how does it happen? which wallet your friend used?. If wallet exchange you can contact exchange support. if non-custodial wallet nothing to do, this means the hacker owns your friend private key, you can't take it back 3000 waves, you have to contact the local  police.

I'm sorry for your friend, but now that the waves have left his wallet and are already on a wallet that is not controlled by himself he can do nothing to get his waves back.
When you look at that adress though you can see that it is very active with a transaction going on almost every minute. Did your friend lease his wave to a node or something to earn some interest or something?
It could also be a exchange adress because that amount of transactions normally don't happen on a wallet of a private user.

He restored his account with his seed online.
He probably used a fake side.
At the same day someone canceled the leasing sold his 3k waves in btc and send the btc to the address...
Thank you

He can do nothing as the transaction in the blockchain is permanent and it's an irreversible dude. It looks like that will be related to the hacker's address or exchange site address.
I think that someone knows his private key or access to the his wallet.

you have to contact the local  police.

Local police will not help you a lot.

Thats very unfortunate incident, thats why each and every one of us crypto users should be aware that anyone can be a victim of hacking and the best thing to do is to make our wallet security updated and if possible use a multi-layered security level, dont just settle on just a single password, use 2Fa such as code via email or mobile number and of course secure those private keys in your position.

If your friend know that address then he should pursue to get the WAVES back to him. I think the address was likely associated to an exchange or from a whale address since there are too many assets on that address. I doubt that your friend will ever get back that one but at least try some ways like how did the WAVES sent on that address.

Hello.
A friend of me got hacked and lost 3k waves.
The Waves was send to this address :
3PGS9W5aZ4kdBFJJ9jxmgjLW8qfqu1b3Y66

I saw the address that the OP mentioned, it seems that in this forum nobody uses that address.

However, it is very difficult, to find out a real hacker to detect.
Looks like your friend's Waves coin has been melted into some other coins.

https://wavesexplorer.com/address/3PGS9W5aZ4kdBFJJ9jxmgjLW8qfqu1b3Y66/tx

https://zizihub.com/792746.jpg

It's quite difficult to find out the real hackers, because they have 1000 other addresses to transfer coins to.

^ It looks like OP was got hack by a fake exchange, we don't know who is the owner of that wallet but I saw that there are tons of transactions there per see.
Try to have a look at the TX that I provided in this post, https://wavesblockexplorer.com/address/3PGS9W5aZ4kdBFJJ9jxmgjLW8qfqu1b3Y66/tx.
If that is an exchange, can you tell us what exchange site that your friend sending that amount of Wave that you have said? Nevertheless, here what I say, sorry for your friend's loss but that is the unrecoverable amount that your friend lost, the crypto transaction is irreversible, your friend needs to accept the fact and avoid that it will happen again in the future.

without having a specific website it is impossible to get more information. can you get the url ?
It's full of service ready to steal your private seed (leasing to a node isn't the issue) and this is why it's always a must use only trusted site... probably this one is actually stealing private seeds since there are other transactions :(

I disagree. This is internet crime and should be reported. Depending on the country, the authorities will have department for electronic crime and fraud, which will be responsible to find clues, if there will be any. However, I agree they will not help a lot unless the scam or hack reaches millions of dollars in total.

It is sad to say that your friend's Waves coins will never return unless he knows the hacker personally, as maybe the hacker knows where he hid his wallet key. Also, he may have made Crypto transactions in internet cafes or some public computers with a keylogger installed. So charge this to your experience so that it will never happen again.

Tell your friend to move on and don't expect anyone to help him out, he can lose more money again trying to pursue this lost waves coins, some can even private message you that they can help you get your coins back, this is another trick from scammers, it's better to move on and learn from your mistake

ok maybe a crime report should be open I agree with you.
but an address is a useless clue and for an amount of money like this it's very hard to keep track and can be exchanged or mixed very easily.
there are hundreds of similar loss each year, just a small percentage have been caught but only for some mistakes made when exchanging coins or creating fake website.

The best thing your friend could do is to forget he had this wallet and move. Btw, remind he to warn everyone who sent waves to his wallet not to send anything him anymore, as the hacker would immediately withdraw it also. Second advice - force your friend to pass internet security courses if he is so inattentive.

This is a bad scenario, your friend already lost his Waves due to phishing, it also happened on my wallet before, my MEW was hack because I was too careless on checking the website and I did not notice I already visited a phishing site.

What did I do, I just forget and learn from that mistake, that hacker would never return the coin they stolen, that's for sure.

