Title: Time to sell my BTC?
Post by: Houdini76 on March 10, 2021, 06:59:48 PM
So I bought BTC at £9000, made a nice amount. Is it a good idea to now sell this and move that money into alt coins? or should I  sell half BTC and buy back in after alt season is finished?

What do you think?

If you like you can sell or even buy more, but bitcoin is a deflationary currency. I see bitcoin as a currency people should value than fiat and should also be saved for upspring and future generations because the price of bitcoin will later increase more and more higher than today. If you need money urgently, you can sell.

You are asking us? All answers you will get will be to keep holding. What was your plan when you bought? Since you obviously entered Bitcoin to make profit if you are asking when to sell. Without having a clear plan and targets set then you can consider yourself lucky to have made this kind of profit.

My plan was to hold, which I did, I may take some profit and use that for Alt season. I don't know about lucky - if you buy and hold then sell at the right time you make money.

Sell a little by little if you don't need much money.

You take the profit and you still keep some bitcoin in your possession. Until the price goes high, you rinse and repeat that strategy so every up, you get to sell bitcoin at good prices.

But it's best if you have left a portion for long term hold.

If you sell, any profit over £12300 incurs capital gains tax.

Alts usually follow bitcoin price.

Your choice if you dont still need some money then you can opt to hold but if you do like to diversify then you can do it but be sure on sticking with top altcoins in the market and never consider those low caps.

Able to bought when it was still on 9k was impressive because not all is really having the feeling on buying on that time since everyone was still on doubt and the call or buying was just actually right on the spot.

Time to sell your btc? It depends on your needs and your upheading plans because not all would really be having the same mindset when it comes to investment. If you do saw some opportunity
in alts then selling out some portion of profits isnt really actually a bad decision to make.

If you have lots of spare, enough budget for a year or more, I would say keep hodling for another year.

But if you really need it just now then that's okay to sell after all you gained much profit from it.

I think many suggest hodl or sell it if you need funds...
you have got a profit of 60% - 70% so the questions you ask are difficult to answer correctly. I personally follow the advice of the majority who say 'hodl if you don't need or sell if you need the money'.

It depends on the reason why you bought Bitcoin in the first place. If you bought it to double it’s value and you think it’s the right time to sell it then you can sell them now, but if you bought it because you see it’s potential or it could be of use to you or your future then hodl it. Because if I were in your shoes and I don’t think there is a need for me to withdraw it then I’d just have to hodl it a little more until I need the money.

So are you satisfied with your current profit? If so, then go ahead, take your profit and be happy. But, are you sure you invest your profits in altcoins? You do know that altcoins are very volatile, right? Those "altcoin season" might end anytime and if you don't exit quick, you will lose most of your profit.
I would instead suggest you to keep holding your bitcoin if you want to make decent profit in a less risky process. Still looking forward to invest in altcoins? Then invest in those that are well known. I would go for ETH.

Everyone has their own motives and plans for their reasons to enter Bitcoin.

While its nice to get other peoples ideas they/we cannot  predict the future but
there is a lot of talk about $100k and $200k realistic targets so bear that in mind.

Most of all, suit yourself and reward yourself if you feel you should, there is
no right or wrong.

Finally, forget Alt season, focus on Bitcoin Season(s)

that's £31k profit(a pretty good one) in the current price of BTC

if you ask me I am ready to withdraw it but it is your money but just like what bL4nkcode said if you have a spare budget and can still afford to hodl then why not but if you are uncomfortable with hodling any further in fear of losing profit, then go ahead withdraw or you can do what you said "withdraw the half then just buy back again". in the end it is your choice you should have confidence on what you decide.

You are asking for financial advice instead of having your own research.

If your profit was there, you can sell the half and turn back your initial capital. And ready your money for reinvestment when there is a correction again. But if you're asking me if you're selling your bitcoin and switching to altcoin, that is an extremely bad idea, there's no altcoin that gives a better potential that gives a good profit someday, mostly all altcoins were made now by the pump and dump and some are being manipulated by most known people.

Stick on bitcoin and wait until your profit was there.

