Title: Questions That You Would Like To Ask To The Developer Before You Invest
Post by: robelneo on March 07, 2021, 10:29:39 PM
I have a discussion about this some three or four years ago but since the landscape of Cryptocurrency and the market is very much different now than three or four years, so I would like to ask the community again what would be the top 5 questions that you will personally ask a developer on a project that you would like to support or invest, I'm looking for the best 20 questions to include in my blog.

Note if you are a newbie looking for merit this is a good opportunity to gain one so take your best shot.

What problem can solve with this project?

That will be my main question. A project without use is useless. I am a developer too and I know the feeling if you create a project without people using it or without problems being solved, it is just a waste of time.

What are their long term plans for the project?

Many investors are looking for long term projects that they want to invest in. And if there's a good explanation about the long term plans that the devs have, they might get a click from the investors.

Excluding the road map.

I am not a professional investor, so my question may be just like common newbies or beginners in crypto. However, I am trying to let you know guys about the possible questions to ask the developers.  :D
1. What is the specific target to reach in the near future?
2. How big funds you need to ensure us that you will run the project properly? (get from IEO, ICO, STO, etc)
3. Why do you choose this sector for your crypto project? Is it promising enough to be launched?
4. How do you ensure us that the project will be successful and not regret the investors later?
5. Do you have a specific approach or strategy to make the project successful?

I'll ask him about the supply, how many percentage of the supply does the team has and what is the purpose of the team having that percentage of the supply, this is important, the team percentage is something investors are looking out, there's always a suspicious that the team will dump their shares, when it hit the market.

In every projects, there's a goal, white paper and roadmap to be followed and if you will ask the developers, of course, they will always prefer the best shot to their projects.  IMO, here are the most important.

  • What can be used of the project to the community and it will be solved the real-world problems?
  • What is the total and the circulating supply of the project?
  • The developer's goal and activity and should be stated on Gihub
  • Is there a real product?
  • Burning token

Ive always wanted to ask these questions to the developers;

- How this project maintain it's utilization?

- When you created this project, what is your main goal that is different from the other?

- Will this continued to be harbored and patronized in the long run?

-What impact this project will give to the crypto community?

The first question would be "Are you scammers?"

You could tell what sort of questions next if they say "Not" because they will have to prove but most probably I would look for the community that supports the project and which company is behind its back. And then asks them about the relationship of the company. New projects are unattractive nowadays, its not as easy as buying the ICO token and then wait for the pump when listed in the market.

Here are my list of important question that I usually asked. Maybe same for some but have my own opinion.

1. Why we out our money on this project for a long term?
2. What are the use cases that are gonna be available before or after platform launch?
3. How do you do auditing and assessment of your tokenomics and financial budget?
4. Do you really need to raise fund even you got already seeded invested by your partners?
5. What so special about the project that community would be delighted and get their interest?

For projects that you need to question, I think the project may not be big enough to be part of this space, but for new projects I usually start with the foundation they're building. build or use. And these will be the questions that I think you should ask that new project:
1. What problem is this project solving?
2. What does the project coin mean for the ecosystem?
3. The process of coin distribution in the future?
4. Ask about the future of the project and their list plans?
I also see AMAs of new projects receive such questions in order to better understand the project.

The question I will ask the developer is,
1. the original idea for this project?
2. real use of the product that can be useful for life?
3. And from the funds collected, what percentage is allocated to pay for the listing exchange fee?
The last question in my opinion is quite important because many developers do not want to spend money to pay exchange fees listing so that in the end it only exists on small exchanges where even the trading volume is tiny.

Given how many funds were lost due to exploits of poor coding, I would like to get that out of the way first. It's dangerous enough if these developers are unknown/anonymous that's why you have to lessen the risk by asking if their codes are audited by a reliable third party. Of course you don't just take their word for it. Ask for proof and then verify.

There will be always some information on their Whitepaper but personally i prefer to ask it Directly, Here some question.
1. Advantage From Other Competitors? (Real Use case Example & Demo/MVP)
2. Tokenomics? (Distribution of Total Supply to Team, Community, Development, Advisor, Is there any Pre-minting?)
3. Total Fund obtained from Sale IEO, STO, ICO, etc. If there isn't any sale, where do you get the Fund for development? Is it from the developer's own pocket or from Private Investors ?
4. Total Raised Fund to be used for? If there is no Sale (Private Investor), what benefits do they get?
5. Long-term Planning, if there is a project with the same but better use case, can your team improvise and compete?

Why people need to use your coin or token over others?

Can you make sure it is not the copy of existing projects?

Will you keep involve with the development of the project even if you made failure in initial stage?

Also relating to the token distribution, I will ask if the token will be locked or not because some project go ahead to lock token for a certain time before releasing it, so I would ask to know the developers mind.

My second question is about the supply, if the project has a large supply, I will ask if it will be burnt.

1. ask whether they can prove their identity that's shown in their project whitepaper or not
2. ask whether they gonna spend some of money raised to add liquidity just to kick off the project
3. ask the developer themselves whether they've had some projects in the past that turns big or not
4. see how well they can handle the community and questions in their group
5. see how active the developments in their github acc

that's just pretty much what i'd see first from a new project

every developers will always be a complete stranger until they prove otherwise, you don't want to invest on projects just because the dev answered all your questions, they are still nothing but promises

It doesn't matter which question you ask, every developers can give promises but fulfilling the promises is where the real problem is, it's easier for devs to answer questions and give their projects rare use cases, still it doesn't mean the project will be successful

-what is the guarantee that they will support the project long term come what may?
-what is their contingency plan for the project should in case there is a need for it?
-and is there a probability that a rug-pull or exit scam will not occur? (meaning how well all team members can trust each other to give their whole to the success of the project)  8)

In my own appreciation, I will ask the developer a question like this?

1. Are you confident that your project will succeed?
2. How do you define your project compare to the other existing projects?
3. How you are going to implement your development goals written in the Whitepaper?
4. Is this project is back by something or just back by thin air?
5. On a scale of 1-10 Can you rate your project achievement so far?

Those were my top 5 questions that I want to ask.

Top 5, you say?
1. The common one. Since programmers & developers solve problems, what are the relevant problems these days that you want to solve?
2. Is this project for long-term like it isn't just a one-stop project that you'll stop updating after stable release? Even popular social media sites still undergo many updates just to solve every user's needs.
3. Is the project gonna be an open source? I am a programmer as well as web dev and I am quite enthusiastic about these, maybe not much in the blockchain.
4. Maybe not much in dev's identity, but can they prove that they had built projects in the past? How many repo or projects have you done in the past?
5. Since from developer to me is already like a developer to potential client relationship, how can you ensure yourself that if I invest in your project that there wouldn't be an exit scam happening or you wouldn't just disappear into thin air?  This would seem like a cliche question already but it is not something to be overlooked at.

It seems to me that there is no need to ask questions, everything should be clear from the characteristics and description provided by the creators of the project. You just need to study the project in which you are going to invest. To determine a promising cryptocurrency, first of all, you need to pay attention to its purpose, the development team, goals and stages of development, the number of updates and the availability of feedback.

All functions and tasks of the project should be simple and straightforward, even if the developers have incorporated very complex technologies into the project.
