Title: Google Finance adds Crypto tab
Post by: notblox1 on March 01, 2021, 09:31:26 PM
After Yahoo Finance did it much earlier we can now see that Google Finance just added Crypto tab with prices for cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and BitcoinCash.
If you go to Compare Markets category you will see newly added Crypto tab along with Stocks and Currency markets, with graphical comparison.

As of now, they only have 4 cryptocurrencies in the list but this is already a good initial step from their end. It means, they are already recognizing the presence of crypto in the financial market. Soon, we will be seeing more alts in their list. To those individuals that are still considering crypto as fraud, now, they may re-think about it, because google finance will not include crypto if it is fraud.

For every single minute they ignore Bitcoin and crypto-currencies were their own loss. Good to see they learned their lesson and stop being so toxic about Bitcoin.
First they tried to fight but they lost and then had to accept it. Regular crypto-currency users wouldn't use their tab for price check though, there are better alternatives in the system already. It's good for mainstream acceptance and average joe's though.

They're now attracted by Bitcoin as much as flies are by poop. They can't defeat us, so they just have to join us all.

In the past few years at least, Google has shown us how much they despise us. They've intentionally allowed scams on their platforms so that people are deceived and scammed by crypto. They've made various statements and bans against cryptocurrencies and censored us from speaking out loud.

Unless this is a smart trap coming from them, the fact that they've started to add crypto-related info on their own platforms speaks out loud by itself. They've been defeated, so all they can do left is try to grab as much attention and money as possible from potential crypto-interested customers of theirs..

This is positive for cryptocurrency. I remember after 2017, almost all social media sites went against bitcoin ads and that brought some fud in crypto space but now they are beginning to come up to it Facebook taking the lead with Libra. It is more profit list if they ban crypto and they realize this and embracing it. Different institutions are going for cryptocurrency and while not for google. ;D

We all knew this is going to happen, and we can expect more in the future. More of the Fortune 500 will follow. Those who have been investing in cryptocurrency for a long time are lucky to have lived in such a time where crypto is just on its way to becoming a normal thing. I wish I had known and become capable of investing in it when it first came out.

They better also implement crypto as payment method in their services because using credit card is such a PITA not to mention it's really vulnerable to credentials data stealing.
But seriously though, cryptocurrency gonna be mainstream in no time and will be number 1 choice for sending money internationally, these recognition by the large corporation is such a catalyst for that to happen.

Well well well, how the turntables... :D Remembering back when Google and Facebook banned all crypto related adds in 2018. Its just too much money for Google to look away now, i am sure we will see payments implemention soon also.

Hard to ignore given the influence crypto has now compared to a few years ago when scam ICOs were booming. Right now, the cryptosphere has a completely different air especially since there are institution involvement and soon to be merchant payments thru paypal. Everyone used to associate crypto to scams and illicit activities because of the ICO boom, so it was pretty much taboo then. Youtube still gatekeeps crypto content but that could still change in the near future. NFTs are becoming a thing now and a lot more NFT games are being released. Maybe we can expect to see them being advertised as well.

Yeah, I have seen all the chaos over the YouTube when the crypto related channels were also taken down by the google itself. That was the nightmare for the bounty hunters since soon after the google, twitter made it clear that no crypto related channels will be allowed.

However, in the era of Elon Musk and his almighty dreams about the crypto currencies and plus ever growing searches regarding the crypto key-words Google has out down their sword and they have accepted the truth that Crypto stuff is real and part of day to day life!

Some new to crypto will wonder and how it also affected the price when they announced it, to give them some glimpse here's the news of it way back 2018 from CNBC: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/13/google-bans-crypto-ads.html

It was almost 3 years now but what could have changed their mind that they even have some crypto tabs about the price? Well, I expect it good and totally bullish and hope they wouldn't revert it once again and that's really a total bullshit and centralizing the way search engine is used. I am just waiting when will be the fad or total adaption of decentralized search engines, fingers crossed.

The only downside to this move is that one of the coins they advertise (BitcoinTrash) is presented as a cheap alternative to real Bitcoin - and it's a known fact that a site that shills that altcoin pops up at the top of search results for years when searching for "buy bitcoin".

I expect a new series of confused newbies who will soon find themselves in a situation where they bought cheap Bitcoin, then sent it to the BTC address of some exchange and were left without money and coins.

This means platforms on the surface web starts to accept and recognize cryptocurrency as a part of the trading markets. This is a good kickstart for Crypto industry as we can see on this post in a positive way. Hoping that this will continue so that there would be less conflicts for crypto to other platforms.

At least they have changed their attitude toward bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Those innovative tech companies will not stand aside and watch things alter in the ways they are not able to control. They have to jump on a boat where most of us are driving. Damn, love how bitcoin is adopted in many parts both in the digital and physical world.

Many stock companies and forex brokers have added bitcoin. The rules have changed.

My government is considering regulating bitcoin so as they can easily collect tax arrears. This is a good attestation of mass adoption and with new laws, investors in my country are protected from thieves and cybercrime. Those scums are everywhere trying to steal our money with sophisticated methods.

Elon Musk?If someone like Elon Musk would invest in crypto, there is no way Google going to ignore this at all. Tesla is a company that makes most other companies looks petty so with Tesla setting up the bar of investing in bitcoin , this set up an example for the other company as well to take their first step into crypto.

