If that only I knew about Bitcoin before I come into the forum, (maybe) I was in the regrets of not buying it but I'm not, so I don't make myself blame it.

It was just in perfect timing that Bitcoin makes a surge unpredictably which everyone who knows before not to believe that it goes like this, surely they are in regrets. This is about faith, everyone who got this thing will be grateful, and those who did not will be simply asking themselves why?

I learned about bitcoin then maybe in 2010 but I was in my early 20s and was more interested in other things. Probably would not have been responsible with it or kept them to see the gains a decade later. That is the way life goes can't beat yourself up over things that you didn't do.

Well, I believe most of the forum members would regret not buying bitcoin back in 2011, as we thought it's unreal but I am glad that I started earning through signature campaigns when Bitcoin was trending as low as $300, I still do regret not investing into Bitcoin at the begining of 2019 wherein Bitcoin was still affordable and it's not going to help us just regretting the missed opportunities, instead we need to buy at next dip.

The only thing I regret about it is probably not knowing about Bitcoin early enough. 2012-2015 were pretty much the hardest years in my life. Bitcoin was there, still growing and I freakin' knew nothing about it yet I was one social media almost 12 hours each day  :-[

But aside from that, Bitcoin has really changed my life especially when I learnt how to trade. I have been able to afford almost everything that could make my life easier apart from a few more "luxurious things" that I do hope to achieve soon.

Most times, regrets are not the way to go about most of these things that happened to us at some point in our life's. You might be busy reminiscing on your past errors that you fail to realize the opportunity right before you. Is this the end of growth for bitcoin, I believe the answer is no and yet, some persons don't own a Satoshi yet! It's another thing to be regretful about in the later future should steps not be taken now.

For most persons, they weren't aware or financially capable as the value and what it took to earn a dollar isn't what it is today. Should we look at it this way, should time be revised and you had not the knowledge you possess now, I don't see how you would be making a different decision than you did a decade ago.

Everything you did at certain points of your life is the only thing you could have done at that time. Your no fortune teller to look into the future. You can only try and make predictions but, hardly will your predictions play out as predicted. It's life and investment. Let your experience lead you and no time for regrets.

At that time I did not know about bitcoin and this forum many people also did not know about Bitcoin. In my opinion those who knew about bitcoin in 2011 have changed their lives, for many it does not apply because many could not hold bitcoin. However, it is very frustrating for those who knew about bitcoin in 2011 but not buy for future.

I don't think you can't blame them, I mean, who thought that bitcoin will be a thing of the future. Most people at that time we're skeptic about bitcoin and doesn't even think that it will even reach a thousand dollars but years passed and it reached the thousand dollar mark but it dump afterwards. Also, Bitcoin being a bubble is also a thing that investors fear about it.
Anyway, I don't regret anything about bitcoin as I haven't invested any money but time and effort for me to earn. It also helped me a lot financially as college student.
What I might rather regret is why I only figured and heard bitcoin on 2016 and not earlier. If only I've known bitcoin way way back then it might helped me earlier and I might have be more invested on it.

The thing is that it is still a very nascent technology back then. And no one knows that it will took off in the next 10 years. So for those who sold early, I wouldn't say that they have to regret it and yes you can't blame them for selling early.

They could have been millionaires today, but it's not too late to invest again today and hold for the next 10 years. Maybe history will repeat itself, and perhaps it won't make you very rich, but at least you can still make a ton of money.

Too late to wallow in regrets, we all did not know that it will come this far, hypes and speculations are mixed altogether so we have a hard time from sifting through what is right and wrong, also worth mentioning that FUDs were a prevalent threat to bitcoin as it was still a little known technology back then. Every time is the right time to buy bitcoin, the next thing to do is to wait.

regret always comes at the end, if it comes at the beginning it is called registration. So actually there is nothing to be sorry about because even though bitcoin is currently experiencing a great surge, I believe bitcoin will be even higher in the next few years. why not start now to have bitcoin

And tbh, regrets are waste of time, if I keep thinking about BTC then other regrets pop up soon after, it would be better to just make best use of current time.

This kind of things happen frequently and there's definitely no point regretting it. though I'm myself also one of those people who regrets selling it when it was about $10K lol.
Truth is none of us know what future holds, last year people regretting not buying apple stock, and this year bitcoin. I bet these kind of people including us who regret like this if were given chance to rewind time but with memory from future not intact. We would've done the same exact thing lol. it's just how we behave.

