This is welcoming news indeed, MasterCard and Visa are two of the biggest payment processor in the world. If they are going to support crypto in the future, we might get another exposure, similar to Paypal's millions of user around the globe. Although several months ago, it was reported that they are partnering with other companies with their "Crypto Card Partner Program", perhaps they just decided to do it by themselves to accelerate it. Another win-win situation for us.

IMO, I believe this is another achievement of our beloved industry to be recognized by one of the worlds largest financial service innovators like Mastercard At last they have already seen the vast potential of this technology-based financial services innovation I believe cryptocurrency was still in its infancy and a lot of room to improve thats why I believe more achievements will be unlocked in the years to come just keep believing.

Yes it will be huge, bulls are not over yet.
Giving merchants the ability to transact entirely in cryptocurrency (not confirmed yet) is an enormous step toward mass-adoption.

Sign of the bull season. At least now we can expect it to last longer than expected. But with new innovations and adoptions, the Bull season would last longer

Yes bro, 2021 already gathering momentum for the upcoming record breaking bull run in the history of crypto, all the good news keeps rolling in and making the space more bullish, who would have thought - first PayPal, Elon Tesla and now MasterCard, such major playres in the economy are coming into crypto, next we should be seeing apple and google coming in too  8) (hopefully) Good things ahead for crypto community no doubt.

Back in 2017, it was ordinary investors who were afraid of FOMO (fear of missing out). Now it is the corporations that are afraid of it. After PayPal integrated Bitcoin to its platform, the other payment processors are rushing to do the same and MasterCard won't be the last one. No one wants to be left behind, especially when it comes to modern technology and innovations. It's a highly competitive world, and in order to stay relevant the corporations need to consider new innovations.

Yes, I saw this news and I see that this time, compared to 2017, the process of integrating cryptocurrencies into ordinary life is very smooth and very successful, I do not see any prohibitions today or we do not hear them. But this time things are going better. Let's see how long the market will last on positive news.

Here's a more reliable source https://www.coindesk.com/mastercard-accepts-crypto-payments

That is not the case for Mastercard. They have long been interested in integrating cryptocurrency.
Quote
Previously, Mastercard supported limited cryptocurrency transactions through its cryptocard partners Wirex and Uphold. But those programs only cover payment, not settlement; the coins are converted to fiat currency well before reaching the merchant.
Quote
Mastercard first filed a patent for handling bitcoin payments in 2013 but abandoned that effort in 2015. It began hiring a team of wallet developers and crypto veterans in 2019. The company now hosts a platform through which central banks can test digital currencies.

It looks like they will have their own wallet this time to allow their users accept payment in cryptocurrencies direct to their account. It will be interesting if they can convince all central banks to test this. They target to launch the new feature this year but some regulations could cause a delay. Let's see.

So, Bitcoin is for sure,,, I wonder which else? Litecoin? Ethereum? Do we dare believe even privacy coins could be there somehow? I bet you Mastercard goes defi;)

I do not think Mastercard will go defi. First PayPal and visa now MasterCard every one is accepting bitcoin. Mass adoption just started and bigger influencer people are coming to crypto one by one. Now we may saw their own cryptocurrencies in a very short time and this integration of crypto assets will surely make a positive reaction to the whole market.

Mastercard crypto support on its network is a good news. For a time it has fiat crypto payment through its network and later halted it. This will push more giant corporations to fall in as well. We expect more adoption to take place

I just read about it in the morning. This is such a great news for the crypto community. This means that users can now pay with crypto currencies almost every shop online where mastercard is accepted!
I know the merchants won't be directly accepting bitcoin and they will be receiving converted fiat currency (mastercard receives the bitcoin, converts it to fiat and pays the merchant) but it is still something for people who uses bitcoin. At least they can now spend their coins easily online. I am sure more payment processors and financial institution are going to follow mastercards footstep.

Yes, it was recently announced. Not an old article :).

One by one the big players come and take them some BTC. Soon it will be so hard to accumulate any BTC and they will turn to alts. Some already have, like Grayscale has, but it won’t take long or ETH and other will really explode. Now it was Tesla, MasterCard, but imagine Apple makes it available. Boom!!

Mastercard decided on such actions due to the fact that VISA took the issue of working with cryptocurrencies very seriously. This is competition in the market. The crypto space has the hope of completely replacing fiat.

