Title: Binance account help
Post by: Greenereggs on February 20, 2021, 08:39:57 PM
Greetings all,
So I recently attempted to log into my binance account after several months and apparently I’ve been locked out of my account. After some searching on Google I see Binance sent out an announcement to US residents last August to move their crypto over to Binance US and close their account. Trouble is we never received a single email notification from them and now I’m well past the deadline date.
I have several thousands of dollars in crypto on Binance (most of my savings) and Binance support has basically stopped corresponding with me.
To make matters worse I live in one of the Binance US restricted states (Vermont) and at a loss on how to retrieve our currency.
Any, absolutely any help pointing us in the right direction would be so GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you, Graham

The best thing in my opinion this time is to chat with a binance US customer care, or if they are busy, you can send them a email using the same customer support page.

Have you tried to login using VPN and not working? I believe this should be the first try on binance.com before contact binance support.

You have always been warned never to use exchanges as long term storage wallets for your digital assets or else you could lose your funds due to various reason such as your right now.
The only people in position to help you right now are the Binance.com team, Try and be patient and see if they will eventually reply your open tickets.

Binance.com is where the problem is, they are the one OP has an account with not Binance US, so I doubt the US wing will help solve OP's problem

Once an account has been flagged and blocked, Any IP address won't work.

Are you a registered US resident on binance? From this article (https://coinmarketcap.com/headlines/news/binance-blocking-us-users-14-day-deadline-new-email/), the deadline for registered users was 14 days and for those who were being tracked by IP, a much longer one of 90 days.

Trouble is we never received a single email notification from them and now I’m well past the deadline date.

If you never got the email then you have a case against them. Imo, your best option would be to continue sending support mails to them, with full details about the situation. Try contacting them on social media as well to get more attention
Always remember, Not your keys; not your coins.

Can you update on this issue when you get it fixed?  I got to assume even though this is a us user, they will still allow him to withdraw somehow right?  But yea him being in a US restricted state which doesn't allow binance.us would be another issue.

It is your fault that you did not log in your account for many months. I did not know Binance sent notification email to their US customers weeks or months before the restriction but even I am not a US citizen, I knew that news from media.

You lost the 14 days to withdraw your funds

Binance Gives US Users 14 Days to Leave Exchange (https://decrypt.co/49317/binance-gives-us-users-14-days-to-leave-exchange)

Do you search your email and sure that you did not miss that email from Binance?

Email notices sent to U.S. users give them 14 days to withdraw funds before Binance shutters their accounts for good.

“As we constantly perform periodic sweeps of our existing controls, we noted that you are trying to access Binance while having identified yourself as a U.S. person. Please note that as per our Terms of Use, we are unable to service U.S. persons. Please register for an account over at our partner, Binance US,” the notice reads.

I think you can only contact their support and hope.

They use past IP addresses or KYC information to lock account. When your account was locked, you can not use VPN to log in or unlock it.
Have you tried to login using VPN and not working?

Although it looks binance's fault first and last, not responding to customer troubles, it has said often to not put funds on exchanges - they can get hacked, exit scam or unfortunate incidents like happened to op.

Some e-mail providers are blocking e-mails from Binance, or it might end up in spam and the OP never checks them (which makes sense since why would you check spam messages regularly).

IMO it's hard to pinpoint who is at fault there, if anything OP looks unfortunate. The best thing OP can do for the future, as others have said, is to not store his money on an exchange. Especially if he decided to leave it for months. Who knows what might happen.
