Title: Myetherwallet - private key?
Post by: fh33i on March 04, 2021, 05:21:08 PM
I was using myetherwallet for a while and have some eth stored on there, but I want to start using MyCrypto desktop app instead. I can't find any option in MEW to export the private keys for use in another wallet. How is this supposed to work?

Did you mean Exporting from MEW Web 3 Interface? If so then you click this button bellow and you can see your private key with public key, It's better to access it on safe Device + Internet and if possible on offline condition.

But if you mean exporting your private key from your MyCrypto Dekstop App (Before it MewConnect) You can first install Trust Wallet or Metamask then Import your Mnemonic phrase after that you can Export Your Private key. I hope it can help, Good luck!

If you access  your MEW by using Mnemonic Phrase or JSON, they didnt have any feature to give you private key of your wallet (i think kinda of security issues).
So you can import your wallet first to Trust Wallet and then access your private key there in the wallet settings menu.

Yes I was using the mnemonic phrase option in MEW. So I they really don't allow you to export the private keys into another client? In that case I can't believe I got scammed into using this POS (my fault for believing the most popular client would be trustworthy).

Is there another way to get the private key without Trust Wallet, as that software seems to be mobile only and I only have a PC?

OK never mind I managed to import the mnemonic phrase in mycrypto and it is showing the correct balance.

That's why while I'm reading your past posts, I'm confused why you're not able to import it since MEW and Mycrypto are compatible and the history of it is that mycrypto devs are past devs of MEW and it asks the same recovery words/private keys and json file.
Well, if it's already imported, lock this thread.

you can access your wallet via private key or mnemonic phrase in web version only
If you downloaded the new app and you want to access your wallet from there they currently don't support private keys. They have already made an announcement on this matter
