How do you select promising coins?
I was selecting the promising coin based on on the fundamental analysis, it should be from the strategic partnership, future roadmap, the result of product, hype from the community and many more.

How many coins should be in an investment portfolio?
This can't be determined coz that depends on how much coins that makes me feel interested.
How do I buy, all at once or in part over the course of a month?
If you are wanna decreasing the risk for your investment and you should buy that on the various rate.

How to deversify risks and rebalance ?
Never put your all of your money in the same basket. That will be putting yourself into the big risk. Try to divide it into the various kind of assets.

I've prepared for this altcoin season for a long time now and lately I only add very few altcoins to my portfolio, all I can say is this altcoin season might not favour every single projects in crypto space like in early 2018, it's better to go for very good projects with blockchain expert teams and strong partnerships

Each altcoin is promising. The only truth about it knows only devs. In my opinion, building portfolio simply by selecting promising projects isnt enough. Like people say, everything must be balanced. Not only you should divide funds into several altcoins and not invest everything into one, but you must also trade them. At least try or know basics. Simply buying and holding wont really work. It works only with Bitcoin.

Why do you think passive investing is not suitable? it's less risky I think. ???

Some people have been holding their ETH until now and I can say I am one of them. Holding such kind of Altcoins won't make you a solid investor if it's only for short investment because it needs lots of time to further increase its price. For minimum holding it up to 1 year or more will guarantee you a profit, just wait for the price to decrease when you want to buy. The other altcoins in your list are fine as well as long they are continuing their development and updating their holders with what they are doing. Just don't get it wrong but you are missing some promising Altcoins in your list.

Starting with 5 coins for your portfolio is a good idea. I am strong believer in diversification. So for my portfolio I have around 60% in bitcoins and the rest is spread out across multiple alt coins. In the beginning I had some money to invest so I bought all the coins at once. In my opinion it's best to just hold for a longer period of time if you don't have the time to constantly be up to date.

Capital flow in the market has to been changed from one to another and repeats over time. Diversification in a bull market can help you to enjoy as much parties as possible and increase the total times of your capital investment - take profit - reinvestment. It is applicable in bull market but in bear market it does not work.

If you don't diversify your portfolio in bull market, you will lose your patience if the coin you are holding does not increase after few weeks, few months. You shake them out and believe me, not too late after that it will rise too much.

first do your research and fully learn about the project you are going to invest in. second, you don't have to have a lot of coins in your portfolio. 4-5 different coins is enough, and any more than that it would be difficult to make decisions and observe them. third, to minimize the risk, the point is to buy when it is cheap and sell when the price goes up. Also pay attention to the trading volume of the coins, I have never bought coins with a trading volume of less than 1 million, because low volume will be very difficult to grow and easy to manipulate.

In this bull run you can easily make some profit by investing any altcoins which did not pump yet. But this policy sometime would be more risky. For why we should only invest always in potential coins in bullish or bearish market. :)

Your portfolio is enough good imo. Hope this will return you a good profit. Btw if you ask me about my portfolio then I will say,

Eth
Ltc
Dash
XRP some bad news around xrp recently

All are old coins. Hope these all will be big soon.

We can sleep during bullrun if our coins are listed in the Binance exchange. Bao finance is already 10k up, which is an unbelievable pump. I would suggest you check Ferrum network ERC-20 tokens. Single coins must not be out of portfolio and out of top altcoins must be included because of high profit and experience. My portfolio is not big, but I won't sell my holding altcoins, including EOS, Vechain and Ferrum network.

There is no altcoin season. :) Everything was push up because of the current bitcoin dominance.

But about your topic, how to build a portfolio doesn't end up on a fixed set of coins. As long as you think you can profit on that specific coin, that was a good addition to your portfolio.

Aside from BTC, I prefer BTC, ADA, IOST, and some of the low market cap coins.

How do you select promising coins?
I definitely choose altcoin that are in the top 100 on coinmarketcap, because the price will definitely increase and the risk is less than altcoin that are under the top 100 on coinmarketcap.

How many coins should be in an investment portfolio?
I personally only invest in one altcoin, because the important thing is that you believe if the price of altcoin that you invest has a big opportunity for the price to increase very high.