I already know bitcoins on that year but I didn't put much interest which is really my regret now since the price from before were so large I can be rich by just waiting for years of holding but did not happen. I wish I bought a lot of bitcoin that time so I can invest some of it while others I will suppose to be making some food business in my place which is a good line of industry if I execute well.

Well, that's such one of the biggest example of regrets back in the days when Bitcoin was within the reach of our very hand, when everyone can surely afford 1 Btc.
Now, I guess we will be seeing similar tweets and post like this in the future for not buying when Bitcoin was still $20,000 - $40,000. Some people doesn't understand how Bitcoin is consistently increasing each and every year, that literally a mediocre Bitcoin investor would think $1,000 per Btc was very expensive. I expect a lot of regrets like this in the future, but this one of the biggest regret of all time lol.

It's a common trend of regrets coming out when an assest is doing quite well for itself. Most are manipulated and aren't actually event that happens but just attention seekers although that doesn't mean there aren't legit regret out there. If the market is to dumped too you'll still see regret of users not selling at the peak.

You selling at $20k wasn't not that bad if you bought at lesser price, the ideas of trades is to profit so the moment you see profits you should secured it. I understand the price is currently trading above your sell price but don't be too harsh on yourself probably the market will present opportunity for you to re-enter the market below $20k.

Yeah I'm glad I don't have $500 worth of bit coin from 2011 , that would be about 400 bit coins, and impossible  to spend . Imagine the tax you would pay . Total capitol gain.

I'd rather have invested the $500 in drugs that I could always sell for cash, with no tax man looking over my shoulder . had you bought heroin ,and resold it ,time after time since 2011 ,each time investing your profit , your gains would make BTC look like monopoly money ( worthless) .   Buffet and Gates would look like penny anti losers next to you .
But alas I bought neither !!

Regretting what happened is useless.
Maybe someone will regret not buying bitcoin when it was cheap last year. But all of that we cannot regret. Because we never know what will happen in the future about the price of bitcoin. This is volatile.
All can be a lesson so that we buy bitcoin when the price is cheap and hold it until the price is really high. And maybe we need to wait a few more years to wait for bitcoin to be cheap.

It is true that I am one of those people who deeply regrets not buying Bitcoin in 2011, when the price was very cheap. But it's useless to regret it,
because I can't go back to 2011 to buy Bitcoin. So what I can do right now by not repeating the same mistakes, therefore I started collecting
as much Bitcoin as I could. Even though the price is already expensive, I believe Bitcoin will be even more expensive in the future.

In my case, I didn't know about Bitcoin in 2011. I learned of its existence back in 2016 and bought some. If you look back you may think that if you had bought more, you would have more profit now. But I have no regrets.

Even though I knew about Bitcoin as something there on 2011 but I didn’t knew its characteristics nor I knew how money actually works. There is nothing to regret with for not buying something when you did not knew about it overall. But at one point in time I learned about its characteristics, understood its value, and learned how money actually works. This made me go to exchanges to buy Bitcoin and get involve in this investment.

I really don't regret it since I'm probably too young to buy Bitcoin at that year. What I regret the most is having known Bitcoin but doesn't have the capability to buy it, though this is the only regret I have to be honest since I'm fairly satisfied that I've known the existence of cryptocurrency before it become so big.

Title: Re: Anyone else still regret not buying Bitcoin in 2011?

There's no point in regretting things that we could have done, predicted whatsoever. I knew about Bitcoin since I was 13-14, if I am not mistaken, back when it was worth $200-300. Didn't know much about it, I just used faucets and wandered around the web at that time. I cannot say I regret not buying back then or not keeping any BTC I had earned, (Faucets paid a lot in Satoshi's back then), because I didn't know, even if I did, how could someone predict something like that?

We can't keep living with our regrets, because if I do, I'll have quite a few Bitcoin related ones. Not buying at $200, not buying at $3.000 and bla bla bla. Infinite loop. Just look ahead on what you can do now, not what you COULD have done several years ago.

Title: Re: Anyone else still regret not buying Bitcoin in 2011?
Post by: Lucius on January 23, 2021, 11:25:15 AM
Why only 2011? It is true that this was a time when prices were ridiculously low compared to today, but those who have been following BTC for a long time know that during 2015 it could be bought for under $200, and the first half of 2016 for under $500.

Regret makes no sense, it’s just a waste of time - and the only benefit of the past is that we learn something and try to apply it in the future. Before BTC reached $1000 it could often be read on the forum that any purchase below that level was cheap, then the same thing was applied to the $10 000 level, and today, although it may sound a little excessive everything below $100 000 may seem like a bargain given how high the price can jump in the next 5 years.