Everyone has their plans with bitcoin and making a recommendation that can satisfy you I think is not possible. Most bitcoiners are looking to buy more bitcoin and hold. I plan to hold my bitcoin for the future of my 12 and 13 year old nephews.
Although if you want to sell any amount of your bitcoin for any altcoins that offers you some ROI, it is your will.
From what I see of the big investors is that they will not sell. They are buying more bitcoin every day in order to secure the future of bitcoin and their investments.

I believe that the BTC does not take long to collapse, maybe up to $ 13,000 dlls (L 9,330) , so I recommend selling and keeping that money until the bitcoin returns to an uptrend.

I believe that buying altcoins is not convenient, because most of them go up or down with bitcoin.

How much profit did you get now? If you think that your profit is enough already, well, you do the sell. I'm not going to say JUST HOLD it is because I don't know your situation but it is assuming that you are in profiting now since the price is moving high.

And if you are planning to invest in altcoins, just be sure that you are choosing those coins that really have a good market performance and high liquidity. But I suggest securing your funds to BTC while the excess money is for investing altcoins. Putting our investment into 2-3 different coins is really a good idea than having all of it in just a single coin.

Well, it depends on the situation. If it's possible to hodl, then it's better to wait until Bitcoin pumps again (I guarantee you, this will happen). If there is no chance to hodl, then sell it. But I'd rather invest more in Bitcoin than Altcoin.

Wow, you must be happy with this, holding it from the very low rate of Bitcoin.
If I were you, I will sell half of it, at least, I have had my fund back to me. ANd others are the profits and bonus for me for holding along this time. Taking profits for some of our coins sometimes is important in order not to regret it. Although we also feel sure that the BTC price may be increasing again. But for me, at least, I will secure some of them and hold some for the next Bullrun.

You make a sizable profit buying bitcoins when the price is low, but you don't say how many bitcoins you have so no one counts your profits.
If you have a lot of bitcoins and you need them, there is nothing wrong with selling half of your profits and you still have half of your profits and capital to save, to enjoy a bigger return later this year and if bitcoin is more profitable why switch to alt.

If you trust bitcoin you can just put it all still into it and hold it for long term. But it all depends on your decision. While it is still good to diversify your coin like selling half part of your btc and buy some potential altcoins, whatever your actions, yhe best thing is to manage them well and not too greedy if you reach your goal profit.

Since you already made some profit from that then you can just use your profit to widen your investment.

If you are already satisfied with your gained and you need the money, selling your assets

is not bad, but if you are aiming for more and you are only using spare money, you can simply

keep it and store it from a safe wallet. As the value of Bitcoin may go up much higher, in the end

it will depends from how you see it as owner, you are the only one who can decide for it. take your

call according to your own assessments.

Sell it if you are satisfied with the increase in price. I see you have made a profit from buying btc, but according to the current situation the market is showing new growth, I think bitcoin will soon surpass the 60k 70k....

As long as you are satisfied with your profit then you may sell anytime.

At your current position, £9000 is around 12540.56 and right now you are sitting at a x4 profit :). Right now, there is no signs that the bull market that we are seeing right now will come to an end. We may see corrections but that is just a small ones and its normal for it to happen but I don't see this bull run coming to an end anytime soon and knowing that there are some major news that are coming along the way this year like the Paypal accepting payments to merchants, these institutions slowly accumulating BTC etc, the bull run might stay for quite some time or best throughout 2021.

Now regarding to your question, if I'm on your situation I will sell a portion of it ONLY if I need to buy something like in your case altcoins. That might be a good choice but just beware. Overall, congrats to your profits :).

If you have enough for Bitcoin then why not ?its yours so you are the one to decide what to do . But if you still trust Bitcoin that can reach 65,000$ this year then better stay them all on your wallet.
But if you have found a good altcoin and specially if those are Gems? then better to sell half of your bitcoin and maintain the other half for long term holding , I believe that the run is not yet over and there is more to come just trust and keep the faith.
because if you don't know which altcoin is best to transfer then why consider that action?
We can find more profit in this coin most specially if you are not in a need of funds so staying inside Bitcoin is the safest place and the profitable investments.

