Title: Bounty hunters, report spam to receive higher bounties
Post by: friends1980 on February 07, 2021, 05:36:28 PM

I think the time is right to explain something that some bounty hunters do not always seem to understand or realize.

If you're participating in a bounty campaign, part of the bounty goes to signature campaigns. At the end of the bounty, the number of posts is counted, and every participant receives his part relative to his number of posts.

This means: the more shitposters and spammers have been accepted in this campaign, the smaller your part will be.

Let me make this clear this with a very easy example:

https://i.imgur.com/JjZJ4uv.jpg

As you can see, these sig spammers and shitposters run off with a part of the bounty. Sig spamming is theft. They run off with the part that other bounty hunters deserve to have for respecting the bounty rules and for having written nice and interesting posts.

So what should you do to avoid having your part of the bounty stolen by sig spammers?

Report every shitposter in your campaign:

1. send a PM to the campaign manager
2. post a warning in the campaign thread
3. report every shitpost, using the report button, which is this:

Have fun and fill your bags, bounty hunters!

You think shit posting have a room on this forum? I'm sure moderators will remove such posts and if they get too constant moderators will ban such accounts, also it's bounty managers job to reward stakes to those shit posters or not, since they are the ones in charge of paying bounty hunters for their work

Moderators need our help to identify posts that go against the rules, and they encourage it:

Code:
Do not worry about your accuracy too much; one accurate report is worth many inaccurate reports.

That's why friends1980 is encouraging us to report spammers too, because moderators don't have one thousand eyes.

About the bounty managers part, there are laudable exceptions in this forum, but I can tell you that many others focus in their part of the money and they don't care whether hunters spam or not because it doesn't hurt their "share".

One thing that would assure that you would get paid for this is to directly contact the campaign manager. Not all campaigns do really mind the quality of their participant's post especially those that is being held also by non-reputable campaign managers. Hence, contacting the CM of the campaign first would give you a chance to silently busting those spam posters without disclosing to the public whom aren't being paid for their signature campaign spamming and shitposting. Kinda rough indeed, but it is also a good action as many spammers would keep making dummy accounts and even leaves you negative reputation across the forum.

Edit: what i mean in this is that there are also campaign that offers payment to those reporters.

What if the manager is a spammer? If you visit the Bounty section, you will notice many managers there who are immature. I don't know how they convinced projects, but they even don't know what is a shitpost. It's quite surprising to me projects choosing the worst bounty managers who aren't aware of their responsibility. We reputed managers not getting many works nowadays. So I don't think your idea is going to works. Participants from reputed campaign managers don't necessarily report much. Because they are monitoring themselves or by his team. On the other hand, reporting to the worst managers will make the situation more worst.

LoL man. I also think how the project owners choose theme as bounty manager. (I am not saying all are not good).
So I think most of these cases bounty manager is involved in the team of the project what he managing, or they me know each other in real life. It’s very possible because nowadays all almost all the project without a proper team even a intake whitepaper. :)

I think 90% are indeed spammers and children. Many of those bounty campaigns look like kindergartens.

In that case, you shouldn't participate, but there's already enough posts and warnings about that. ;)

I myself would be happy to know that as a bounty hunter, I would not only clean up the forum by reporting, but would also be rewarded by getting a bigger share of the bounty.

And one issue of the bounty managers nowadays is that they didn't have the time in checking the posts whether if they're quality or spam. Maybe because the bounty manager doesn't have assistants to help him in managing the posts or entries. Like in my case, I made a high-quality video that I've spent hours on the editing and with great effort (and with decent views). However, I only got 1 stake. And there's this guy, whose number of views are quite almost the same as mine, and with an ugly video. But the bounty manager gave him 5 stakes, which is kinda unfair. In other words, there's some favoritism going on as well aside from ignoring spam and low quality output from the participants.

People very rarely get banned for shitposting. Your reports are only likely to result in the posts getting deleted. If campaign pays per post, you will just slightly increase the payout for yourself, and only if the manager will decide to split all of the signature campaign budget, instead of just returning any leftover funds to the devs.

If you will be mass reporting posts, this would overload the mods and they might even start ignoring your reports. I doubt that getting a few more dollars worth of bounty is worth it.

