Title: [WTB] Bitcoins anonymously
Post by: SuperComicsStore on January 20, 2021, 03:09:42 AM
I sell comics and I recently sold comics in exchange for Visa/Master Debit Cards (about $300). I got codes and I have checked them on the redemption site to see if they are legit and they all have balances in it.

What I didn't realize is everywhere I wanted to buy Bitcoins using Debit cards, I am asked to show myself holding a verification card.

Where's the anonymity in that?

Do you folks know of a service that will allow me to convert my Debit card balances into bitcoin/ETH without an ID or without the need to compromise on my Privacy?

Thanks!

Last I heard shapeshift.com still allows you to purchase a certain amount of BTC w/o having to perform any sort of personal ID verification. Not sure if Binance requires ID for making a purchase with a debit card but you may want to check them out... Most other exchanges do require ID.

It does.

Thanks so much. I am definitely going to try it out and post my experience here for others.

Do you also know of a service that let's you buy VCC's from Debit Card? I was on a Privacy subreddit and somebody was discussing that VCCs. I looked up and it looks promising. Your thoughts?

Don't use binance and such banking institutions. They'd fee you up the whazoo. Try localbitcoins.

Hi nutildah, Just wanted to make sure you contacted me directly via email, so that I can go forward with the transaction. I tried sending you a PM but you do not accept it from newbees, hence posting it here. Sorry if it caused inconvenience but I have to make sure it is you before I do a transaction.

Thanks.

Whoa whoa... I'm not doing a deal with you. Someone is trying to scam you. Don't send anything to anyone using my name.

I was just saved. I was going to transfer $100  :-\. How do I post this long email conversation I had with a person claiming to be you so that newbees like me look at it and are saved from this scam.

I was also contacted by someone claiming to be TomatoCage.

Make a screenshot of it and upload it to something like imgur. Alternatively you can just copy/paste your chatlog here if you want.

<---- I had to put this as my personal text a few weeks ago

I was also contacted by someone claiming to be TomatoCage.

What a dumbass. Tomatocage hasn't been an escrow here in years.

Glad to hear you didn't get scammed. Never do business with someone off-forum before confirming they are who they say they are on-forum. Even then, it's always at least somewhat risky.

Just a couple of posts into your first WTB here, eh? Welcome to our scummy little corner of the Internet. :)

nutildah missed an important point for you: most imposters try to impersonate higher-ranked members with a new (newbie) account. Whenever someone like that PMs you, you'll see this at the top of their message:

Quote
!!! WARNING: This user is a newbie. If you are expecting a message from a more veteran member, then this is an imposter !!!

I'd steer clear of any accounts like that if you still want to trade coins on this forum.

Cheers, and glad you didn't lose any.

You want to stay as anonymous, it is good. But you want to use such a method which can be stolen or hacked or something like this.  The original owner can create dispute. Here anonymous means crypto transaction will be anonymous, not the balance of your debit/credit card.

I'm willing to bet their conversation happened over Telegram, and the scammer deleted the conversation before OP had a chance to screenshot it, which is why he never posted the screenshots.

It didn't occur to me I should register my name on Telegram before a scammer takes it -- until after it was too late.

Telegram is the best option for scammer as message of both side can be deleted. Scammers are using almost all the lenders, traders and escrows to scam. Probably not yet anyone created telegram ID base on your name as you have no active thread of lending, trading and/or escrow service. If you create a topic of lending/trading/escrow then scammer will use your name too.

No kidding, right?  Hopefully OP has learned the lesson not to trust impersonators, but I'd also add that you have to be very careful who you deal with even if they're who they say they are.  We've had trusted members of the forum scam people for relatively low amounts and then they just disappear.

Bitcoin attracts scammers like you wouldn't believe, and there are a lot of them right here on bitcointalk (and scams aren't moderated, either).

BTW, Dire: how did you get that special "D" symbol in your name.  That's pretty cool.

Lol, interesting note

https://theasciicode.com.ar/

Its just one of the many special letters available in ascii

146Æ
155ø
157Ø
158×
159ƒ
225ß

Some other interesting ones that would probably work, I haven't tried it though.