Why do you want to buy altcoins? Many do so because they are thinking on getting even more profits than what they get with bitcoin but this is not what happens most of the time, why risk losing your money when you are already invested not only in the best coin in the market but in the best performing asset of the last 10 years? It seems like a waste of time and money especially when it seems the bitcoin market is once again gaining momentum.

Just hold your coins and if you have a spare amount of money then you should try to invest on other crypto.

There are a lot of opportunities in cryptocurrency and making the most of it is really profitable also if you handled it properly.

Time to sell BTC? It is hard to say it because all i know is that bitcoin's price will soon reach $100,000 and if that happens, that's still not enough to sell it.

From 12k huh. I use mainly USD as my basis in checking in how much I earned already even though my local currency is PHP.
That's quite a profit already, OP.
It's more than 30k already, but from how BTC seems to move right now, it casts that hodl spell into you right now so I suggest looking critically in the price for now.
However if you really need some money, I wouldn't suggest hodling further for obvious reasons.

don't be a greedy person you have already enough profit , from 9k you already earned multiple times so why hesitate to sell and Buy altcoins?
Check binance, litecoin and Polkadots , these 3 are the most promising and may take the rank 2 position from Ethereum as the continues High fee of this second highest coin is changing the views of investors and losing their faith.
Just make sure that you will not feel bitter once the value rise up more from your selling point because at many chances this happens again ang again and seller has nothing to do but cry.

If you feel like you already had a big profit margin then I think that you need to consider selling, waiting for the right time will end up with you not knowing to stop hodling and not reaping the benefits of your investment in bitcoin, again only if you feel like selling then sell it. Other thing to consider is that do you really need the money for your daily expenses because if not then you might have no use for it for awhile and you might have grown it more if you didn't sell it.

I think you can sell from a small amount of bitcoin and hold the rest until the price can reach the next higher price. But I don't think that using the money to buy the altcoin will be a good idea since many altcoins already increase. Perhaps, you need to wait for a while until the altcoins price gets a correction so that you can buy it at a low price. The altcoin season still happens, and I guess that the altcoin season will continue this year, and the bitcoin price will increase more than the price now. But selling your bitcoin now is a great idea since you are making a big profit from bitcoin. Or you can use that money to buy back bitcoin when the price is down and sell it again when the price reaches a high price.

My plan was to hold, which I did, I may take some profit and use that for Alt season. I don't know about lucky - if you buy and hold then sell at the right time you make money.

Holding a large percentage in bitcoin will help you when things go wrong. If you take all your profit and put it in altcoins you should know the risks involved. I am investing in altcoins but in a way that this won't be harmful to my total investment in this market. Any altcoin investment can easily go down 90%. Bitcoin when it reaches the top it can go down 80% but probably no more, unless it becomes completely useless. What I would do in your position is to take half out in cash. As I understand this, you entered to make more money, as everyone else. If you believe that cryptocurrencies will have a future, then you should hold your initial investment in it for longer. However, since the profit you've made is 4000% taking some back will mean you were successful with this trade.
By saying you got lucky, I meant that you entered the right time but not having a plan usually means trouble. You had the ability to see an opportunity that was there, but this is just half of it. The rest is making a plan and sticking to it.

But if OP doesn't have a clear time frame for what is long-term for him/her investment that could mean that OP might do something dumb that might destroy his/her possible big profit. My advice to OP is to make sure that you are in need of money for your daily life because you might miss out on a big jump and lose the chance to get more out of your bitcoin.

The cryptocurrency market is becoming more and more popular and bitcoin is harder and harder to earn, I think in the future the price of bitcoin can continue to soar.

That would be a great way to spread your investments. Nobody can really say on when the Alternate Season begun or even finished but having the idea on investing on different Cryptocurrencies is still a safe way to do but there will be risk that you need to keep in mind like when all of those investments crash down, will you have a back up plan? If you think that you can take that risk and you will be always alert on watching their values as time passes by.

Mark place price any time to changen. So time is important for this process. Before investing the market place check the price day by day. Then invest it. Time to check the coin price. So time to buy and sell the coin on time. If price will be low that time hold and buy the coin then wait for the price increase. If price will be increased that time you sell it. So time to acct.

