How those phishing apps are even allowed into the store in a first place, don't they have to get some sort of ok from the playstore before being published?

This is the most important question about how these apps are approved in the Play Store. Google itself may not be well aware of how scammers fool Google's verification system and upload these apps to the Play Store. Google takes action only when the community reports on that app, then Google deletes that app from the Playstore.

So before installing any app should be checked, if you hurry, there is a chance to fall into the trap of this type of app.

Things like this have happened a lot. Several other phishing applications have also appeared on Google Play ([WARNING] Fake Ledger Live app on Play Store (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4919613.msg44288284#msg44288284)). Therefore, you should not immediately trust the applications on Google Play. Find out first the information about the application.

Personally, if possible, I usually use the direct application link provided from the original developer's website. So when directed to Google Play, the app must be genuine. There is currently no Trezor application download link that refers to Google Play or the App Store on the Trezor website. Unlike the Ledger, which already has the Ledger live application for smartphones, the Ledger website provides direct links to Google Play and the App Store for the application (https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live/download).

You can upload an application easily on the google play store they don't care too much about the duplicate and the security of the application also you only need is to pay a small amount to publish an application. Compare to iOs they always secured their users about the application will want to launch by the developer its better if we get the application on the reliable source not only by the google play top 1 on the chart always make our research. We are storing money to those application / IoT so still, we need to keep aware of this phishing apps.

Before installing any app, you should properly check whether the app is real or not. Since we are crypto users, we have a lot of information on our phones that is very important, no one wants their important information to go to scammers. So here we have to warn ourselves more. Scammers are always uploading fake apps in Playstore in various ways by evading the rules.