Problem here is that majority of altcoin bounty hunters are shitposters themselves and since they don't even bother about quality of their own posts somehow I doubt that they will bother to report other shitposters. It is also questionable whether they can recognize a shitpost when they see it and even if few posts get deleted, bounty hunter will just churn out few more.

I do agree that people should report shitposts more often, but I am not so sure that people you mention care enough in order to do that.

It's quite surprising to me projects choosing the worst bounty managers who aren't aware of their responsibility. We reputed managers not getting many works nowadays.
They don't really know much about the forum and they are just looking for the cheapest option and that included manager who will accept their useless altcoins that one day might have some value and that's something that no reputable manager will accept (I guess).

The only problem in altcoin section is the bounty managers doesn't have standards since many company select those cheap bounty managers(Not all but almost) and they didn't do their the job nicely. If the merit system will be strictly implement by Bounty managers upon selecting their participants on altcoin bounty section for sure the spamming will decrease.

I also see some projects before who give incentives to the spam reporters but now I don't see any exist since as of now they doesn't care about that, most of the project owners want their participants to spam so that their banners will spread every where.

I think it would be a very bad idea to encourage spam reporters. If spammers themselves find out about the payment, then the moderators will need to forget about sleep. You will receive as many reports as you have never received before. This also applies to the merit system. People will complain about everything.
So leave the reporting on a voluntary basis. If someone is in a hurry to get their shitcoins, writes without reading previous posts, this will only be his problem.
Others, on the other hand, want to see useful information on the forum and to get through the heaps of spam, they have to report to the moderators.
People are different. Everyone has different goals. Someone came to get a penny. And someone, reading and gaining knowledge, gains valuable experience that is irreplaceable in time.

Lol, do you know it has never occurred to me that the bounty section is counted in coarse of signature campaign post counts!
I am so surprised how it never occurred to me, my complete hate for the bounty ever since i tasted it in my early days of joining the forum and knew how much time i let slide in the later future made it an arid land which i don't visit so much.

But then, its important that bounty hunters know these facts that spamming of there thread is possible and a report to manager is all they need as some of this thread are privately moderated coupled and when these posts are deleted and the quota isn't reached by a sig participant, the money goes right back to either the company, manager or the bounty. With the fact that, the bounty hunters can do themselves a thing of good by exposing alts within the campaign because, a reduction in alts means, the more fund that would go for each stakes.

This is task of bounty manager, if they allow spammy hunters in their campaign, the campaign is likely to be trash anyway, and you are better off  it.

I do report spam posts if I come across them but I won't be going out of my way to do so.

When I'm looking in the bounty section to see projects that I want to promote or participate I'm looking more on who is managing the campaign, my work on checking the project is cut off because I have a trusted bounty manager to rely on, and it always turns out to be a successful project and the campaign was high standard, reputable campaign manager always take note on every participant's progress, he always sees to it that all participants have their fair share.

All suggestions have pros and cons. Like the first point, even if we report it to the campaign manager, there is a chance that he will not mind it or let's just say he did but we all knew that some manager are only after the salary for handling it. We'll we can see thoe managers that really do their work perfectly.

Also this only applies I guess to altcoin bounties cause I rarely see campaign on bitcoin signature that not doing their job well.

Reporting spam is okay, but focusing on the sig participants and click moderator everytime is hunting already. A natural spam reported is nice once spotted not entirely focus on destroying every sig wearer that do shitposting cause some of them might not spammer.

I agree with this one. I will stick with reporting the post to the moderator and we might not know that the one we reported is not a spammer. Reporting participants because of abusing the bounty is also another situation thta the campaign manager won't have time to catch and that's the time other participants report those who are truly proved.

Since BTC signature campaign managers had to lower the standards in order to fill the signature campaign, imagine what would happen if bounty managers have any standards when they choose the participants. They might as well stop them.

There are simply way too many campaigns on this forum to be filled with quality members, and demand exceeds the supply which brings bar lower and lower. I remember the situation just one year ago, when it was much harder to join the campaign and you had to be a very good poster in order to get into one, and now almost every spammer that managed to get few merits found his place in a signature campaign.

They are circulating here in our platform but it is not guaranteed that they are seeing all of the stuffs here.

