Post by: Tod959 on February 04, 2021, 01:50:33 PM
Has anyone heard of the bitcoin investment trust, links to it can be found on Tor.

Has anyone invested with them and get the weekly returns?

Thanks,

If you're referring to Grayscale's Bitcoin Investment Trust(GBTC)[1], then no it doesn't have dividends.

If you're referring to something else, then you might want to provide us a link.

Bitcoin investment trusts (based on my understanding), are just used by companies like Grayscale to be a stock-like medium that is backed of course with the price of BTC. Like mk4 said, since it is backed by a decentralized digital asset, dividends is not given to the investors. Dividends are only given to the investors of a certain company that met a certain number of shares. If you are new to it and you aren't referring to Grayscale, you better be careful before investing.

bitcoin investment trust, links to it can be found on Tor.

A hidden investment trust, under ToR, where you send your coins,... then what?
Not your keys, not your coins. For me it sounds extremely shady. I would be wary to send my coins to a new/not yet known company even if they make public info about themselves. If they are hidden, there's a very high chance you'll ... make them a donation.

Its probably best to post up the links that you are referring to.

"Trust" may refer to different investment vehicles.

There are certain investment opportunities which pay daily, weekly, annually.
These are Crypto lending and borrowing companies though.

links to it can be found on Tor.

you mean it is an onion site?
it sounds very shady to be honest. the whole purpose of "investment trusts" is that you trust the well known company with your money and have a way of pursuing them in case they tried to pull a scam. an anonymous company on TOR is not something you can trust your money with.

edit: as i guessed, it is an obvious scam.

A Bitcoin investment trust which isn't that of the prominent Grayscale's will be highly questionable and might look like a scam if not a scam already. You should know that with Bitcoin current value, many scammers will continue looking for ways to defraud people and therefore you need to be extremely careful because all it takes is one mistake and everything is gone. Also, don't be deceived with whatever weekly returns they are offering as that is the prominent ways scammers use to attract people, promise them high returns since they know many people are greedy and won't fail to ignore mouthwatering rewards and at the long run, they end up being scammed. My own suggestion is for you to be careful, and if possible ignore it as it will not worth it.

the website clearly lacks functionality. the suggested investments are $500, $1000 and up. what if i want to get scammed out of $400 in btc, or $750?

Yea how do you even end up in such a website, especially a freakin ONION website. I don't think such websites can even be promoted in the clear web lol.

its true, because now there are many new platforms that provide investment services of any kind. but it will be even more reliable if we invest in the old platform that we are used to using.

Sorry to bump a dead thread but for anyone who comes across this thread: This is a scam.

I had $500 burning a whole in my pocket so I decided to try this out.

I sent BIT (Bitcoin Investment Trust) $500 worth of bitcoins on January 2. I ordered the $500 tier... and then my bitcoins disappeared.

They have a page for contacting them but it just for show. They say you will be able to contact them once you order something but thats not true.

https://i.imgur.com/EY6DZ45.png

And you're unable to withdraw your bitcoins as ordering something takes the bitcoins out of your wallet.

It is listed on thehidden wiki's scam list: https://thehidden.wiki/dark-web-scam-list/

tl;dr: its a scam

I am also not sure of what OP is referring to. There is a big possibility that it can just be another "scam" project out to get as much money from unsuspecting public because why would that be advertised in TOR in the first place. I am not actually judging but we know how riddled with frauds is our industry so we have to be careful in dealing with anything promising us the heavens and the stars all for doing nothing but just giving them the money we have...we can end up just holding empty plastic bags full of air.