It's not about trust though. It's about belief. You have nothing to trust in Bitcoin except its code. And that may have little to do with the market price in the short term. I doubt most users and even less for buyers that they actually understand how precious and valuable Bitcoin's code is.

But if you belief that people will understand this more and more, then you know Bitcoin can only be valued more and more.

No one will give you the right advice. Since you, yourself already know the answer, and only want to hear it from someone else. There are many answers, and there are many who advise keeping bitcoin. This is what most say because everyone understands the value of bitcoin. If you trust alternative coins, then this is more difficult. Look at how they rise along with bitcoin and fall in the same way. Everyone has different strategies, if you are confident in your actions, sell and buy alts. Only how do you know when the season begins and ends for sure?  :)

if you bought btc on that amount meaning you have been hodling your btc for a long time now ask your self are you not tired and are you happy with that ? if that is mine btc i will definetly sell out now to take a breathe but the popular strategy that many are using is that they dont sell all btc they have and then they buy btc in addition to what they left . you can copy that if you want to  , you can move some of that profit in altcoins and you dont need to wait for the bull season to finish because that can take you a long time of waiting .

Don't sell if it's not really for rush, just choose to hold it longer instead of quickly dumping for good. Day trading can be better when you see market has an ongoing pumps, buy when it goes down slightly then sell when it goes up. That's how you do it, but always have the 50% portion of asset remains in your wallet for long term investments.

Bitcoin is any time to changing the price wait and check the marketplace price. Before sell the bitcoin check the market price. Then place to sell. Bitcoin is time to change day by day. So wait and hold the bitcoin long time. If try sell the bitcoin check the price in the marketplace. The time to sell it. So plan to work out. Everyday follow the market price.

So I bought BTC at £9000, made a nice amount. Is it a good idea to now sell this and move that money into alt coins? or should I  sell half BTC and buy back in after alt season is finished?

What do you think?

I personally would keep most of the coins if I do not need these funds at this time.

I would sell 20% and buy altcoins with them. In my opinion, the market expects an even bigger rise this year and accordingly you will be able to earn more money also from the altcoins in which you invest with this 20%.

IMO as long as you are in profit you can sell off your bitcoin if you are tired of hodling, I just hope you don't regret this decision some years after now, just like those people who dumped bitcoin during those early stages when the price was less than even ~$0.30, also dumping bitcoin for an altcoin project is very risky don't forget altcoins follow bitcoin price movements, instead of buying an altcoin with  your profit from bitcoin, why not just hold your bitcoin rather than selling it  :-X.

I've started holding since Bitcoin reached the $27k mark and I'm pretty satisfied so far. Sure, I had some temptation to sell it with each new ATH but I don't need this money urgently right now so I would rather keep on holding than selling it. If I were you, I would stay on holding as long as I can.

The decision to sell or keep the BTC is of personal preference and varies on different factors. You can always find the middle ground, sell to cover the cost of the initial investment, and leave the rest for some time, and by some time I'm talking about 10+ years, just to see what can happen. It's hard to imagine that the vačue would drop to an amount that would be insignificant and, honestly, I can only see it going up, or, in the worst-case scenario, remaining at this current price with slight corrections, but being more table at the end.

I don't consider selling at these times if I don't need it yet or if I still have money left I will just stick on holding it. But if I have some business in my mind or have something to use it for it's still fine to sell knowing that I'm still on profit. However, I will still choose to left some in my wallet since there might be more companies who will adopt crypto and bitcoin that can cause it's price increase again, would prefer to hold and just use those in reasonable reason like retirement.

It's not about trust though. It's about belief. You have nothing to trust in Bitcoin except its code. And that may have little to do with the market price in the short term.
That's right. Trust and belief can at times do nothing if the market is not aligned with these beliefs. I think to determine holding vs selling you need to look a little beyond what you feel and more on what the market is telling you.

It is good to believe in something but with crypto unless you're holding long-term the belief has to be at the right time or you might miss the change to sell high and buy low.