As soon as you saw those kind of stuffs that doesn't belong in a certain thread or discussion, just report it to our moderator.

That simple help means a lot to our moderator, let's be honest that there are a lot of newbies here who are unaware about making consecutive nonsense posts.

Not only newbie, you will also notice there are so many high ranking member who are also spam poster and they are constantly posting spam to spread awareness about the campaign he is promoting. I don't know why the bounty manager continues to hire them even though the participant's post are evaluated on an almost weekly basis. Standardization may be required and applied to bounty campaign as a requirement and I think it will reduce the number of spam poster gaining a place in the campaign.

I think the best advice deserves a bounty manager's consideration, but I'm not sure they'll implement it in existing campaign. Spam behavior may not be tolerated on forum and reporting it to moderator is one small effort with big impact. This will improve the cleanliness of the forum from spam, low quality post and junk post.

They do not realize about this how spam happens so that the top members know how to avoid the spam posts they make in the bounty thread.
The bounty manager only hires them in promotions, what most of them want is a report every week, so I have the conclusion that most people come here not only to seek knowledge but want the money they make from the bounty.
See newbie who just registered in this forum can join in the bounty campaign means this is not moderated.
The manager should limit things like this.

We don't tolerate spammers or shit posters here, and being a moderator is not easy as they are busy almost 24/7 checking forums.
I believed that there's a reputable member here who did this already, actmyname has created a thread that contains a list of spammers (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4440941.0) in the forum.  A large number that deleted by the MODs and also reported by the concerned members here in the forum are all spammers and to combat those spammers to slowly eliminate, once your profile has been marked as a spammer, bounty manager, or signature campaign manager should not accept them and tolerate those spammers.  We determine that they are spammer because of the number of deleted posts by MODs.

We must encourage others to report those spammers and don't tolerate them staying here, it seems like they are toxic to the community.  Most commonly, those bounty hunters that posting their social media without contributing to the forum.

Just wondering how long it is going to take a bounty manager to sit and review bitcointalk post. if only you know the amount of tasks been done trying to review bounty tasks. it is a tedious task if you will ask me. from reviewing twitter post, facebook post, reddit post, video post and then down to forum post. i must say that the admin who ever does that deserve payment in bitcoin or usdt for conducting such work.

The duty of keeping a campaign spam free begins with the bounty manager, thus if the BM hires just any user, notwithstanding if the user is a good or shit poster, then there's no way the campaign can be spam free and you'd not expect the participants of the campaign to do the job of searching for shitposts, and having said that, even if they will or want to, then it shouldn't be cause they want a higher payment, but cause they want to somewhat keep the forum free of spam.

It's pretty easy to be constructive to say the least, and users who are more often than not unconstructive are only prolly posting cause they got into one campaign or the other and come what may want to meet up with their weekly requirements even with the most minimal of efforts, so it's the BM's job to stop that by not hiring such users.

I've noticed some posts about bounty hunters complaining to the bounty managers about spammers and shitposters getting paid in the campaign in spite of their spam posts.

I'd recommend you all to continue to confront those managers with their responsibility for their spammers and demand your honest part of the bounty.

Great news.

If the bounty manager is good at checking participants posts they will likely take them out of the campaign, before participants join a campaign there is a rule about spamming, no bounty manager will allow shitposters in their campaign, they want participants who can add value to the forum and the campaign they manage as well.

Spammers are likely not going to end. Every time we report them, many more spams will occur again, like never-ending spam. Although there have been many threads that discussing spam, the ways not to spam, the ways to make a better poster, and other information, do they read?
I don't think so that they will read the important information.
The button of "Report to Moderator" may be one of the ways, but, how much we can do every day? Sometimes, we become bored of reporting those never-ending spams.
But, so salute to all moderators that execute these problems.

Bounty campaigns were really good back then up until it wasn't anymore. You have the rights to report anyone you see as a shitposter considering the fact that they will take part on the profit you will be getting. It is clearly unfair that some people are not taking things on the forum seriously while you are out here making efforts to learn more and stay relevant on the stuffs you are posting yet they will get the same amount you will be receiving. Even though it is not really our responsibility and the forum will do their jobs upon cleansing the forum from shitposters, we can still make our own actions with regards to the problem.