You will need to give more information on how the hack took place if it is a personal wallet or an exchange so as to know which advice to give. If it your personal wallet then it may be hard to track and recover but if it an exchange then contact the exchange support team they can help you out.
It's a personal wallet
Thanks

for what I can see, it seems that this balance isn't completely empty and there are some assets inside... and 15.20604478 waves
I think it should be better he moves these funds immediately so he can save this small 0,5% of funds :( not too much but it seems inside the wallet... another suggestion for your friend: adopt a cold wallet for the next time!

Did you ask your friend if he clicks on somewhere maybe someone sent him an email? because I think he is a victim of Phishing and that could be the reason why his 3000waves came out from his wallet or maybe did he sent it to an exchange? that is not trusted because I read some posts in this thread that it might be an exchange address, contact the support of that exchange maybe he can get an answer to his questions.

He didn't click a link in a email.
He didn't sent the waves to a wallet.
Everything looks like he logged in with his seed on a Phishing site, because he want to check the balance in his wallet. Everything was OK, but at the same day someone logged in and sold everything :(

How come the hacker did plushed all your waves, there's still 799.55306958 WAVES inside, your friend needs to login to get that amount back at least.

There are indeed projects in waves that are asking for private keys which is why I don't join on it particularly the waves.exchange where you can stake and earn weekly. If it asked for a private key, you may really be cautious.

Sorry those coins are gone since transaction are irreversible and there's no other way to get those coins back unless if that hacker did decide to return those coins again which
is really an impossible thing to happen.

This is why we should really be careful and keen towards our security information and making all sorts of things to make it secure neither your wallet
or any platforms that you've been using which needed to have that 2fa or other layers of security.

People never learn until they do experience unfortunate events.

It seems like your friend's situation is a hopeless one for the transaction became successful without him knowing for the hacker have outsmarted your friend when it comes to his account. This must serve as a lesson then to your friend to be careful when doing important transactions online and be aware and secure that the site you've been logging in is safe as well as the device and beware of clicking strange pop ups, links, emails from unknown resources for it might contribute to the loss of your funds because most hackers are genuinely wise upon doing their tasks. So bad that your friend got victimized by those kind of individuals.

it will be impossible to be traced consider even the centralized chain can still remain preudonymous. his friend already lost his money and it can't be recovered again.
He should move on and try to invest his money to the legit project to be able recover his money asap.
This is a permanent loss.

Unfortunately in crypto you have to be careful about what you are doing because once a thing is done, it is not going to have a chargeback and you have to just accept it as it is. That money is gone, nobody can get it back for you, I know that could be a lot of money for your friend but the reality is that there is nothing you could do to get it back, even if it feels incredibly upsetting to hear this and you want to know if there is a way or you want to know what he can do to get it back, nobody can help you with that and it's gone.

Next time make sure you are doing everything right and there is no method that could take your money away somehow, being hacked is very common in crypto because people are not careful enough and that is why too many people lose their money here. As long as he is very careful, he should probably not face something like this again.

Now, when the world is very unpredictable and the world of high technologies surrounds us. It is very difficult to protect your funds in e-wallets, as there are so many scammers who want to clear your wallets. You just need to be very careful with suspicious sites and many other projects. Before doing something, you need to check and only then connect to the project. If suddenly you are hacked again, you just need to forget and accept. You need to make multiple wallets and split your funds across all wallets. This way you will save most of your money.

Exactly there is still an amount inside the wallet he should just move it to another wallet if he doesn't want any of it moved again by a hacker since they know already the PK of this wallet. Damn the guy still lingers to that wallet and still has some waves on it. What is he waiting for?  Those waves will never go to come back but only the hacker wants to get more.

In fact, Wave wallets are hacked quite often. Spyware can be caught somewhere in websites or obtained along with a platform update. Most likely the problem is viruses that copy passwords. Although it is possible that there was an entry through a phishing site.

I think if there was a problem with the security of the exchange itself, then some official statements would already have appeared. Now it is hardly possible to recover the stolen funds. But you shouldn't panic, such risks are always present on the crypto market, no one is immune from deception.  :-X

I don't think so, I haven't ever know this address and probably this wallet has been used by any stranger or a person who you've been entrusted. Due to busy activities, maybe you've forgotten something valuable on your wallet security.
Think of any possibility, whether your pc has been exposed to any household members of a visitor who visited in your house. We didn't know you what circumstances may exist if you're personal computer wasn't having a privacy or commonly used inside your house.

