Also, it is true that many upcoming DeFi projects will turn out good, hence the need to take out time and understand what majority of them are actually working on and aiming to achieve.
I don't know about all majority of these aforementioned DeFi projects, but whichever you want to invest in, do well to carry out your own research, know the team's experience and their long term goals towards to growth of the platform, and also know how engaging and supportive the community is. Nevertheless, Reef looks like a good one, but I will need to do more study on it. In my opinion, these projects have good prospects. But institutional investors will work with Bitcoin and Ethereum: Crypto giants with an impeccable reputation.

Unilend is quite better than fantom even unilend being launched last year and it gives a very big return to the investors. I have been watching fantom and there's no interesting stuff was coming from this project too. That being said if fantom is less popular compared with the defi coin like unilend that has been making a lot of ROI too. These days the defi lending services are in demand. The idea that already taken by nord finance is a big complicated to be developed as the product. A lot of them already showing an exit scam. Seseral finance is one of them. The truth is that some people or group take advantage of trending projects to create a mirage of scam. While Defi was the talks of 2020, I really think the high transaction fee paid on ethereum block chain has been the major k leg. They are offering similar services to what most of the Defi that has been around for long are offering, there is really nothing new in what they have to offer.
Anyway, I believe that it’s not really a matter of whether they are offering the same services as others or they are offering something new, I think the most important thing here is how serious they are with what they are doing and whether they are going to be good at promoting it and investors and adopters. For this year I’m looking at Sushi, Yearn.finance, Uniswap, Chainlink, and Avalanche. For example YFI became something amazing and a lot of people made a lot of money from it, but the reality is that that was it and I do not think that making exactly the same thing over and over again would mean anything in the end, it will definitely make you lose money if you invest into a coin that copied another coin. Which is why when you are picking defi always go for something that is brand new.
One exception is that if something exists in one chain and doesn't exist in another, copying it to another chain could still be valid. Aside from that, always go for original ideas that doesn't exist anywhere else, you could make a decent amount of money from those kinds of original tokens.