Do you have any other plan for your crypto or money?
If none and you don't want to keep on monitoring it you should just keep it on BTC.
But if you have a lot of time and could keep track then try to trade to earn more profit.
But if I am on your position I would just keep it and convert some into fiat since it already gain profit.

Don't  sell btc yet! There seems not to be any strong resisitance holding a bullish movement, the price of BtC might hit 60k and even exceed it since its still on a price discovery trail. although a technical analysis will give prospective resistance point based on trend line but then do not give it up yet.

If you're going to sell bitcoin to buy some altcoins then IMO its not a good idea. Since most alts are also expensive at this time and not a right timing to engage yourself unless if you're buying new coins, not establish yet but has a cheap price.

Better to keep holding if you're not really in need of money. Nevertheless the decision is still up to you because we know whats best for our coins, just analyze and think what can benefited you more.

You are lucky to be able to buy a certain amount of Bitcoin when the price is still at $ 9000. With the Bitcoin price now at $ 57k, very natural for you
to make the decision to sell your Bitcoin. But in my opinion, don't sell the Bitcoin that you have entirely, because Bitcoin still has the potential to go up
even higher. My advice is that your Bitcoin can be sold for about 30%, and you can buy a few altcoins. I think the very good altcoins to buy right now
are ETH, BNB and ADA.

Psychologically, it is very difficult to sell your coins when the prices are moving up. The human nature is to wait for more and more profits. I have been to cryptocurrency sector for more than 7 years now, and still it is very difficult for me to get around this behavior. So I can understand the hesitation from the part of the new users. Both BNB and ADA looks attractive right now. IMO, they represent the future of cryptocurrency. But I am not very excited with ETH in its current form. There are various issues plaguing ETH, and the developers are not interested in resolving them.

I don't want to recommend selling it, but being able to redistribute the numbers and move on to other altcoins is a very good idea at this point. The remaining 50% of bitcoin is available to use that money to buy altcoins and leave a balance of 10% of the stablecoin waiting to buy other discounted things.

A few altcoins that I think will have strong growth, like LTC, XRP, NEO, you can take it.

Every suggestion and advice we have to be able to pick which ones can be taken for ourselves because choosing coins is difficult with the exception of bitcoins which are widely recommended. Altcoins as an alternative coin are indeed now a lot of choices, but sometimes we always take the wrong steps with full risk, I personally certainly have my own way of making decisions about which altcoins to buy and sell because indeed if we compare them with others then still not. will be the same.
It is difficult to determine when the seasons will come and end.

Depends on your targeted income buddy, regardless how small or big your income will be, profit is profit. However given the status of the market today, pretty sure that the price soaring up high or to the moon they say, won't be impossible at all. In case that its not your main source of income, holding will be the best option here.

I agree to this user. Because in holding btc you must decide wether you are a long term or short term holder in order to have a clear and very organized experience. But in the case of bitcoin, I can say that it is not the ATH at this time. It will have a better and good profit in the next few days. Bitcoin will definitely have a new ATH. Many people will start to become rich because of the long term holders. And at the same time, many people for long term hold because they've been in the middle and might gey lost. Basic idea of bitcoin is definitely Buy in Low and Sell High.

It would be better if you will just sell half of your bitcoin so that when the price pump up you can sell again another high amount of bitcoin. The other half you can use it to buy altcoins so that when the altcoin season comes you will gain a huge profit or in case you will be able to buy back again on buying other coins or maybe bitcoin, but today that I am seeing the price of the bitcoin right now I would probably say that it would be good to just hold again your bitcoin because there's a huge possibility that the price of bitcoin will make a new ath again so it would be better to hold it for a long-term investment.

Bitcoin price is now so high and damn good position. In my personal opinion you can sell half of your Bitcoin for buying other good Altcoins. But after buying Altcoins you must research on them. Choose good and potential altcoins. If you have enough knowledge about Altcoins then selling half of your Bitcoin is good idea for you. If you haven't enough idea about Altcoins then hold your Bitcoin if you don't need money. Hope bitcoin price will increase more.