Tell your friend  to withdraw the rest of his funds to a safer a wallet. Unfortunately  if it's  a personal wallet,  then the funds would be hard to retrieve, even  with the exchanges  I doubt, once the transactions has been broadcasted  and confirmed  on the blockchain, it would  be very difficult  to retrieve  the funds.

Such big mistake for someone who do really get fooled by a phishing site. 3000 Waves value into its current price ($9.80) which is totaled almost $30k which this one
is really expensive mistake that he had done.Sent out cryptos cant really be retrieved back even though you do know on where those coins landed on neither on a personal
wallet or directly go to an exchange wallet but there nothing you can do but accept his lost of funds and on next time these will really be reminding him off
that wallet security and common sense does really play a great role.

My advice is that your friends have to move on, I know 3000 waves is quite a large number. But it is very difficult to trace the hacker's wallet,
It takes the help of someone who does have good programming skills to trace the address. If your country legalizes cryptocurrency, you can
tell your friends to ask the police for help. Because usually the police have a cyber crime division, which deals with hacking problems in
the internet world. Make this a lesson for your friends, to be more careful in saving your coins. Always keep it in a wallet with a good security system,
and don't forget to use anti-malware on the device you normally use. Then do not carelessly click the link that is suspicious or unknown.

how can it happen?
before they hack your wallet, they need authenticator or your private key to send to that wallet,
it maybe you clicked a phising site or maybe someone took your private key in your pc.
i'm so sorry for your loss, let's cheer up and be more careful from now on.
there's nothing you can do at this point. :(

Hacking and stealing of coins is rampant these days probably it is due high sophistication of hackers where many unsuspecting coin hodlers might not be aware that their PC or Laptop is already vulnerable, I had personally experienced such such attack when I copied and paste the wallet address of my recipient to send some coins however after pasting it copied a completely unknown address it was diligence that saved me from sending my coins to this scammer probably  your friend had a similar experience that lead to stealing of 300 WAVES which a huge amount of coin.

i check the address via waves explorer and i cant find any info on the owner of that address but i can see his waves balance are around 700 waves , it could be possible that he already send the rest of the waves to another address ? but why i cant see that on his past transactions but all i see are different coins such as usdt , ltc , monero and so on . the guy could be a big person because he can be able to transact good amounts of different coins to other addreses but in regards to your friends lost , you cant do anything about that but tell your friend to be extra careful next time .

how does it happen? which wallet your friend used?. If wallet exchange you can contact exchange support. if non-custodial wallet nothing to do, this means the hacker owns your friend private key, you can't take it back 3000 waves, you have to contact the local  police.
He restored his account with his seed online.
He probably used a fake side.
At the same day someone canceled the leasing sold his 3k waves in btc and send the btc to the address...
Thank you

Seems your friend opened a phishing site. I don't click links when visiting websites, I would rather type the whole address and even bookmark websites I often visit for my own security. There is nothing else you can do even if you report it to the authorities. Charge it to experience and learn from it.

Not learning from it is the worse that could happen. His friend decided to invest in WAVES, he must have a good understanding of the project that he put a huge amount for it. Maybe he also needs to bank knowledge of securing tokens and avoid hacks and fishing. The advice is still not too late, I'm sure his friend will still invest in some other projects.

Nothing. He can't do anything. He lost his tokens and won't be able to get it back (unless the hacker feels bad and returns it to him which I doubt will ever happen). One thing he can do is to know how he got hacked. I bet he stored his tokens in an online wallet or an exchange. Or maybe in a computer that's infected. Let this be a lesson to him. Tell him to learn from here and in the future to make sure all his accounts and wallets where he stores his tokens/coins are secured and safe.
Not worth regretting about it. Tell him to move on and start all over agai.

Hello.
A friend of me got hacked and lost 3k waves.
The Waves was send to this address :
3PGS9W5aZ4kdBFJJ9jxmgjLW8qfqu1b3Y66
What should he do now?
Does anyone know this address?
Best wishes and thanks.
Crypto transactions are irreversible and anonymous so there is no identity linked with crypto addresses so it is not possible to find who hacked the wallet, but it is important to find how he was hacked to save if there are any coins stored on the same device where the waves were stolen.

Ask him to scan his device with antivirus to find any malicious app or files which will be injected by hackers to steal funds via spam emails.

Just try to trace the transaction and if the hacker happens to send those waves to exchange you can then contact the exchange to freeze the wallet immediately but of course it's gonna be complicated and there's no guarantee that you can get your money back or the exchange willing to freeze the account.
But, if he's using P2P then it's as good as gone, always enable security layer to your wallet (2fa, etc) if you don't want thing like this to repeat again. So many malwares out there.
