Title: Anybody remembers tesla was selling model S with BTC at 2014
Post by: teramit on February 10, 2021, 09:08:28 PM
Rather than Perperidge farm i remember teslamotor selling at least accepting btc deposit for model s. But seems like novadays people think tesla may accept btc on web site is a big move for btc history.
Between 2013 and 2015 they did this but then removed btc option.

Now I'm more curious as to the reason they removed it... Maybe it was the 2013 crash, maybe they're hoping to cash out of this one before a crash (even if they start accepting it at a bad time - or maybe they're timing the crash to start accumulating..

I just saw an article about that purchase on coindesk.
Bitcoin Pizza, Meet Bitcoin Tesla: Someone Bought a Model S in 2013 for 91.4 BTC (https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-pizza-someone-bought-tesla-model-s-2013-91-4-btc)

infact google doesnt give much result because of new news about this subject, old news are also not mentioning that official site was accepting bitcoin, that article is about a dealer not tesla website itself. i remember on order page it gives you an option for paying with bitcoin. But it did not stayed for long. Must be someone else have seen this. ???

So back in 2013 this was not Tesla directly accepting Bitcoin but just one car dealership doing that using BitPay payment processor.
Just imagine if that dealership kept all or some part of 91.4 Bitcoin, oh it would be even better story to tell :)

I feel like tesla accepting it will have a much much bigger impact on bitcoin price then the people who accepted for selling their tesla for bitcoin. Obviously we all know that it wasn't tesla that accepted bitcoin, it was just dealerships that accepted it, if you wanted to you could take bitcoin or even if you want to take monopoly money too if you want, that is not really widely important, but tesla accepting bitcoin is a huge news and should be seen as a bigger deal than made in the media.

If Tesla starts accepting bitcoin as payment, and people are willing to pay for it, tesla will probably not sell it that quickly, they will probably keep it as cash reserves and use the fiat for expenses, that is going to change a lot in the crypto world, it would allow them to gather so much of the old coins and hold it which will in return increase the price.