Well, if you don't need the money and you can still hold, --I say no.
Bitcoin is on the road to $100k as I have read so many prediction articles. It will perhaps follow the price of bitcoin all altcoin as we expected and there is no reason we will switch to the altcoins since all altcoins are very risky to invest in. The truly decentralized coin now is bitcoin that doesn't have manipulation by the team or any of the pump and dump group. So there is no doubt to bitcoin will have another ATH by end of this year.

This is a difficult question to answer as it will turn to financial advice. If the purpose is for-profit and not in any financial stress, you can hold for another year and see the fortune. Alts can make you earn more profits or get less than your BTC holding, it is not a game of luck but a market reaction to BTC movement

Yes, everyone has their choice.  For those who feel that they have reached the expected profit point, they can now sell their BTC and buy it back at the expected price as well.  However, for those who are still buying at a high enough price I don't think it's the right time to sell it right now because I really believe BTC has a very bright future for now and the price will still continue to rise.  So the choice is back to the owner.  I'm not suggesting financial advice just expressing my opinion.

I guess many people there who bought bitcoin same like you, but they will sell their bitcoin when its price touched $20.000 as previous all time high and they will buy again when $20.000 already broken. Now that the decision is yours, take the profit and enjoy it if you want to sell it. But if you believe that the bitcoin price will hit $100K, then I believe the choice is hold. I don't think you need to sell some of your bitcoin to buy altcoin because at the same time you can still make a profit due to the increase in the price of bitcoin. If the price of bitcoin goes down, then usually the price of the altcoin goes down too. But if you believe that altcoin are the right choice right now to maximize profit, then sell all your bitcoinsand start with altcoin. No advice is right for you at this point in time other than your own decision.

To put it simply, sell when you are profitable or you have a target price you want to achieve. There is no limit to what price you have to sell your BTC.
You can sell it and buy it again if the price starts to fall.
Selling to secure your capital is also workable and it is a few safe ways.

Why would wait for 100k if you can sell it off at this moment to materialize the profits in a short time basis and then buyback later on when the price had corrected?
We cant really resist in not to do so knowing that we've been playing around 50k price on this week or last week as far as i remember and now we are in 60k
which means its a profit for your side and its not bad to consider on making such step and profit out instead of hodling.Well, this is a matter of choice though

I personally would keep the Bitcoins I have, the market continues to rise and we are early from a long-lasting bear market. Or a long-term correction can be obtained at a cost of $ 100,000.

If you want to invest in Altcoins and have no other funds, it may be a good idea to use 20% to 30% of your Bitcoins and keep the rest. But I personally wouldn't sell half of my Bitcoins now.

Bitcoin struggled past the $ 61k resistance price, several times trying to get past the $ 61k price tag but always failed.  There may be a correction
to the support price at $ 57k. So now is the right time to sell Bitcoin. But don't sell all the Bitcoin we have, just in case the Bitcoin price manages
to rise above $ 61k. We still have to monitor Bitcoin's current movement, because there are many possibilities that could happen. If you want to
buy altcoins, you should buy BNB, because the performance for the past few days is quite good and the price might go back up to ATH price.

It's your wish, You bought Bitcoin at deep and want to sell at top, if you don't care about 100K rally then you can sell, But in my opinion why you sell your Bitcoin if you don't need to sell it. there are many hodler who hodl Bitcoin during the years but didn't sell  a penny cause they don't need to sell it they have money in real life and they invested in Bitcoin for securing their future. If you bought a land you will never sell that until you don't need to sell cause you know that land will secure your future life. So if you need money then you cn sell a little portion of your investment and hodl the rest of BTC.

Selling BTC is a matter of comfort and it varies per individual.  There isn't any such time to sell. You sell when you have a reason to and not just because you felt you've made profit. The reason for a sale could be very possibly that you've made profit but, is it the best?
Well, selling with the idea of buying when it falls is a good idea but, its only good as much as you know or is able to determine whe  the market has actually hit a low.

But importantly,  bitcoin is not a currency you just sell. It appreciates with time so, its best to be patient with it. But, the issue of selling is always up to you to find the best time that suits your own purpose or need as at that time.

