Hello! continuing on from a previous post I have here which has become too long. I have a Bitcoin address from a very long time ago (it's now empty). I need to sweep some BCH (Bitcoin Cash) from its fork and maybe Bitcoin Gold (if that still exists) and I think there was another fork called BSV (don't know if there are any other worthwhile forks to chase up).

My question would be: Could anyone recommend a reputable user-friendly exchange which has a sweep feature? I do realise this would mean handing the private key to the exchange, but the amount in this address is not great (even now in these times of peak Bitcoin value!). I just want to sweep it without hassles and complications rather than leaving it there forever. And I guess the exchange would have to be one that deals with these cryptos (BT Cash, Gold, SV, etc...) and not solely Bitcoin. Ideally, I'd probably like to convert these "fork funds" into BTC.

If there are no exchanges that do this, it would leave me with one other alternative, which is downloading a software wallet program and moving these "fork cryptos" myself to an exchange, which for a beginner like me is a little intimidating, I'm bound to make a mistake. This being the case, which software wallet is recommended ? Thanks!

AFAIK, Coinomi has a built in exchange, so after claiming your forked coins, you can simply exchange them to whatever coin you want.

I am not convinced that an exchange will do this. Private keys access is a sensitive matter and they can get easily into trouble. But you can look for wallets with in-built exchange, like written in the previous post.
I advise you start with moving your bitcoins into another wallet. It may be not a big amount, but still better safe than sorry. Some wallets may be fake and if you are not used with them you may get fooled easier.

Also, if you don't want to do it yourself, there's at least one user here who offers claiming service for a fee. But if you say that the amount is small, I don't know if it'll worth his time.

The first is that you are not sweeping, sweeping means transfering a private key from one wallet to another. An example is if you sweep the private key of a paper wallet into an online wallet like coinomi, sweeping will charge transaction fee, that is why it is not the same as private key importation which requires no fee.

In this case, you only want to claim the forked bitcoin cash. Only what you need to do is to get a wallet that support bitcoin cash, not an exchange. Do not give your private key to anyone, it can be used to compromise your wallet and all your coins will be lost. Just get yourself a bitcoin cash wallet that is also noncustodial. Import the private key of the bitcoin address, the bitcoin cash will appear. You can use eletron cash which is open source. After the importation, I will advice you to transfer your bitcoin private key to another safe wallet because of the private key which was imported into another wallet, this is for safety reason.

I've never seen an exchange that does this. They'd risk scam accusations if you (or someone else) empties your funds after handing over the private keys.
I can extract your Forkcoins (BCH/BSV/BCA-A/BCD/BTG) for you if you don't want to do it by yourself. If the amounts are low enough to risk them at a hot wallet, you can use Coinomi (Android) for BCH/BSV/BTG. That only leaves BCD/BCA-A, but those aren't worth that much. Before using Coinomi, you need to receive some Fork dust (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5304496.0) to force replay protection.

I still don't know a trusted exchange to get rid of BSV/BCH-A, the others can be traded at for instance Binance.

Oh by the way, how does Coinomi fare with regard to fees? Is it competitive?

If you're referring to the fees you have to pay when sending funds to someone, it's customizable as explained in this article[1].

As for using the exchange/swap feature, then these are set by the third-party platform that Coinomi is using (ShapeShift, Changelly, etc.). It's probably not that different from the fees you'll find in other wallets.

Could I ask how do fees compare between these "exchange-wallets" (Coinomi, for example, or Guarda, Edge...) and your usual independent online exchange? Would their fees be similar, or is one option much more favourable than the other?

From my experience, centralized exchanges like Binance tend to have fewer fees. I guess the main reason why people use wallets with built-exchanges is convenience/speed.