How do I buy, all at once or in part over the course of a month?
If you do have money that you are ready to invest, then you better buy it all at once, but if I personally always buy every month for 20% of my income.

How to deversify risks and rebalance ?

 ::) My TOP-5 Altcoins:

1. Uniswap
2. Bao Finance
3. Chainlink
4. Ethereum
5. Aave

You must have a target before investing, so if the price has reached your target, then you better sell it immediately without hesitation.

and my top 5 altcoins are :
1. Ethereum
2. Polkadot
3. Binance
4. Aave
5. Monero

but i only invest in Ethereum and my target for Ethereum price is $ 2500.

^ Definitely right and I would do the same as what you have said. Probably that is safe to invest but I don't know those pump and dump altcoin such as dogecoin. I have also shitcoins in my portfolio and even them, the price was increased and I think this is the season of altcoins. We witnessed different price increases in most altcoins in the coin market cap. Nevertheless, we need to be careful of the hype, sometimes it will lead us to a sudden loss, do your own research is the best answer, and also, let us be careful most of what they suggested.

Im not a good trader at all, but my strategy is have distributed investment between altcoins.
Then if some coins have profit, i will take that profit and distribute it to buy back another coins which going dip.

So you would sell your winners and buy losers? It is always a good idea to take profit. If a coin goes x2, I always sell around 50-60%; then I have my investment back and I have a little bit of profit. The rest I just hold and hope they keep going up.
Don't just buy a coin because it dips, do your research first and if you think the price is right, you can place a buy order.

In this bull run you can easily make some profit by investing any altcoins which did not pump yet. But this policy sometime would be more risky. For why we should only invest always in potential coins in bullish or bearish market. :)

I can agree with 3/4 coins but would dump XRP because of the lawsuits. Risk is too high for me to keep XRP.

There is no such thing as a promising altcoin to me. Each person creates his own luck. He should follow the projects very well and examine the project team very well. Apart from this, its investors, sponsor agreements and stock market agreements are very important factors. And finally, everything is all about luck.
That’s our part to always search about the potential project and of course do some research before investing. If you do not want to spend time on doing this, then you’ll not succeed for sure.

I don’t agree on everything is about luck because this is not a full gambling and we do create strategies to achieve a huge probability to become profitable and if you do want to have a successful portfolio, then DYOR.

Pick the ones that make you more money, it's the reason why you invest in a project. Or you could just stick to very few altcoins primarily ETH, ADA, and DOT which are top-ranked altcoins. If you keep a lot of them you might not get the chance to sell when the time comes to sell. Altcoins are going ATH and if you get the chance to sell them at the right time the better it is for you than not making a profit.

It is less risky only when the price grows. But what about when the market changes its trend from bull to bear? Like I said, passive investing is  suitable only for Bitcoin. Buy it and forget about it for few months.

With altcoins it is different. We all have noticed that most of the time they copy price changes of Bitcoin, and from time to time show their own growth. It might turn out, that when you have invested in an altcoin $1000 and waited for few months, its value might now have changed. But, if you trade it when its price suddenly goes up, and be lucky to buy back when the price is low, your profit would be much greater. That is why I have said that trading should be done parallel passive investing. Or at least know basics of market trading to be able to catch "sell high buy low" moment.

You have listed 5 tokens who are no longer promising tokens but prominent already. Altcoins portfolios are one that you need great investment consistency to set up especially if you are looking promising tokens. For me, i will take 1inch, Bifi, and kusama tokens. You should always research and dig up gems, research the token; study the price movement before making your move.

Thank you for your recommendation. But we need more coins for stray profits :) I think that in the top 500 is already quite possible to look.

My portfolio consists of both small coins and large coins 1) BNB 2) TRX 3) ETH 4) Doge. And I managed to get a good profit from these coins. The main thing at the time of completing the portfolio is to pay attention to the prospects of the coin, and not just buy what there is enough money for.

Now i'm looking on coins like bake, case, sparta, berry (on Binance Smart Chain)

Mostly it is indeed copying Bitcoin but might not be too direct copy. More like take it as investors would lean to other alts as well when they saw Bitcoin's price is quite seeing the green arrows lately. That's why it is common mindset for investors to go for alts once Bitcoin starts to show it. But on the bad side, people tend to dump alts when Bitcoin dumps as well that's why there aren't that many surviving coins.