^ That is definitely a good question if you don't need it, then there is no reason for your to sell your BTC, each of us has a different insight about selling our BTC, that is fine to sell anytime as long as your profit was there and do not sell when the price is low upon you purchased it. But if you do not need cash, keep holding and wait for a better opportunity, as we witnessed, BTC was boosting too much the price this year, it will always have a surprise of having a new ATH after a month passed. Nevertheless, think twice that you can not able to jump again when the BTC price is too expensive.

it is okay to sell bitcoin these days. but I suggest selling 30% of your total assets, because I think you can use your other assets to be used to get bigger profits.

I agree with your way of thinking but if bitcoin is held because of the results in 2018 not because buying when it starts to increase, of course it will be different again. reasonable because it has made a profit so that it can be sold with the best possible purpose for what you will do.

now we know bitcoin continues to increase so it would be a shame if you have to sell all of it because the increase is still ongoing and we don't know how long, but it is estimated that until the end of the year it can be concluded how much bitcoin will be worth, of course you will lose if everything is released at this time.

It is just so up to you if you are willing to sell some if your Bitcoin just to do diversification of your funds into other altcoins that you think have potential. Bitcoin is not just the only crypto that is valuable so it is still a good decision if you will be wanting to sell some of it for the sake of turning some of your funds into the altcoin section. It is a way of somehow maximizing your earning capabilities in this vast industry of crypto for it do really make sense since your aim is still to earn. Exploring other wonders of cryptocurrency is just fine as long as you are making a good choice of where you will be putting your money aside from Bitcoin.

I am not longer holding bitcoin and always take short term to buy or sell bitcoin, if have chance for selling bitcoin on higher price like yesterday I will sell my bitcoin, but keep buy back when bitcoin going down. I think is better every time my earning increase and I could use for another investment and could get profit again, if keep holding on bitcoin only maybe I have been more patient waiting when bitcoin really touch higher price.

of course, this approach to controlling your assets is very correct. If it is not possible to receive dividends from his asset, then he must work for himself. It is the difference in price that makes this possible, but only the user always needs to control the market, because in the cryptocurrency market everything always happens very unexpectedly. But nevertheless, by locking in your profits in the bull markets, you will be able to make constant profits when the rate changes.

If you feel that you have lost an asset because you have sold at the lowest price and bought at a high price, my advice is to do Cutloss to minimize losses.
I think the current price hasn't reached its highest value yet, there are still other high prices. For that, always use the long-term method by putting some of the assets you have.

So I bought BTC at £9000, made a nice amount. Is it a good idea to now sell this and move that money into alt coins? or should I  sell half BTC and buy back in after alt season is finished?

What do you think?

You can sell some amount of it for securing your profit or you can wait more and observe the movements of the price closely. And when it starts dropping at a high pace, you can sell it to prevent yourself from going into the red. It is actually not a thing for me or any other people to give an advice as you should decide by yourself.  ;D

Seeing how bitcoin has remained in the bull nature for this lengthy period, i can only but say that you hold. People are expecting the price of bitcoin to drop to a 39k level but that is just limited to technical analysis which can be over driven by fundamental analysis. just hold.

So I bought BTC at £9000, made a nice amount. Is it a good idea to now sell this and move that money into alt coins? or should I  sell half BTC and buy back in after alt season is finished?

It's already a huge profit, so you could sell your bitcoin already it doesn't matter since you could always reinvest that money when the price of bitcoin dump in the future or when the bull run ends. It's difficult for a lot of investors to sell at the peak of the bull run of the bitcoin and only a few percent of investors actually do that. Maybe selling by portion could be a good thing maybe 15% every time the market price continues to pump also so could always earn a profit because you already made a good profit by holding for a long time actually. You could hold for a bit just decide on an exit strategy because for sure there will be a dump for sure or else plan to sell it on a higher price value around 200k$.

That's sad if you're no longer holding bitcoin. Well, you have the point about selling and making profit and being short-term on it. But it's best if you can have yourself a favor for being long-term on it.
But if the problem is about being patient then choose what you prefer and works better and you've done that already.

all humans are not immune from the mistakes they make, so it is not true that they don't need advice. just a suggestion is fine even though later it is himself who will decide whether to do it or not.

