Are they pulling a Robin Hood on us?!?!!

Tried 40 mins to get in - and when I am in it's impossible to trade, it just kicks you out!

Happens quite a lot when the market has significant moves, both up & down. This is why it’s better to do LIMIT BUYS & SELLS. Your orders get filled automatically then which lessens the impact of down time on you. I’m speaking from experience.

It's not right... They should have better servers... or whatever... Is this all open to fraud like Robin Hood??

it is somewhat understandable and no amount of server can predict this. they are basically being DDOS attacked while it is not really an attack it simply is demand. a demand called FOMO.

when the price rise started a couple of hours ago, hundreds of thousands of newbie weak hands who had panicked sold last week rushed to the exchanges with great fear trying to buy bitcoin while seeing the price keep going up and them losing opportunities.
this much sudden traffic crashes any servers and it will keep growing since more people find out about the rise and get filled with fear of missing out soon.

When will this end? In the short term? How long to these FOMO PUMPS last?

it is not a pump, it is certain people making rash decisions. it happens during drops too. they usually don't last that long but it is hard to predict. some actual DDOS attacks also happen during these times from butthurt people who are losing money because of price going up. it shouldn't be any longer than half a day (most of the times).

you have to follow the exchange's announcements to know for sure.

I think it's normal considering all the current situation with GME and people that are late in the train and are trying to see if they can take advantage of any kind of rise in anything really. With the push from Elon they are also turning their heads to BTC hence Coinbase and Kraken (perhaps others?) are taking the fall.

What I can say to you is to keep trying until you're able to do whatever you are doing. As always, remember to always double check every information when you're dealing with this kind of trade (Address mainly)

I believe some exchange besides kraken and coinbase experience a temporary maintenance after a quick pump on the today. Due to insane volume of transaction in short period of time, Most system might get an error that will result for a temporary maintenance. Kraken and coinbase is benefiting on exchange fees especially on a trillion dollar market cap, Why they will run while they have a good position on this huge market?

Nothing new whenever their is a big pump exchanges do tend to get stuck due to high volume. Their have been many instances when such issue have happened with coinbase. Still they have not learnt from the past.

Kraken Balances & Login was down while the trading platform *the Battle Station* was relatively stable for an outburst. I was able to put/cancel orders in 30% of the time. I don't think the Kraken crash is connected to Robinhood. I believe it was a normal technical problem as I got '500 timeout error' multiple times.

Everything is fine for me for nearly 10 hours. For you?

I still can see the Battle Station trades but cannot 'Connect to start trading'

I think binance have make announcement as regard to that. Withdrawal were deactivated and users are not allowed to trade. They claim it was due to traffic congestion especially for new trader that want to sign up. I don't know how true is this but since no one has complain of their wallet getting tampered it so it is not due to hacking or anything. A lot of people are actually going crazy because of dogecoin ;D so maybe that is what makes binance to going down but everything seem to be normal now

This is really annoying, Many traders have lost their money due to these useless maintenance excuses. Not only do they turn off the service during pumping, they also turn off the service when the price goes down.


Stop Limit is not a proper solution, it is another kind of trap. I've faced many unnecessary bounces when placed stop-limit conditional order. for this reason, I left Kraken and moved into Bitstamp and Binance.

They will give preference to new people signing up snd depositing surly??? Simple business acquisition strategy!

Checking the 12-24H char, there shouldn't be much losses but instead, others are didn't able to get in.

But that's really annoying when you want to do something but your trading platform isn't accessible or having downtime. They should at least prepare or can handle the heavy loads on that scenario as it was always expected when the price is going crazy.

Given the profits they make it is really irresponsible of all of them to be unable to provide their services whenever there is an increased demand for those same services. It just shows us how unprepared these companies are for what everyone wants, and that's a bigger adaptation - while at the same time the basic infrastructure is cracking at the seams every time a slightly bigger pump happens.

