BlackRock executives: We have begun to get involved in Bitcoin

Global asset management giant BlackRock fixed income chief investment officer Rick Rieder revealed in the SquawkBox financial plan that the company has begun to get involved in Bitcoin.

Now, the big bosses have begun to take action.

With the world's largest asset manager, with over $8T in assets under its management, probably it will be the biggest move of all the financial institutions. And it will be too hype than the previous passenger who get on board - tesla.

Soon most financial platforms/institutes will be joining and who knows maybe $100k is next.

I read about a note from the Spanish SEC officially saying that Bitcoin is a speculative asset, unofficially interpreted as a ban of following Tesla.

No wonder they finally realized they're missing out on a huge financial investment opportunity. But I think with Tesla the case is quite different. For one, Tesla actually bought a ton of BTC, whereas BlackRock just started experimenting with BTC a little if I understand it right. Secondly, Tesla is willing to accept BTC as payment, so Bitcoin is not only an asset, but also a form of money for them. BlackRock, on the other hand, is about profit rather than anything else. And finally, it seems that reputable websites published their news articles about it weeks ago, but something sparked interest for less popular websites recently. So if there was any impact to be made by this news, it already happened.

You would really anticipate this thing because once a big company or known ones will jump into a certain trend then you would really expect that the bandwagon would really be doing the same.

We would really be seeing in future months to come into these kind of adoption or recognition news about big companies or personalities do really tend to get involved with Bitcoin.

We would potentially be seeing a good market ahead for this year for sure but well always take those risk precautions and management.

Worlds moving trend toward digitalization, so I believe accepting and supoorting Bitcoin is a trend. Tesla is already involved with Bitcoin. So now other big companies would take advantage of Bitcoin and they are involving with it day by day. Stuck with the old system wouldn't be a business policy. So, go with the trend would be the right decision. When big companies will start involved with Bitcoin then more will start to follow them. As a result, we will see more instinctual investors and supporters as well.

I think that it is definitely a future trend, Elon musk is a freaking huge public figure, he had an early hand in Paypal and cashed out. Now he has Tesla a budding electric car company with luxurious top of the line models that can damn near drive themselves. Musk has Space-X and now even a big Bitcoin Investment. Shortly after many celebs started buying in, like monkey see, monkey do. Fortunately for us, that drives more traffic into the market and our investments grow!  8)

The institutions and the rest of the world private business that once said cryptocurrency is a bubble and highly speculating material now invest in crypto in totally a memorable achievement for Bitcoin and others reputable altcoin but if the pandemic issue doesn't happen the institution won't have invest in crypto. This reminds me the quote that says "good things sneak through the door we don't know we left open"

This is how we go into market innovation from traditional (use of paper money) to Digitalization. We can't hide the fact that people are wanting to have an easy life, by having this new technology, cashless payments satisfied the needs of the majority.

Apple is also rumored to buy bitcoin, but no official announcement has been made yet. Something worth noting is that the announcement was from the Blackrock chief investment officer of global fixed income.

That basically means bonds.

It's interesting as probably the first big mainstream investment company to buy bitcoin for investors was Ruffer, and they are a dedicated sort of fixed income / bonds type company.

The Blackrock bonds guys are probably taking the lead from Ruffer on this, who actually sold half their bitcoin investment recently and doubled their money, and probably therefore made their profit for the year.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that although some people here like to try and compare Bitcoin with stocks like Tesla, in the investment world (I mean investors on behalf of other people, not corporates like Microstrategy) they seem to be seeing it in the same basket as cash and bonds.

It is not a future trend. The trend has been lasting since 2020 till today and will keep continuing in the future.

"Getting involved in Bitcoin" still doesn't mean buying lots of BTC.
However,this is pretty bullish news.Having the biggest asset management fund in the world to buy some BTC will be a great marketing move.Bitcoin is no longer a scam or a shady project in the eyes of big institutional investors.The hype around BTC is going to grow even more in 2021.
Maybe the Blackrock guys are onto something...Maybe a big financial crisis is coming after the pandemic.

It is not the future trend, it is already a trend. Companies pouring money into investing in bitcoin has been around 2013, that was around Grayscale time. The only difference is that the Fortune 500 companies are looking at bitcoin's direction. Hopefully with Musk's as a spearhead for other celebrity entrepreneur, this will drive up the prices so high. As mentioned in the quote above, with celebrities buying bitcoin the market prices will increase because not just the celebrities are buying but their fans that want to imitate what their idol does.

