Bitcoin will be pretty good option for long term investment, if you still really want altcoin... then choose Ethereum.

Any other altcoins is very risky since it doesn't have strong fundamental and holders, you'll see pump and dump scheme.

Don't try to invest in DEFI whenever it's on top 1 token since it's only FOMO and you'll got rekt easily if the token is crash.

DeFi is a no go area for that amount of money, truthfully I invest in DeFi projects but with little amount of money like 100$, I have 100$ in different DeFi projects like Chainlink, avalanche, Polkadot, etc, it's just taking risk sake only, if I have 5000$ I will invest in Bitcoin and Ethereum with 90% of the total amount then I will play the risk game with the remaining amount

We don't know whether you want high risk or low risk investment, whether it's short term or long term but I always prefer major alts or bitcoin which means BTC or ETH. Below that you should do serious analysis and see which one matches your own idea of investing. polkadot is IMO on its peak and maybe this time around is not the right time to buy until there's dip. I'd stick with just ETH or BTC if I seek safe investment though the word safe here might be relative between you and me.

The chances of Ripple winning the lawsuit are increasing and a win will pump the price of XRP to a new ATH.
Within years the CBDC's need to be bridged by a currency which has is all and that will be XRP.
It's very cheap, very fast and very green. Ripple are already working with more than a hundred banks worldwide.

If you're looking for a long term investment with incredibly high returns, then XRP is the one.

Don't blame the guy, there are still many die hard XRP fans in crypto space, if even SEC are on XRP it still doesn't mean it's the end, the team are doing what they can and the SEC power is looking weak on XRP right now, something good can be around the corner for the project

Your top priority investment must be Bitcoin but if you really want to invest into some altcoins for some reasons, here are some of my personal picks.
Ethereum, Polkadot, Chainlink, Cardano, Enjin.

These are just 5 of the popular altcoins that you may choose to invest with. If you really want to invest into DeFi then Chainlink would be the best option for me.

You should not pick the coins that already pumped. Your risk to lose your money caused by the dump will be very high. It's better to think the coins that's not yet pumped.
DOT and BNB already overvalued right now. think about the coins from the TOP 100 CMC that has very good liquidity.
Some coins were also still getting gradual increase too.

Solana and another coin looks a very good choice too.

My answer is bitcoin, if you are ready to gamble then you can look into other top altcoins but Bitcoin remains my first priority because all eye are on bitcoin right now, everyone wants to get a piece of the crypto coin, for long term bitcoin won't disappoint you, and with bitcoin the risk is lesser

I would stay away from investing now as you cannot predict where the market goes when all the coins already touched their all time high valuation. If you are planning to invest there is a certain level of risk and today we saw a decent correction but even still i am not too confident to invest in the market as i will wait for a major correction to invest again.

You are also thinking about Uniswap when questioning, I think it has great potential. Besides Uniswap, Sushi is also very hot, you can invest $5000 in both of these coins.

I recommend that you buy bitcoin 60% of your amount but don't buy everything for the same price. Place orders at a descending price, like so 32-30-28-26-24 thousand dollars this will give you a good average price. From the rest of the coins i recommend that you take a closer look at Polkadot, Ethereum, Bnb.

Bitcoin is the most trusted coin and may be a good choice for your investment. But if you really want to invest in altcoins then you can invest in ETH, LTC, DOT or any other top altcoins.
Trading at Uniswap is a little risky.  Because Uniswap has a lot of fake tokens. You can lose your asset if you trade with fake tokens. So be careful about Uniswap.

I strong suggest if you wanted to invest that 5k dollar into cryptocurrencies you try to split your funds into ADA, DOT, LINK and XLM because they have a very high potential for you to get double or even triple income.

If I were you I will only invest in well-established coins that are existing for years already like bitcoin and eth. Why? Because investing in these coins are less risky compared to defi and new coins existing nowadays.

Its not advisable to risk your money in new coins although not all of them are shitcoins. There are also gem behind new coins but we need to dig deeper in order to find out what new coins are worth to invest in.

Forget UNI and you should watch the top coins market right now. Almost all of major coins have been facing very big correction. Keep your money and you may try to enter into the market right now.

Bitcoin had dropped a lot from the ATH that it made. You should invest half of it which I think will be helpful to you to avoid further losses if altcoins will keep on dropping. I guess Uniswap is a good coin but it's not the type that I'm buying this time.
If it is for altcoins, Ethereum will be the top choice of mine and next would be coins like LTC or BNB. I think those are somehow good coins to have although BNB just reached its ATH, it's still possible to get up which looks like depending to bitcoin's attachment and move.

