're not aware of BTC and it is a business logo that is different from a currency logo.

I never said that those companies are intentionally trying to replicate Bitcoin's logo or that they are somehow inspired by it. Why would a construction company created 60 years before Bitcoin have a cryptocurrency as its inspiration?!

If you look at the first logo of the Hungarian company, it's not just the letter B. It's also the orange background color. It looks very similar to something you would expect to find on a Bitcoin wallet, for example.

There are no companies near my house that use the B logo, maybe I can find one out there. In general, those who use the B logo for their company symbol because there is a meaning contained in the letter B, they use the letter B as a symbol not aiming that they also join crypto currencies or they also invest in Bitcoin but they use the B logo because there are other goals and objectives.

It was actually a beautiful symbol for me, possibly equal to the ranks of the dollar, yen, euro, and peso. I mean the lines that were placed in the dollar symbol because synonymous to a letter becoming a currency. And that what exactly happened to Bitcoin. A letter B with lines crossing vertically in the middle. Now that symbol is very powerful indeed, and I think that symbol will permeate all of human society for such a long time.

Actually many companies use symbols similar to bitcoin, but it all has their own characteristics and they have different reasons, but for bitcoin symbols I am more interested because there are two pillars above and below and this symbol is very close to the dollar that has a very deep meaning and this also brings us to the income we get if we have it, It's no wonder that so many other companies use the letter B to entice users to own it, but we should know that the symbol means a lot to every business we're developing.

That is the most accurate so far and I remember linking "blogger" logo to bitcoin one in my mind the first time I saw bitcoin, because their similarity in shape and colour. And it's an interesting coincidence, because blogger is from 1999, much older than bitcoin. On the other hand, another logos sharing some similarity (including another currencies) I see nowadays came after bitcoin, so I believe they were somehow inspired by the original crypto currency.
