Title: [QUESTION] Simple & Convenient Payments?
Post by: give42 on February 01, 2021, 12:19:06 AM
So hypothetically if I have a widget to sell, it would be nicest to have a single page store on a website; so that whenever a purchase is made I get an email. Then I pack, label, and ship the widget. Easy peasy.

I'm not very familiar with the nitty gritty of ecommerce, but I suspect things like shopify exist to keep things this simple for the seller.

So my question is: "What are the options for selling widgets on a stand-alone website for crypto?"

I can't just post a crypto address, because I need some basic info on the customer. Maybe I could request an email that includes that information, alongside a private key with the cash? Or maybe there's a solution that already exists?

I think what you need are those services will serve as your crypto payment gateway like these companies.
https://bitpay.com/
https://www.coinpayments.net/
I have not that much knowledge about these gateways and I think there can be some additional inputs from other members who have a better understanding on this. And with shopify, they have suggested the two that I've mentioned including some others.

I would trust bitpay more than the other payment option

Since you mentioned "simple" in your subject field, I would suggest "Blockonomics (https://www.blockonomics.co/merchants) [non-custodial]" but if you want the best and you're willing to deal with having a complex setup process [more control], go with "BTCPay (https://btcpayserver.org/) [self-hosted]".

I would trust bitpay more than the other payment option
Most users [including me] wouldn't recommend their services ["here's why (https://debitpay.directory/anti-bitcoin/)", although it's a little bit outdated].

Follow this detailed GUIDE ----> [GUIDE] How to create an online store and accept Bitcoin by using open-source (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4985870)
It accurately explains all the steps you need to create a site to accept Bitcoin even if you do not have any experience writing any code.
If you have time, you can watch the entire list on YouTube and thus update the methods, but in general, allocating 6 hours with a little budget will enable you to create a site.
Other than that, you need to rely on third-party site/apps.

I think the issue with bitpay is their high fees. I would suggest to look for alternatives if you have a very low margin on the product. They are the leading service providers and very efficient and aesthetically pleasing for sure but all that comes at a cost.

I have a website that sells digital products, I used coinpayments for almost a year. It sometimes had glitches, did not let transactions go through for no reason. In December last year I installed, Coinbase Commerse. So far, it works just fine

Basically I will say you request for an email where you will notify customers on successful receipt of their funds and then instead of requesting a private key which is completely out of the line, it will be easier if you just supply a wallet address with a clear instructions on how the customer can settle the payment.