I hope that they won't be the same as PayPal that doesn't allow its users to withdraw their crypto or send it to another PayPal user. In that means, PayPal is likely just giving its users fake bitcoins/cryptos that they offer because it's non-transferrable which obviously isn't the description of crypto.

We're free to transfer it from wallet to wallet but PayPal doesn't allow it so that's basically what we can think of their offer. And in this news, MasterCard is really common for its services to the bankers and I hope that it will push it to the banks that are attached to them and will also follow the adoption.

This may also become good fundamental news for crypto.
however, it will also depend on what kind of utility and involvement of crypto itself. Sometimes, it is only big on news but less in the application. Like what happened in the Paypal. The news is very big and booming at that time. But in fact, the utility and usage of crypto itself are now still debatable moreover we cannot withdraw our assets from PayPal.
So, as long as it is good for the crypto world, I think it will work and influence more easily.

Agreed, the competition between VISA and Mastercard is very strict. I think that there will be more companies will be adding crypto on their service too.

I have also read the news earlier. They are willing to provide opportunity to pay and use Digital currencies with more than 30M merchants. Elon Musk here has put a positive impact indirectly on this decision of Mastercard. Paypal and Tesla has played here a big role as a pioneer. I hope in the near future, more and more organizations will accept cryptocurrencies.

That's what I mean when I say an adoption by a famous corporation could also trigger adoption from various business sectors. Visa and Mastercard already in to the game and it's just matter of time until other company follow the adoption whether it's just the system (blockchain) or the cryptocurrency and when there's enough company adopt cryptocurrencies the market foundation will be so strong the manipulation will rarely happens.

It's been a really great year for cryptocurrency, I read the good news that more and more companies and wealthy people are supporting Bitcoin
this year. Now it's MasterCard's turn to announce that it will support crypto in 2021, this will make prices even more bullish. Moreover, MasterCard
has nearly one billion users and 30 million merchants, this will have a huge impact if this happens.

And I hope this news will make Paypal change policy now, to become full service. I am increasingly convinced not to sell the Bitcoin that I have
today. Even though the price of Bitcoin is now very high, because I believe that the news related to MasterCard will support crypto which can
make the Bitcoin price go up even higher.

Things are getting brighter and brighter for cryptocurrency since the pandemic, companies are now engaging in crypto, unlike in 2017 that they are constantly ignoring it since Elon musks make a big move to buy bitcoin, others realize that no one can stop it, now visa and others are scrambling to hop into bitcoin and cryptocurrency, are we looking at possible global bitcoin usage legally, looks like satoshi dream has come to reality now, hope government make a bad move against it.

It basically opens up cryptocurrencies to many possibilities such as buying things on retail convenience store that usually don't accept cryptocurrencies but have edc machine everywhere, maybe there's those bitcoin debit card or something like that but it's always such a fresh breath in the air to have the official issuer of the card itself accepting cryptocurrencies, maybe it can eliminate middlemen fee who knows  ;D

Others got mislead here thinking it's about another company supporting bitcoin in general. Not because Mastercard announced the support on crypto, it means BITCOIN will be considered.

Mastercard says that it's only going to support cryptocurrencies that meet a number of requirements such including stability, privacy, and compliance with money laundering laws. link (https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2021/02/mastercard-will-support-cryptocurrencies-but-not-the-ones-you-think/)

Bitcoin doesn't fit that criteria or I don't even know what crypto do have a characterictics like that. More on, this company just go with the flow. I don't see this a big news. As what they say, "it’s hard to be both decentralized and regulated".

I just know this right now or are you taking the fake news from the crappy site? It's bitpay that will help crypto to be integrated with apple pay. Apple pay never announces if this platform will be supporting crypto as a part of its service. You should DYOR before try to say anything about that dude.
That can mislead people to overhype. This is just a reminder for you to check the news from reliable sites. I never heard paypal was doing it before. CMIIW

Yeah I heard that too about the rumour of Apple's owned crypto exchange but that's just a rumour, I guess it's just chain reaction of larger company such as tesla and visa adopting bitcoin. Not to mention about Elon making some tweet regarding cryptocurrencies but honestly I really doubtful about apple trying to adopt a decentralized system that opposes to Apple ecosystem that have closed characteristic but we will definitely see whats gonna happen.
