Title: Why did this happen ?
Post by: Houdini76 on January 29, 2021, 02:45:41 PM
I put an order in for doge coin on Binance at a price of 0.00000169 but the order was filled at 0.0000151 . Why was this ?

There is a very big chance you used the Market Order type instead of the Limit Order type
With Market Order, your buying or selling price of Dogecoin was set at the Market price of doge coin at that particular time you placed an order.
For Limit order, you set the price with which you want to sell or buy your dogecoin and your order goes to the order book waiting to be filled. The order will only be filled once the market price of dogecoin reaches that particular price.

Did you check if you click the limit or the market order? Because it matters.

When you click the limit order you will set an specific amount as your market entry of buying/selling point.

If you click on Market order the actual market price is the buying/selling point.

It sounds weird tho. Why would you put an order of 169 sats when the current price is lower than that for a limit order type? Usually, you'd put a lower price for an entry. Are you sure it's not another order type, like leverage for example?

It is indeed market order. When you use limit order, your order will trigger and filled at which price you set on limit order.
Just what @logfiles said, there are a huge fluctuate especially when the market is on very huge volatility, market order may differ everytime. Even which market it is, the type of order is still the same, even spot or futures.

For OP, you may lock this thread to avoid spams if you already no concerns.

That's probably what happened and the answer to your question and sudden shock. When I was a newbie, I don't understand it either whenever I put buy order then I wasn't aware of the limit order so usually whichever is the market price for that coin, that's an automatic buy. And that's the same for selling orders too. I guess you have understood what had happened to you and the thread has already answered your question which should be locked by now.