I would bet that in 2031 someone will ask a similar question, maybe then $30 000 will seem a rather insignificant figure, who knows... I hope that some of us will witness that time ;)

Fortunately I dont know bitcoin from that age, lolz. But I get jealous of people who are in the crypto since that period but they have not bought them or did not trust it at the first time.

In this statement it could be right and wrong both at that period. After 2008 economic crisis people were scared and they were absolutely fearful for stocks, share market investments. Considering bitcoin on the other hand was completely new era for everyone.

The techy's who believed back then got turned into legends in today's date. However, it's worthless to blame common man since people are still repeating the same mistake today. If they are not believing it today then how can we expect them to invest back then.  :P :P

You might be jealous but you shouldn't. The reason why? it is because it is not your time to do it, they know Bitcoin first compared to you, they are buying and risking their money because they believe that Bitcoin will give them a great return. Because if that you know it together, you might be doing as well or you might ignore this opportunity the same just like what the others did that who are now in regrets.

I don't regret not buying at that time. To be honest, I hope I knew bitcoin that time so I don't have a regret since in the first place I don't know that crypto currencies exist. Another thing is that if I bought bitcoin at the price and at that year, for sure I already sold it and I am regretting that I sold it so quickly and didn't wait for this bull run to come.

For my long stay here in bitcoin, I consider that as huge regret for sure cause if only I had the idea way back that bitcoin would reach this far, I'm probably a billionaire already right now. But since we can't take back time anymore, all we can do now is make the right decision while we still can earn lots from it. Enough with the regrets, let us keep up with other people and keep on going to achieve what we really want. We can all be rich as long as we stay faithful to our goals.

I regret being only 16 years old hahaha, I am very interested in Bitcoin and blockchain for about 4 years now. I'm sure that if I was born earlier I would have bought Bitcoin earlier then when I did now (2017), also I would have invested more money in it because yeah now I'm 16 so I don't have that much money. But still I'm very happy with the profits I make, it's not all about the investment, it's about the technology too.

I don't think I have any regret luckily for me I came board around 2016 or 2017 when I was fully involved in it before the price reached ATH, thus so far so good and I am very sure there more opportunities to be derive and abound in bitcoin more profits to be earned in the nearest future as far as I keep on hodling it.

So, what important is today and that's what matters now for bitcoin. I knew bitcoin 2016 and started my interest on it that's why I ended up accumulating bitcoin for  free and the only I regret selling it and if still holds it until now it would be a huge money.

I believe 75-96% of all the people that are into cryptocurrency today regretted in one way or the other that they don't invest in Bitcoin at the early stage, lost passwords or keys to their old storage and don't mine Bitcoin when GPU was used.
With that been said, my own regret is not accumulating Bitcoin when I have a chance back in the year 2011 when Bitcoin was still in the $1-$2 price range cause I thought going to have the same story as e-gold which had a problem with the US government.

You are talking about 10 years ago when btc was not at all famous among masses and only few people who got indulge in crypto at that time got opportunity to buy at lower prices. I came across btc 5 years ago only but still I was tool not to invest my time and money in it and I think many more feel the same with me.The prices have gone too far this time taking them to ATH to $35-$40k range so who have not invested in btc might feel bad for him or sold at lower prices.Imagine the situation of person who have ordered the most expensive pizzas of 10000 worth Bitcoin? So it's the time and mover advantage that you can get. There might be many lucky persons who have invested pennies in btc and now sitting on piles of money.I would regret if I still not be part of monetary and financial revolution that will take decentralised cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin to top and prices will boom at that time.So be smart invest now if you have not invested earlier because investing at $30000 will not hurt when prices will reach $100k or will it still be expensive investing opportunity?

btc at around  $10,000 is much expensive than the price shown on the tweet .
thats justifiable if you havent bought any but you can start a new positive investment life if you are feeling negative in the past , buy small amounts if you cant afford btc at a whole and keep it for another 10 or more years .
an any ordinary crypto today can be like a bitcoin on the past , no one invest on them because no one will know how are they going to worth in the future but its not too late because theres plenty of ordinary coins that havent growned huge that may have a potential

Biggest regret in life was not knowing Bitcoin when it was that low of a price, imagine buying a heap amount of Bitcoins and selling it at the ATH value, you're more than a millionaire, those guys are definitely the luckiest people who had that amount of patience with holding, I personally regret not buying a single bitcoin when it was that low, all of us missed the opportunity of actually making that much of a profit, and I felt Nick's regret when he didn't bought BTC at $2.70, that could have been a huge profit.

