Post by: cryptomark2021 on January 24, 2021, 05:00:34 PM
Hi all, I am newbie in Altcoin purchasing and I would like to understand how to choose a good exchange for coin with lowcap.
What should be a good volume for the exchange? I see exchanges like Mercatox, Hotbit, Probit etc.

How to choose?

Are you a holder or a trader? Are you concerned about kyc or not?

Why not binance? Known and can be use without kyc. Though depends if those alts you want is listed there, kucoin as well. Those you mentioned has lower trading volume and idk if kyc is required in able to use its platform.

Read fervently about alt-coin any one you interested in
Will afford you an easy route to purchase their alt-coin, links to where it can be purchased will be added to their site or where its public, this exchanges can be more than one, but if you on to something written by the creators of the alt-coin the exchanges they put-out for purchase should be safe.

Let's say I am an holder (min 3 month).  The altcoin I found are not listed in famous one like Binance. They have really low market cup: 100k.
At the moment I am just seeing them on Coinmarketcup and would like to start selecting them by the exchange they are listed.
So I would like to understand if the exchanges are good or not.
How should I interpret the volume and liquidity values for the exchanges?

If those alts has only limited exchanges then so be it. Wether they good or not since you don't have a choice.

What I usually do, I exchange the tokens/alt to famous pair such btc, eth, or usdt and transfer eventually to other exchanges.

But if you think those alts have potentials, you can hold them on wallet you fully access. Avoid using exchanges as an alternative to wallets.

most exchanges are not good. what you can do Is buy altcoin on those exchanges that you mentioned and then withdraw and leave in your wallet until it is listed on some big exchange like binance and other good ones. It is common knowledge that most exchanges are not good, but charge low listing fees, which is why many new altcoins list on these exchanges that are not good.

So in my opinion it is better to sell these altcoins because they have a fairly low market cup, it will probably not go up as usual they only rely on the lowest exchange to list them, if this altcoin is the result of buying then immediately don't let the price fall further and usually. Altcoins that are not found on major exchanges are difficult to determine whether they are good or not.

Why not go directly with popular exchange such as binance to experience your first trade. Honestly not so popular crypto exchange only has low amount daily volume and you will find many shit tokens/coins there which is not worth to invest your money.
Binance exchange has daily volume of 1m$ for different crypto that trades there you can also avoid investing in shit tokens because binance will not just list coins for pump and dump reason .

In this case, you can buy cryptocurrencies from binance and move it to a noncustodial wallet, use a reputed noncustodial wallet, there are many fake ones, you need to be careful. Not you key not your coin, that is why you can not leave your coins on custodial exchanges.

The altcoin I found are not listed in famous one like Binance. They have really low market cup: 100k.
The reason why such coins are not listed is because their marketcap is too low, only buy altcoins with high marketcap, looking for the first 50 to 100 altcoins is better and still be careful. Do not buy low volume coins, they are shit or almost dead or dead coins.

So I would like to understand if the exchanges are good or not.
There are many exchanges you should not trust, do not trust exchanges listing low value coins, there are possibilities that you will see the coins today trading while it is delisted tomorrow. Also, people often lose to this type of coins, do not trade such coins or you will likely lose. The chances that you will lose is more than 99.99%.

How should I interpret the volume and liquidity values for the exchanges?
There is no much about this, what will likely happen are:

1. The coins will not be able trade at expected limit order
2. Another demerit is that, for example, if the coin price is $1, you trade it with market order, it could be filled at $0.5 or lesser in which you will lose from the beginning of selling if the price has not much risen.

Thanks all for the informations.
Is Uniswap to be considered safe? I see it in few alts.

Well, the truth is the cryptocurrency market is too broad for any one exchange to cover all coins and tokens. Most people would think that Coinbase and Binance have covered the entire market since they've been around for the longest. However, there are so many exchanges trading across the board.

Depending on which altcoin you want to invest in, most exchanges can be found on sites like CoinGecko or Coinmarketcap. The easiest way to verify whether the exchange is good or not is according to the feedback of other users. Check the ANN thread of the exchange here on the forum and search the Scam Accusations board to see if there are any complaints. You're going to have to verify things on your own, because it's not always a smart idea to blindly trust others, so you need to do your own research.

Thanks all for the informations.
Is Uniswap to be considered safe? I see it in few alts.

Uniswap is decentralized token swap platform running on the Ethereum blockchain. The platform enables the swapping of any ERC20 compatible tokens via smart contracts. It's a simple, secure and reliable environment. Unlike centralized exchanges, Uniswap traders can exchange their tokens without having to trust anyone with their funds.

Binance and Kucoin are simply best for cryptocurrency trading, Kucoin have 5 BTC withdrawal limit per day without KYC.

