Title: Binance under DDOS?
Post by: btcb3g1nn3r on February 08, 2021, 01:15:43 PM
Today I was navigating through menus while the page didn't load then I was kicked out from one tab.
I tried on different tabs, same, then I rebooted and I got this "504 Gateway Time-out".
I've restarted my router to get new IP, same results.
Access from mobile, same results.

Did this happen before? I'm a bit paranoid but I don't think I was hacked or blacklisted, I've just installed Telegram on my laptop...

Considering the recent news (Tesla adquiring 1.5$ billion dollars in BTC) people are for sure running to numerous exchanges in order to try to buy BTC at a lower price since it's expected the price to increase. In this like these I'm sure that Binance won't be the only exchange being affected by this rush.

You can check in numerous websites to see if a specific website is down or not, here's one : https://downdetector.co.uk/status/binance/

So yeah, my advice for you is to look to other exchanges (if possible), such as Coinbase, Kraken, Bitvavo and try your luck there. But do expect some "hipccups" in the service, at least today.

It can be from their overload condition when the exchange has more activities from users. Bitcoin was boosted to $44000 by Elon Musk and it attract many traders to log in, open trades on Binance.

I got that issue one hour ago too. Do you connect to Binance normally again?

They tweeted this on their official handle about 30 minutes ago:

We are aware of some temporary difficulties accessing <snip>

Rest assured our team is working on it.

Thank you for your patience and apologies for any inconvenience caused.

It's most likely just a downtime due to the spike in network activity all over the cryptocurrency space.

Works perfectly fine without a hitch for me...

For me, it also loads very quickly (both international and US version), in about 3-5 seconds without any of the problems the OP talks about. Consequently, we can conclude that not all users are affected in the same way - which means that the problem is in some other things, not only in the Binance servers.

Either way, there are a lot of angry comments on their twitter, but that’s always the case when something big happens, and access to the service is completely disabled or restricted.

Update:
Withdrawals from binance were suspended for a few minutes, but has now resumed according to their latest tweet (https://twitter.com/binance/status/1358797225946714113?s=19).
All withdrawals from https://t.co/QILSkzx7ac have been temporarily suspended, it is estimated that this will last for 30 minutes.

Rest assured all funds are safe and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

We will update you shortly when they have been re-opened.

This could mean they have fixed all the issues, as the site is now going fine for most, including me.
It is also yet another reason not to store your funds on a centralized wallet as you can be locked out of them at anytime.

no it's not under DDOS attack, its because of sudden surges of users when the price of bitcoin reaches other all-time high people are more aware of what might going to happen, and the websites, suddenly can't handle loads of users going in, this kind of thing sometimes happens, I have also experienced it but after refreshing the page it all back up again, it may be also something to do with bandwidth allocated for binance website.

And it could also be because users who continue to visit Binance because today is the distribution for those who took part in the SafePal (SFP) airdrop for those who joined airdrop rounds 1 and 2 getting a fair price so it's not just because of the bitcoin pump and doge, maybe because of that.
I see that from various social media channels they always discuss binance, SFP, DOGE and BTC.
But now it's back to normal and this is a big market so it won't be long in suspension and definitely not a DDOS attack.

This is also my speculation, There are many events that is happening today such as distribution of SFP and recent ATH of bitcoin, I am expecting pretty much that Binance will crash or will become unstable as what I experience for the past few months after something big is happening. I don't even think about DDOS attack at that time.

Binance CZ also indicated that the system volume they got is pretty much more than the last ATH.

It's not DDOS, I think CZ is honest enough to say and admit that they've been attacked if it happened.

But it's just the same as the usual whenever the market is on ATH. There's volume and traffic can't take by their server. I thought that they've upgraded it already to avoid situations like this as he foretold before.
