Title: Weirdest bitcoin/altcoin project?
Post by: SillyWallet on March 10, 2021, 05:27:00 PM
Just trying to get through lockdown without going crazy, need some laughs. So, what is the weirdest bitcoin, altcoin or whatever coin or even blockchain project or idea you ever came across? Doesn't need to be succesful, just weird enough to make for a good story  :)

Edit: Looking at the question, I may belong in Off-Topic. Sorry, new here. Mods are free to move me if so desired, no grudges, mea culpa!

There was some occupy wall street coin that had a 25% demurrage over 30 days, and the coins were distributed between all users.

This means you lost 25% of the coins at your wallet each 30 days. Dont remember if they removed some coins each block that over 30 days would be 25%, of if each X blocks (enought to be 30 days) they removed 25% coins of everyone wallet.

Whats make this idea more stupid is that demurrage and monetary inflation creates subsistance economy, they reduce people power of influencing the market. With only very rich people being able to do it by saving and getting money, because they have companies that if the money value decrease by X they can just increase their price by X, they also have stocks that they can just also increase the price they will sell the stocks for by X and the same with gold and etc...

The Dentacoin thing is still one of the weirdest (a.k.a. crappiest) cryptocurrency ideas I've seen in the past. Apparently we need a separate currency and a blockchain for every other industry or something. And despite how crappy the concept is, it still gained traction in the 2017 bubble. December of 2017 was definitely a weird month.

Those fork coins that didn't thought of what they're going to name their coins and just simply put "bitcoin" at the first heading of their name.

And that is to make it look like a legit project and would be near to success.

There is also claimcoin that if you had at least more than 0 bitcoins at a wallet, or LTC at a wallet or a doge at day May 12th 2014, you can get 4.6 claim coins (per wallet that fit this condition), the idea here is to equally spread coins to everyone.

The problem is that one new coin is generated each block to be mined (average of 1 minute), so you get around 21.74% of the original everyone get, after mining just one block.

It would be better if it was 100% premined and it mined the transaction fees.

2020 and 2021 are years for DeFi tokens if don't mention about bitcoin. I saw shit altcoins were pumped in 2017 and 2018 but what has been going with DeFi hype makes me superb surprising.

It is not strange, only some people are too careless in evaluating it, the perfect generation blockchain today, Bitcoin, altcoin are investment assets of every human being in this universe.

If you are caused by losses that you do while doing things such as trading, that investment is a risk that you swallow, on the grounds that you do not understand, learn, it will lose you in controlling the way the blockchain travels to Bitcoin.

There are many things you can learn from Bitcoin, the blockchain here, for you to become a success in valuing the real Bitcoin, Experience is important to achieve your success.

There are many weird shitcoins available in the market and their list will keep on growing. I don't want to list any one of them among the thousands of shitcoins. What make me sad is that even though we know the coins are not worth investing, why people keep investing in those shitcoins and ignore the good coins ?  Perhaps they think that low marketcap coin can make them rich quickly  ???

One of the weirdest (dumbest) crypto tokens I've seen in the past is certainly UET.
Useless Ethereum Token is exactly what it seems - the first token that transparently offers investors absolutely nothing.

Even their website  (https://uetoken.com/)said: "You're going to give some random person on the internet money, and they're going to take it and go buy stuff with it. Probably electronics, to be honest. Maybe even a big-screen television. Seriously, don't buy these tokens."  :D

Now you mentioned it, this was the talk of the town on YoBit and ShitBTC chatboxes. Everyone was for rooting for that thing to moon.

December 2017 was re-enacted with DOGE too ;D