I personally do not use their services, but I think all users should put constant pressure on them to upgrade their infrastructure and provide uninterrupted service to their customers.

Yes, opening an account is free, You can start trading immediately by registering an account on Binance or Bitstamp. Even you don't have to pass any KYC on Binance. without KYC you can withdraw 2 BTC daily. that means the daily withdrawal limit is 2 BTC without KYC. If you have to withdraw more than 2 BTC/day then you must have to pass KYC.

Yes, I cannot understand why this is continuing to happen and why Coinbase
[this is the exchange I use] have not come to terms with sudden swings in
demand either buying or selling. Lets face it, these events are normal for crypto.

The cynic in me thought that the last time this happened , Last week I think
as the price fell, Coinbase deliberately went offline. but it happens even when
the market moves up, they are not doing themselves any favours loosing out on revenue.

Just with the whole Robin Hood fiasco I am even more suspicious! But ah well... Business is business!

Just checked coinbase now and it is working fine. The outage and disruption was not because of Robin Hood but because of Elon Musk status changed to "Bitcoin BTC" which caused the big pump in the market and as usual coinbase unable to handle lot of traffic.

COINBASE:  "No assets could be found."

Coinbase Pro and Kraken have been having problems with their server since noon today. without giving any previous notice They are showing service maintenance. Nowadays if you open Kraken and see that they are in maintenance then it is confirmed that the price is either at the top or at the bottom.

it is not the real cause of this price increase although in this cryptocurrency market, it has always been so. if we continue with this kind of things we will be in a very bad direction, look that the price reached 38000 $ but fell to $35000  in a short time. I wonder how the people who bought the $38,000 and did not put stop - loss must have been?

edit: KRAKEN and COINBASE are already fine, after the price has dropped a lot

Nothing new. This happens most of the time when there is an aggressive price spike or dump. I have seen it happen on Bitmex too when it was still popular. Everything freezes, and you can't place any order.

I think this occurrence will not stop in crypto. As long as there are sudden price changes in the market, somehow, these exchanges will take advantage of the situation, and gain as much as they can from their end. You can't really trust crypto exchanges even if they are in top and reputable ones. You do have to take care of your own assets and be responsible about it. These exchanges are mostly here for the gain that they can get from the market.

Trading in Kraken seems to be fine now. Also, I've managed to make a successful withdraw from Kraken, but with 20+ refreshes over two hours.

I'm still getting occasional errors on the Funding page and the mine site.

Because you are using a rigged centralised exchange. This is what they do. All centralised exchanges are rigged this way - stop using them & start using decentralised exchanges which don't have an on/off switch & don't sell your ID to the highest bidder or pass it on to any government organisation.

I believe this is one of the strategies of exchanges when taking advantage of the situation in what's happening in the market. This is observed usually when there is massive change in price in the market, whether bitcoin, eth or doge and other alts. So be alert and make sure to put your funds in a safe and secure place always.

It's already back online the maintenance was just a few hours if I'm not mistaken.

They limit the market probably because it already congested and they said that they experience some connectivity issues so they needed to limit them. Other exchanges like Binance also issue some limit when it comes to withdrawal, I'm guessing it is related to the sudden pump of the DOGE token in the market, and they have a campaign for new users that could be a reason why they suspended withdrawals.

it is stated that the system cannot create addresses fast enough for the new users that are coming in, but after a few hours, it is already back online again. But they might also be just limiting the transactions since  they are a exchange.

I guess that this was the reason behind today's dump. When people can't buy, the volume drops and the price usually falls.

I think you should take this calmly, don't need to be emotional because it won't solve the problem. Make this a lesson for the future, so that you d
o the limit buy or sell feature. Because almost all exchanges down when the market price suddenly changes drastically. Whether prices suddenly
fall or rise, hence the usual server exchanges overload and go down. Because the traffic is so heavy to make transactions. So it not only happened
to Kraken and Coinbase, I used local exchanges to experience the same thing when I was going to sell Dogecoin. Suddenly the exchange server went
down, I had to wait more than 3 hours to be able to access the exchanges again.