There are even more regrets from individuals which we are not known, but the truth still remains that most of today Bitcoin enthusiasts have some regret of not be on bitcoin early. I wasn't clear with the Bitcoin jargon's during my first days with Bitcoin, so, i thought it wasn't a profitable investment until the year 2017. In the early days of Bitcoin mining a very close friend used his old laptop for mining but dispersed the laptop becasue Bitcoin wasn't clear to him, but late 2017 he's regretting his actions.

I got to know bitcoin in early 2016 and it was still around $ 400 USD at that time and at that time it was quite expensive for me. I couldn't buy much at that time, just relying on Giveaways, Faucets and other free work to earn Bitcoin.
There is no regret of not buying bitcoin at that time, I am quite satisfied with my experience so far. Getting to know Bitcoin made my future better, even though I didn't own tens or hundreds of bitcoins. The most important thing is to make good use of each increase by taking profits when trading.

If I had the opportunity to repurchase crypto in 2011, I would've probably invested in it or probably discovered the forum earlier. Imagine if you have been mining BTC with a decent computer, you would've made millions now. It's all about the timing as well. I have been part of this forum because I was immediately interested in what Bitcoin could do and the opportunity it gives to the people in control. P2P transfers are a game-changer. Anywhere in the world with minimal fees (a long time ago).

That's really a sad experience by Nick Allen. Definitely a regret for him, but it's never too late. Remember that.

I personally regret my decision to not read more about bitcoin in 2012.
I saw it on a forum where I hang out almost every day to talk about online business.
the first time I read about it, I thought it was a new kind of MLM, so I decided to not read it again.
1 year later, more thread about bitcoin on that forum. however, the price is already high at that moment.
again, I thought 1 BTC is the smallest unit, and I have no chance to get a whole 1 BTC.
I think those misleading information still often encounter these days.

There are some memes we often see who used to have fun out of BTC back in the day when there was ceratin drop but eventually they regret it. One of them is @Gregschoen who sold 1700 bitcoin for $0.30 each and regret later when it was $8 each.
I was more or less active on the internet in 2011 but never heard the term Bitcoin at all. Otherwise, I would have regret as well  :D

In my case, I didn't know about Bitcoin in 2011. I learned of its existence back in 2016 and bought some. If you look back you may think that if you had bought more, you would have more profit now. But I have no regrets.
Very similar to my experience though, becasue back in 2017 i gat to know about the said Bitcoin which many criticized to be a Ponzi scheme but unfortunately i went with those who called Bitcoin such names and miss out of the opportunity. But towards the end of 2017 i got some of my Bitcoin but wasn't much in quantity, how i wish i bought something good back then.

Each and every year has a regreting points. But it's really a great contrition for not buying bitcoin back in the past whatever it's 2011 or 2015 or 2018 as those are the year of bottom on bitcoin's price after making a new ATH. Also, it won't stop further as we don't know how long will go bitcoins. So, never miss any bottom to buy back.

There is no point in regretting, i still consider myself luck as i was able to enter the market when the price of bitcoin and some of the major alts were in its infant stage and i made a decent profit in the market and i am more than happy with the way things went and there is no point in having regrets. If you are regretting then there are many stocks that i missed during its IPO and turned into millions in a short period.

I knew Bitcoin way back maybe 2014 when price is $500 but I don't  regret because I don't really have money to buy. For a less fortunate guy like me, regret is not an issue it is just fair because spending Bitcoins for family's basic needs is my priority.

Regrets are normal but we have to move forward. No one knows what will happen back then and everyone has a reason why even with the positive speculation about the future of bitcoin, others didn't buy or at some point, they have lots but decided to sell it early for personal reasons.

Rather than think of what things we didn't able to do before, focus on the current one and always think of a way how to accumulate BTC at any means.

You mean by joining bounty and earning the coin is your priority. There is nothing wrong in that but you cannot make much profit by just joining in bounties and i am not sure the alt bounties are even profitable.

@OP, the only regret i have is that i did not invest like i wanted to hold for the long term when the price was really low and i gambled a lot with the coins i owned, over all i am happy with my investment as it helped me in earning a much bigger profit than any other investment.

What I regret now is I did not buy when the price is very low, I started to use bitcoin when the price is almost $500 only, that is wayback 2017, in that time bitcoin is easily to get in some faucets for free, I hope I look for more in my future that time so that i will be having some money now and stated to put my investment into different forms. But then, I would make it as a lesson that I will keep in mind for years so I could grow as a person.