There have been very important developments regarding Bitcoin since the beginning of the year. The fact that important companies like MicroStrategy and Square invested in it in 2020, Tesla in 2021, and PayPal allowed its users to buy and sell Bitcoin, in a way, Bitcoin got approval.

but it is possible that in the future Microsoft will be interested in blockchain and crypto. so just wait, more and more institutional investors join it will open up opportunities for big companies to develop blockchain. I'm sure they don't want to be left behind. so sooner or later they will definitely adopt blockchain or become one of the crypto investors.

The concept is pretty good, I think they make good decision by make the holder will receive a simple cash credit after the end of contract, it so practical. Good sentiments keep coming, it seems that this bullish market is for long term. I think even for people who buy bitcoin now will still get profit.

it was already predicted before that whenever there is a huge company invest in btc , every big companies are then going to follow and did really came true  . it was all started when a giant payment solution paypal entered btc and eventually tesla came in and now we have that company that you featured in the op . now whats next ? well that was a surprise for us to know but before that happens and before btc finally shoot up to 100k we should already have our own money invested in btc

This was said when PayPal started accepting bitcoin, it was like opening doors for large corporations to invest money in bitcoin, and it seems that everything is going according to what we predicted. And I think next time big corporations in the world will continuously pour money into the market and help prices go up in the future.

Paypal just integrated with an exchange so they are not receiving any bitcoin into their wallet and you're not either. Big companies are not going to invest their money on such custodial services where they actually mentioned that they will not cover any losses if there is hack or loss of coins for other reasons.

Don't be so sure, you never know what is cooking behind close doors, they may not say anything yet but they must have been seriously considering it imo, by joining this trend, there is a lot to gain than loss, am sure Elon recognize the many benefit of joining this trend hence his decision to invest such huge amount, Microsoft can not afford to be left out on this great opportunity.

Tesla have its own decision,But most many leading companies still scared from crypto.I think crypto is for proactive leaders and investors,Elon musk took initiative because he peronally know the crypto.But i think in future leading companie swill adopt the crypto.Either,for investment purpose or transaction purpose.There many benefits of crypto which can be helpful for the companies to reduce the expenses and generate the revenue.

There is no way that the great attention of world financial giants and world leading companies to Bitcoin can go unnoticed. the increasing bitcoin adoption is going to be the trend for at least another 10 years because firstly we are just getting started and the majority of the world is not yet aware of bitcoin and its potentials and secondly it is because they are all slowly figuring it out and after seeing a decade of excellent performance despite all the attacks and FUDs they have a higher confidence in joining the bitcoin world.

This trend has started not from Tesla)) Lots of people forgot about 2017. PayPal should innovate or they will die off, there are many business entities that slammed the bitcoin market for a long time because they knew that if there is a massive adoption in bitcoin then those companies would be history and hence they were forced to adopt or else they will die and we will see many companies like Visa and Mastercard adopting bitcoin so that they could continue their domination in the market.

The corporations pouring in money for only one reason to adopt to stay in the business or book massive profit during the rally.

When there is smoke there's a fire. It means the hype of bitcoin has been well known lately thus big companies like Tesla are taking the considerations to invest in such new kind of asset like bitcoin. We actually started to adopt cryptocurrency in different aspects of use like digital payments, blockchain tech use, virtual asset, etc.

I am really doubtful about this. PayPal adoption of Bitcoin was more beneficial to Bitcoin. PayPal user base is stagnating, and they were looking at ways to revive it. But in the end, it was Bitcoin which turned out to be the biggest beneficiary. I can divide the corporations to four, based on their approach to Bitcoin:

1. Corporations which are indifferent to Bitcoin: Includes Amazon, Netflix.etc. They don't want to get involved with Bitcoin.
2. Corporations that want to accept Bitcoin payments, but not open to investment in Bitcoin: Includes Microsoft and AT&T. They have included Bitcoin as an option for payments but don't want to take the risk by investing in BTC.
3. Corporations that have invested in Bitcoin: Includes Tesla, Overstock.etc. These companies believe that Bitcoin will give them good returns in the future and therefore they are investing in BTC.
4. Corporations which are against Bitcoin, but want to exploit the cryptocurrency sector for their own benefit: This group includes corporations such as FaceBook. They want to steal the technology from Bitcoin, and come up with their own shitcoin.