Its a normal routine for coinbase to go down in case of high volatility. I can see its only the manipulation to stop the people to buy or sell and control the market. Every now and then i get message from coinbase that it is down and then up. I don't keep extra funds on coinbase to be on safe side.

It's not good enough, surly the whole point of a market place is to be able to buy and sell when you need... I used to run clothing stalls on real physical vintage markets, it would be like a big crowd of buyers coming to my table to buy this new amazing coat and then the market manager comes and puts a dust cover over my stall and says closed for cleaning for 12 hours...

What ?there is no perfect services specially in Internet businesses mate because at some point there are some maintenance or issues may come along the way so Servers downing may happen in isolated cases .
Though i did not tried both opening but it is very rare that they are both down at the same time ?

and also this happens sometimes for our own benefits , because they wanted to secure and ensure us for other factor , and also have you checked their emails if they will be having maintenance ?
in my part i have not received one that moment .

Lets move to Binance exchange for your trading or investing because there always running well not care how billion traffic coming every day during have coin suddenly pump, looks when DOGE raise higher price above 0.08$ many trader opening Binance on the same time but website running well without any problem, you can trade without exchange site is close or maintance, maybe if you have any well running site exchange why do you still use other exchange for your trading?

Always in Coinbase when there's a sudden pump but I don't know with Kraken.

In my understanding, he's point is suggesting you to move in Binance and just use them. Because when there are sudden pumps, Binance seems to be reliable and don't experience this problem. Although before, they've gone with the same issue when the market was flooded with many traders but as CZ said, they've probably added more servers and upgraded it to avoid such issues.

Use binance because it is safer and the site is very fast and there is hardly any problem like the one you had in the kraken and coinbase. honestly if I had a coinbase account and had this problem I would be very angry and unhappy. because we are talking about a big pump that bitcoin have where the person could get a big profit and then sell and manage to have more bitcoin and the most stressful Is that these exchanges cannot cover losses caused by the problem they created for their customers

There have been discussions about this suspicious behavior by Coinbase. While the official reason seems to be "bad servers" which cannot handle the traffic when people start selling or buying actively, it does not seem to be all the story here. Indeed, it's a big company with tons of revenue, and the issue happened multiple times before, so surely they could fix it if they wanted to, right? Some speculated that Coinbase might be doing it on purpose because they don't want to risk losing a lot of money if people do panic selling. Others pointed out, however, that it doesn't make sense that Coinbase would actually profit from transaction fees if they didn't close the market. All in all, it's shady and weird.

I saw tons of reports came from groups, pages, and more than most of the exchange after a huge pump and drop makes maintenance or cannot accessible of course we can't do anything just to report an issue and wait for them to fix it up. That's the reason why it's better at the early stage you have now a stop loss or make a limit on your thread and not wait for the market trade this is the most efficient one doing by the other trader so they don't worry about the profit and loss because it's already settled.

I want to share that so far I'm using binance and I didn't experience unexpected errors and updates.

Thanks BINANCE fees were quote high but if that means you can actually trade and make money then all good.

All exchanges have low volumes until people use them. Big is not best in the crypto world.

Coinbase looks good exchange market and withdraw process fast but I never use Kraken until right now, maybe when getting new coin listing on Kraken I will try to use this exchange and check by my self how this exchange service good or not, maybe Kraken is bigger exchange and looks good for trading but when do you use kraken and coinbase down, last week I use coinbase for convert my bitcoin to xrp but running well without any problem,

Only coinbase ever I use but when received payment from airdrop project on Coinbase last few year, but now I not active use Coinbase because my trading exchange only Binance so far, last time I ever use coinbase to convert my btc assets left there and I used XLM coin for sending to y local exchange.