It’s safe and better as it’s not centralize exchange but there are risks too. If you check some projects in CMC, you may see a notice liquidity can be stopped.

It's safe on it's own, just make sure you confirm the contract address of token you are purchasing, since there tends to be lot of scams related to that.

Also, the fees to buy/sell tokens there tends to be too much, like $20 a single trade. Just something to keep in mind.

(....)
This is one of the problem on Uniswap, having some clone or copy-cat projects and you will ended up getting rekt purchasing some fake altcoin.
But what most problem here is, knowing that not all small marketcap is good altcoin, some of them are being shitcoin also because they have a small market cap  (but not all).
You just always do your own research.
Uniswap is good and other decentralized exchanges like Sushiswap.

If you do not want too much KYC I recommend to use Binance too if you are not a big-time trader, investor this is a good chance to use this the minimum withdrawal is just 2 BTC this is not a verified account yet, but if you want too you can, also I know an exchange to is the uniswap but you need to connect first your wallet into it, like the metamask, coinbase, fortmatic, walletconnect, and portis. just want to provide the links to prevent directing to suspicious links.

1. Binance - https://www.binance.com/en
2. Uniswap - https://app.uniswap.org/#/swap

I see exchanges like Mercatox, Hotbit, Probit etc.
I have seen in the past issues about them in the past. They are somehow popular for those altcoins that don't get to the mainstream of the community for crypto investors and traders but I suggest you to choose better than them. I agree with the suggestion of Binance, you are in the good exchange and aside from that, the owner of is responsible for whatever action he's taking to bring up to his users. As you see, majority tells you to use Binance.

Since you have seen them on crypto coinmarketcap means they have significant volume even though the market cap is still low. I assume the tokens you saw is probably traded on uniswap since most presale now started with a little few less liquidity. Uniswap is good and can easily be recognized for volume this could increase depends on the project. Some others consider a low cap a potential gem.

Cryptopia, tradeogre and Stex are the best altcoin exchanges for me, sadly cryptopia is down, the reason why I prefer this exchanges isn't about security because binance and other top exchanges win the match of tight security but these exchanges have affordable withdrawal fee, so limit and affordable

You can use IDEX, EtherDelta, or Uniswap since they're trusted, safe, popular and decentralized.

Mercatox, Hotbit, Probit etc.
Those exchanges are centralized, worse and scam... don't use it
Mercatox 9 scam accusations (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168200.msg53786250#msg53786250)
Hotbit 6 scam accusations (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168200.msg53270874#msg53270874)

Cryptopia, tradeogre and Stex are the best altcoin exchanges for me
It's not good exchanges, there's has been many accusations on some victim
1. TradeOgre SCAM? Admin supposedly stole 3 btc (screenshots included) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5108040.0)
2. Big Trouble with TradeOgre (Money confiscation) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5045983.0)
3. I was lost coins from tradeogre.com everyone please be careful (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5049433.0)

Everyone going into Bitcoin or any coin of your choice ought to have a reason for it, either the person is ready to keep them or for exchange purposes, Binance is one way in which you can safe your coin and do other things which you want to. So first set a priority of either to safe or sell it, then others will be exposed to you.

What altcoins do you want to buy? You also must consider the volume of the altcoins on the exchanges, not only about the popularity of the exchange. I suggest you not choosing the exchange because of the big name of the exchange only, but how good the volume of the altcoins you want to buy there. You can check the volume easily through Coinmarketcap or CoinGecko.

Those exchange you gave are very low volume exchange and can list any project without proper investigation been done. Mercatox is known for listing any project that has the funds to meant their listing fees. They have countless amount if scams and shitcoin on their exchange. Also they're known to be the go to exchange for pump and dump schemes. Their trollbox is also known for hosting scammers and shillers hyping another worthless token.

This is just for the mercatox exchange but I'm certain others have their disadvantages. If you're looking for a worthy exchange and aren't concerned about your privacy (sensitive information been required) they you can go for the too vex out there like the likes of binaces etc but if you want to transact with decentralized exchange then uniswap would do the trick.

Be very cautious though as anything can be listed on the Decentralized exchanges,  even well known scams and fake tokens.

Good altcoin will do very well on any exchange I believe, it's all about the altcoin itself, top exchanges have a big impact on altcoins when they are freshly listed but good altcoins can survive on small exchanges too, it's all about the potential of the altcoins

Are the Exchanges responsible for low volumes? Can you explain that part very well cos I believe that adoption rates is what will determine high volume and low volume, pump a shitcoin on any small exchanges now and see how high their volumes will grow

I think the best way is to buy the coin before it goes on the big exchange

I think Binance would be the best option for you.  Here you will find solid security.  You can use Houbi Global Exchange.  This is also a very good exchange at the present time.