However way back in 2017 2018 there was alot of those crypto based scam such as HYIP, cloudmining and such so it was understandable that Google banned crypto ads

I think it was 2018 or 2019 when Google banned the word cryptocurrency, bitcoin, and other related keywords since they said that it is to minimize the number of users being misled by scammers. They banned it on the platform but they never removed it in their ads lol. But right now, it seems that they are getting the trend now, and it's just wise for them to add the tab knowing how hard the search trends surged for anything crypto-related in 2020 and 2021. They're just capitalizing on the current trends, and I won't even argue with that considering that it opens up one more avenue wherein people can easily access information that they wanted on crypto with no strings attached.

The world is slowly moving on from the past, and seems to have buried most of their antagonizing thoughts toward crypto as more and more well-established companies, entities, and firms around the world are supporting cryptocurrencies. Confidence on cryptocurrencies is at an all-time high apart from the price, and hopefully continues to go higher once more well-defined rules, regulations and whatnot are set in place (of course these regulations should also be fair).

I was asking myself when what was that time and thanks that I remember it through that year, apparently on 2018. It was also the time when giant social media such as Facebook banned advertisements related to cryptocurrencies.

Now, Google hits it and doing it right. They can no longer ignore the popularity of cryptocurrencies and that's such a nice feature along with the stocks prices so whoever checks the stocks through them, will have a glance of the crypto market prices.

The Gandhi quote always comes to mind when it comes to developments like this.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

First they ignored Bitcoin/crypto completely. Then they laughed at Bitcoin and all investors as nerds and idiots. Then they started fighting Bitcoin (including the ban of Bitcoin on Youtube). And now they surrender. Bitcoin/crypto won.

It's a good thing that we have a dashboard that displays cryptocurrency tokens and traditional stock. This will bring a symbiosis relationship between the two ecosystem and more users into crypto space.
But on a second thought, I feel this is not necessary because this will increase sentiment about crypto correlation with trade stock. People will always want to compate the two market whenak8ng decisions which is not healthy for cryptocurrency.

Ironic, isn't it?

And it isn't just Google either - we have seen a complete reversal in attitude from several influential global firms in regards to crypto.

It's no surprise that investment is flooding into developing these gadgets, products and new services now that the crypto boom is in full swing. Google is not doing this because they like the concept of decentralisation - don't get it twisted. They are simply here to capitalise off potential profits while the bull market is still running.

Wait until the bear market swings by and you'll see everyone's true colours. But hey, for now, I'll enjoy being able to get live quotations into my Google Sheets at least.

Its not like Google 'surrender' because adding crypto tab in google finance benefit them as well. Google is pretty much giving what most of their user wants because Crypto is a definitely top search for 2020 and early 2021 so yeah its understandable.

But on a second thought, I feel this is not necessary because this will increase sentiment about crypto correlation with trade stock. People will always want to compate the two market whenak8ng decisions which is not healthy for cryptocurrency.

It works both ways because some people might not even know what crypto is and with this new crypto tab, it will atleast spark some interest from people that read it for the first time.

I found out about crypto when I was skimming through some HYIP ads then found out interesting words in their payment system. That word was "Bitcoin Accepted". Thats how I got to know about crypto

As Elon Musk once said, “In hindsight, it was inevitable.”

There will be resistance at first. That's the normal reaction to something new, strange, and disruptive. It is comfortable being with the status quo, with the one people are very familiar with. But nothing can stop change, not even the powerful Google.

If it's Bitcoin's time, it will be its time. And I think the time is ripe for Bitcoin. And we are seeing a lot of critics turning over a new leaf. We're seeing a lot of doubters and even opponents becoming Bitcoin fans.

And now they surrender. Bitcoin/crypto won.

Do you really think Bitcoin won the war, or maybe it just won one battle? It’s one thing to really believe in something, and quite another to want to use it for your own self-interest. All those who have ignored Bitcoin in recent years, or spoken negatively in that context, now see an opportunity to make money and don’t want to miss that opportunity - and Google is no exception.

It's amazing that no one has noticed or commented on which shitcoin Google also promotes - but it's just proof that most people look at the very narrow picture, and don't realize that even good moves can often have negative consequences.

Even I remembered this same incident. When the price of bitcoin had crossed the 19k$ and back to the value less then 10k$. Many country government fear on this case and inorder to safe their people. Some of the country had made a illegal to trade cryptocurrency. The advertising related to cryptocureency also banned.

It was a good idea to add the cryptocurrencies tap on google finance. Good to see they are attracted by bitcoin and crypto. However, they do have only four different cryptocurrencies on the list including btc, etc, bch and ltc. But there are many other recognized coins needs to be listed there. I believe they can add much more coins in the future, but still adding the tap can be counted as a huge step forward for them.

Good thing, this is one more step in the normalization of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. I visit google finance from time to time but hadn't noticed. Let's see how long it takes Google to buy bitcoin or accept payments. I don't think it will be the next one but it looks like little by little all the big ones will follow in the footsteps of Tesla and Paypal.

Feel good to see that because we all want that crypto will go far in the future. I think the positive time starts already for cryptocurrency, there was a time when people were afraid of cryptocurrencies but now time BTC comes in the position that people can trust it and it creates a dependency for its beauty. For this step of Google will achieve the participation of all crypto lovers.