Blockchain and Bitcoin have really come to stay.
The use cases of the technology is very amazing. I am not surprised that Bitcoin is receiving such recognition. Alot of big guys are into it right now.

We are going to expect more changes as Bitcoin becomes trending. Not only rich people and big companies had been in talks about Bitcoin, small businesses, lower and the middle class have also shown interest. Maybe we could ask why?

The very rapid increase in the price of Bitcoin this year has made several large companies interested in Bitcoin. Moreover, seeing TESLA is without

After the Tesla and Bitcoin news I agree that many people started to get interested in Bitcoin because they saw how its value increases just because Tesla bought a lot more amount of it. It is also a beginning of people making interested on things how to earn or to make profit out of it. Personally, I have a friend who are interested in making some earnings in Bitcoin. She started to become interested and ask me some basic knowledge about bitcoin. She also buy some of it and planning to go trading and some stocks. I guess this bitcoin is very powerful that it can move a lot of people in just a simple transaction.

I believe more big player will start taking interest in bitcoin even they will also invest like Elon. Overall its a good thing for crypto market. Hope such moves helps bitcoin to achieve mass adoption and more money in Btc.

Something is off. Shouldn't Tesla focus on making better cars instead? $1.5billion is not small money and I need to remind you, Elon didn't pay from his own pocket. This is the shareholders' money he is putting on bitcoin. Also Tesla shares went down a lot after this purchase. So I don't think the Tesla share holders really liked that move. It is one of the most dumped stocks now. Lost more than 20% from its ATH.

If this continues in the future, all new large business structures will invest in bitcoin or other cryptocurrency, then the bull market may exist for a very long time. tesla cars are already superior type of cars .
 if they wont improve thier previous cars the sales are going to continue but if im one of the shareholders i will rage if elon musk wont ask permision on me but i think he did that before he made his move  .
 it was understandable if tesla stock dumped because it happened for a reason and that is they invested a billion dollar in btc but if btc pump again they can recover the invested amount with great returns

if BlackRock has jumped in and is involved in the advancement of bitcoin, it indicates that we cannot be left behind, then we may be more aggressive in owning bitcoin. My prediction there will be several companies starting to follow in the footsteps of TESLA by investing in Bitcoin. Therefore, HODL Bitcoin must

Blackrock won't invest in bitcoin for the time being. If I am wrong please correct me, but I remember this fund wanted to use the CME futures, which isn't actually investing in Bitcoin. I thought that Blackrock was investing in assets, companies and financial instruments, but I don't know why they only wanted to use the future markets for Bitcoin, or their intentions on their position. Maybe the see an opportunity and wanted to open a long position but this doesn't mean they invest. The futures market is speculative and doesn't have to do with adoption.

well, disappointed with the result because I thought they were good after the purchase, and people expecting a huge impact on the market.

But on the other side, Tesla moves into crypto significantly giving attraction to the other companies to follow. As people heard about Elon Musk supporting Bitcoin, Telsa is buying that huge amount, people will think that this investment could really be true in the future. That is probably the appreciation we might hear.

But what happened to Tesla is an internal problem, might stockholders not really confident about Bitcoin but only just Elon Musk. And this will not affect the price trend.

- Big players and investors have been interested in bitcoin for a long time, you can look at past news to see who it is but a common state of these players is to live in silence and accumulation, occasionally making some comments about bitcoin, and just waiting for things to accumulate enough, they will come up with new information like Tesla or Elon Musk. Never think this is a coincidence, one or two could be coincidence but too many famous people can only be conspiracy, and bitcoin is really an investment trend in the near future

     Well, it wouldn't be confusing to see this happen since the guy clearly has good decision making skills and guts which has lead him to where he is now. Of course, people would take his actions seriously either believing in him or believing that there will be people blindly believing in him and so would take advantage of this. Caught my drift? Now, had it been another person, would the same things happen as well? It depends. It depends as to whether the person trying to influence others are credible enough for people to believe in. A good reputation in investing, decision making etc.

     The trend could be continued if elon musk continues doing what he does or if another person who is quite famous enough does. This is because there will always be people who just base their actions depending on what others do along with those people who would always want to take advantage of other people's mistakes and all. That's just how it is in this industry.
