The last one to sell went for ~7BTC when bitcoin was sub 10k.  Asking half a million dollars for this is INSANE. ::)

My guess is they are not located in the US. Most of the world other than the US seems to follow DD/MM/YYYY date format.

Notice how they also mentioned Jan 3rd 2009 as "03/01/2009" in the thread title.

Date jonny1000 wrote seems to match the date of their post going by this observation.

I tried to purchase from jonny1000 six years ago when the price was $250-300 USD. His price was 10 btc then as well. However, I think the collectible market does not have as many buyers so the price should be adjusted. Hi resolution pictures would be nice btw.How about an Auction?

I agree with the others hi-res images would have to be supplied but I guess they can
follow and the one above is to generate interest.

This copy of the newspaper has value only for those who know the history of Bitcoin, others will use the same newspaper without any hesitation to wrap fish in it or to light a fire for a barbecue. I also believe that this is not the only copy, and that there are still a lot of them in various attics and pantries - the only problem is how to get them.

Nonetheless, the price is definitely not something for ordinary mortals - there aren’t a lot of people who can afford 10 BTC - but if I were in an OP position I would contact people like Michael Saylor, or some of the big crypto companies that would definitely want to have something like this on to their wall.

Interesting item, but I wonder in what condition paper is and how is he keeping it because it can degrade a lot if not kept properly.

That's an interesting question you could ask the publisher, the owner, or the editor of the newspaper. Do their lasers, printing plates or printing presses leave any signs that could be used as fingerprints (either intentionally or innately due to the type of gear used)? Is if it difficult to source the exact type of paper that has been used?

Very true.  If given enough financial incentive (and this piece does) anything can and will be counterfeited.  The only question is how good would it be?  OP good luck with your sale but I think the days of asking 10 bitcoin for this piece is over.  Either way I'd love to see you sell it for that :)

My guess is not very difficult. My understanding is newspapers are printed locally, and one printing location will print multiple newspapers, such as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the local newspaper.

A quick google search found (https://www.uline.com/BL_1953/Newsprint-Sheets) newspaper paper available to the public, and I would not be surprised if a printer could be cheaply procured that is capable of printing a realistic copy of a particular edition provided you have the content that needs to be printed.

What a relic. 10 BTC might sound ridiculous, but that piece of paper is priceless. For someone, it is not worth $100, while someone is ready to give millions for it. Reminds me of the case with the overly attached girlfriend (https://foundation.app/laina/overly-attached-girlfriend-17046) meme.

Yeah this one of those items that are tough to price.  It goes up and down with interest.  And the biggest xfactor is mintage in circulation.  No one can put their finger on a good number of how many are truly out there.  Good luck op I hope you get your price

Yes, I have sold. Now I am experimenting with this NFT route, where I custody a copy and deliver on redemption.

So the price is 600 ETH for the NFT and comes with a free original ‘satoshi’ Times newspaper ?

Being that anyone can download an image of the newspaper, what would stop someone from selling an identical image as a NFT, and how would it be different than what you are selling?

My NFT is redeamable for the actual paper. That is the difference. Only one copy is for sale

Unless I am reading the block explorer incorrectly, there are 4 NFTs available.

Ignoring the above, any purchaser would need to trust that you will actually honor any redemption of the NFT. I am not sure this is a foregone conclusion for any counterparty and trust would be required.
