Title: Gary Gensler & bitcoin
Post by: hugeblack on March 06, 2021, 07:22:18 PM
I was attending some blockchain MIT OpenCourseWare on YouTube  Taught by Gary Gensler and I heard that President Joe Biden chosen him to lead the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
I'd like to add some quotes.

Quote
“As I teach at MIT on these subjects, these innovations have been a catalyst for change,” Gensler began, adding:

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have brought new thinking to payments and financial inclusion but they’ve also raised new issues of investor protection that we still need to attend to.

“So I think, if confirmed at the SEC, I’d work with fellow commissioners to promote new innovation but also, at the core, ensure investor protection,” he continued.

Gensler clarified: “To the extent that somebody is offering an investment contract or security that’s under the SEC’s remit, and they have exchanges that operate there, then we have to make sure there’s investor protection.”

I think we have some objective presentation of the issue away from those who view Bitcoin in terms of being an illegal currency or for speculation.
Do you expect that the increase in educational curricula on blockchain may change many people's view of Bitcoin?

Yes I do think so, it will make it clear to those mis-concepting about it. Also educating people about it will make people into blockchain more, because then have gotten an educative insight about it, and people like to share knowledge, for instance in there homes, societies, social media and more so blockchain reaches more ears and places.
But my fear is that who gives the outlines of the circular, will there be removals or additions to fit a chosen standard.