With 5k usd, you can buy a nice altcoin portfolio but you have to be careful with market volatility. Otherwise, being on wrong side can hurt you and the mistake will suck up all juice from your trading account. Buy low marketcap altcoins and forget the rest. Investing in the low marketcap altcoins can make anyone rich with right applied math and making correct predictions, it is just a guessing game. Some lose balance while others make a ton of money. Overall trading is zero-sum game.

If I were you I'll buy 1 ETH for long term investment also 5 litecoin for long term investment as well and the rest I'll pick some altcoin which have a good fundamental factor, this is for short term investment.

I think at the moment best option to invest in ETH because it will pump further and might reach a new ATH over $2k. UNISWAP is a very good option for investment but it is already pumped. If you are interested in Defi related project then I suggest you buy a little amount of promising Defi tokens.

Agree,  its better to have low profit than suffer many loss because of scam project. Yes, uniswap is a good option as it is the most dominant defi and dex platform so buying maybe 1k worth of UNI would be good, with remaining 4k i suggest to buy trx for 1k eth 1k and btc 2k to really hold a dream portfolio.

Considering the current price of UNI and also its price chart. Many indicators that tells UNI was already overbought and might correct soon. I'm not implying that UNI is a bad investment but entering right is not a good move since it recently pump hard that cause to be overbought. Waiting for the correction is the best way to invest on this coin. Rushing in on this coin might give a huge loss in case the price go south.

You don't know what to do with your 5k USD, so you don't have experience. My advice is not stuck in any hype projects. "Buy low to sell high" and don't invest in any coins. 5k USD is enough investment if you are a good cryptocurrency researcher. Buy any top 10 coins from all 50 altcoins. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is behind this project and it is good alt to invest in 2021.
Will give huge returns if someone hold it for a year.

Diversification is 100% the right answer here. After all whatever you end up buying could go up or down and there is nothing better about it compared to others, sure btc/eth type of huge ones could be pointed better than the others, but even in that situation you shouldn't do purely just btc/eth because that would limit your movement.

Plus invest with 50% of your money, the other 50% should be invested over time so that you could buy cheaper if one falls.

I personally am looking at adding Uniswap to my portfolio, currently I only have ETH and LTC. I dont think that the question is correct, the question should be completed by saying how much % of your weatlh or financial portfolio is 5000USD. ETH, BNB, and maybe XRP or ADA. it might be $ 2000 for BNB, $ 2000 for ETH, and $ 1000 for ADA. or maybe split it into 2 altcoins ETH and BNB with a percentage of 50:50. however, the potential upside for both coins is very high.

I think it's a very good idea to invest. at least we can find the advantages of many types of coins invested even though the profit is small !. But I myself am more interested in piling up on one type of coin, because the benefits obtained there are also greater.

Top coins are the best to invest because it is safer than new altcoins. New altcoins may offer higher profit, but nobody knows what will happening later.
With 5k dollars, i think it should be enough to invest on several coins instead put all in into 1 single coin. If i had 5k, i would buy BTC, BNB, ETH, and DOGE.

If I were you, I think I wanna go to invest on Ethereum, or some coins in top ten of coinmarketcap, because its gonna be more safe and have a lower risk. Also you wanna invest 5k dollars which is a large amount of money though.

$5k is a pretty huge amount already so I suggest you should go investing in some altcoins that have a lot of potential and future projects such as ADA or Cardano.

I'm also supporting other blockchains such as TRX, BNB and ETH because they have the potential and many popular altcoins are created because of them.

Those who want to invest, better hold tight their position since the market dumped hard. Keep focusing the market next couple of hours then make your decision wisely. I have a hard time to figure out to make entry or not. Fact is this has happened many times then a new ATH follows. Might have to get ETH, some cake, matic and other cheap currencies.

I think it is a good time to invest in Ethereum and Binance Coin right now. After Elon Musk's high manipulation of the market, the prices of them both came down. And I think this is one of the nice opportunities to buy some and HODL them.

Bitcoin would only be the best asset to invest for your $5000 especially if you want to invest for the long term, just make sure that you can hold it for a long term to have huge income compared to investing in the short term which is only good for altcoin, just like Dogecoin, if you have invested your$5000 the day you posted it then for sure you have now good income and it is now the good time to pull it out, I don't think that holding Doge for a long term is such a good idea because it is only manipulated by Elon Musk. If you still want to invest in altcoin then go for Electrum and BNB.

This is what I'm trying to say: It seems that Elon Musk is attempting to control the market, and as a result, the BTC and other markets have crashed. Now is the time to invest in potential coins like $ADA, which has a lot of potential.

In my opinion we are still in the beginning of altcoin season, so make invest in altcoin will be great idea. Make portfolio each 50% for high cap and low cap coin. For high cap coin, my suggestion is Solana and AVAX, and for the low cap coin is Chia and HNS.
