Title: MyCelium Unable to Send To Specific Addresses
Post by: jablo1312 on February 23, 2021, 03:04:02 PM
This is probably a noob question but...My MyCelium wallet is unable to send BTC to certain other addresses. For example, I also have a BlueWallet on my phone, and when I attempt to transfer BTC from MyCelium to BlueWallet, MyCelium prohibits me from sending. Does anyone know why this might be? I've tried to research some cross compatibility between wallets but haven't been able to find any decent information, so figured I would ask it here.

What specific error did you face? Are you sure that it's a correct bitcoin wallet address without whitespace or other extra characters?

Or, you are unable to send bitcoin generally? If you can send bitcoin to one address using mycelium, you will be able to send bitcoin to all other Bitcoin addresses addresses be it legacy, compatible or segwit. If you are unable to send, make sure the mycelium wallet completely synchronize.

Maybe, you are you are entering the address manually and you enter one or more characters incorrectly.
Another thing that comes to my mind is that, you are using the "share" button in bluewallet. If you do so, bluewallet shares bitcoin:yourbitcoinaddress and you need to remove "bitcoin:".

The easiest thing you can do is to tap on your bitcoin address in bluewallet and then select "Clipboard" in Mycelium.

I believe this is probably the case.

There is no such thing as blacklisted addresses, and you can send your coin to any valid address. You are probably sending to an invalid address, because you typed/pasted it incorrectly.

You may have copied a black space after the addresses, such as "36XRdQsT7iX....8D7RdaCvL ", this blank space in the end may be causing the problem.

Hi guys,

I'm copying the address directly from BlueWallet and pasting into MyCelium. It seems to be an issue w/ BlueWallet, not MyCelium, but the address's from BlueWallet are too long and generate an error message w/in MyCelium. Can post screen shots if that will help, but yea haven't seen this issue before.

Just tested this in Mycelium.
I added an extra space at the end of the address and didn't get any error.

If I add any other character, it says "Invalid Bitcoin Address".

You are probably doing something wrong.
I have bluewallet in my android phone and it works with no problem.

Can post screen shots if that will help,
Post the screenshot. It should be helpful.

I've just tested this by copying a bc1q-address from BlueWallet to Mycelium, and it works without errors.

This is probably a noob question
In that case: your Mycelium is set to Bitcoin, and not ETH, right?

Or even more n00b: did you get a Bitcoin address from BlueWallet, or did you create a Lightning payment request? Those are a lot longer and won't work in Mycelium indeed.

What is the exact form of the address from Blue wallet that you are attempting to send to? ???

Mycelium supports all the standard Bitcoin address types - Legacy ("1"-type), P2SH ("3"-type) and bech32 ("bc1"-type) addresses...

I do knot that Bluewallet also supports using Lightning Network... so, I suspect you might be attempting to send to a "Lightning" wallet from BlueWallet... Mycelium is not compatible with the Lightning network at this time.

It's the bech2 type address, my MyCelium wallet is unable to send to those.

In that case, you should probably upgrade to the latest version of Mycelium.

What version of Mycelium are you using... and on what platform? Are you using Android or iOS? ???

Mycelium definitely doesn't have a problem sending to bech32 addresses.

What version and operating system (android? which version?) were you using?
Did you try to update already? Does the error still persist?

I'd be interested in knowing what the actual issue was (outdated with a very old version, bugs, etc..).