Your suggestion to observe the movements carefully is the right thing and needs to be done, because it could be that the decline continues not to be hindered, so you can take actions to stem so that there is no loss that becomes even greater.

but seeing the trend of bitcoin so far, there shouldn't be excessive fear, because bitcoin has always been doing this from last year. bitcoin will continue to increase until the end of the year. If you get bitcoin results from 2018 you should let some of it go because you have made a big profit and don't be too greedy because it could be detrimental.

Depends, what is your goal? $60k ? $100k? or maybe $1million.

Always set your own target, so you will not lose ur opportunity to sell.

When i decided to invest on something, i always set my own target so even the price rise after i sell i will not regret it.

I suggest not doing it if you can able to hold it and if you believe that Bitcoin will move high again. Instead of selling it at loss, much better to buy more, it is a way of early recovery.

But if we are short-term holders, we'd rather have to grab every high opportunity to sell and buy back again once it dumps.
OP is already in the profit and the decision is good, and I do the same if I'm in his position.

I agree with your strategy, I also implement things like that. do it when you get profit and buy when it goes down. This kind of thing is classic but minimizes the risk of loss, so instead of holding long term but getting a price trap it's better short term but running all the time

That's only logical because selling them would be profit and if that is what you see fit, then I commend you for being brave on selling them because most of the users right now wanted to stock up on their Cryptocurrencies because they are waiting for another ATH. Buying them at their dips is somewhat risky because we are not really sure if that dip is the most efficient time to stock up on Crypto's so buying them would depend on your gut feeling.

An answer to the current market situation and the price development is not possible with certainty. If you want to sell Bitcoin, you have to gain experience and over time you will find that the price of the Internet currency changes sharply again and again. That is why you have to ask yourself the question "Sell or hold Bitcoin?"

- I know that bitcoin can go further each year but that is not as important as your goal, you are here to make money, if you don't sell your bitcoin, your money is virtual currency and has no service for your life. However, selling it all at one point is never the right decision, the opportunity in bitcoin is like a lottery game, we are forced to split bitcoin for sale at peak times and spend the rest betting on further futures, maybe it's a bit risky or it's a bit of regret but it's still better than being stubborn in a choice when the choices are always very risky.

i am crypto optimist and believe (as many analysis show and most people predict) BTC will grow in 6-digit price later this year or in the beginning of 2022 and will probably (most likely be) anywhere between 200-500K in the next cycle.
however i am not greedy and know very well that there is a realistic percentage (1-2-5% who know) that things turn in the wrong direction. i mean no interest in bitcoin, many goverments ban etc. in this case it will be worth nothing and you will have something with no value. you will have nothing while some months or years ago you have had a fortune. so i decided back in 2017 during past ATH that I would hold my coins and sell it all when price hits 100 K or close to this level. that's my limit. later on if price follows past halvings patterns I will buy back at dip approximately same amount of BTC i have now. I appreciate all your optimism and truly share it...however keep in mind nothing in life is sure and eternal. so don't let the greed spoil your life and future and please put yourself a personal limit.

It depends on the goal of the traders whether if its long term or short term. But you are right about your statement above. You can't have profit unless you convert or take your profit in BTC. This is the common mistake of traders, They are becoming greedy when price is rising then FOMO when they sold which is the reason why most of traders never sold in profit.

I think the same like your opinion better selling bitcoin now because have raise all time high now and looking with other opportunity like buy altcoin or move investment assets with altcoin have lower price, bitcoin maybe have higher price now and never get moment break more to higher price, so bigger chance to get profit on altcoin if I were you I sell bitcoin and buy back altcoin for future holding.

You have already made a huge profit, but it still seems to me like the market still has a long way to go, since it broke a new ATH level of $60,000, although that’s not enough reason for you to not sell, as long as you feel you have reached your target and even surpassed that, then you’re good to go and can sell at anytime.

As for investing the money in altcoins, I don’t really know about that, are you sure that altcoins are good choice to make now? I do have altcoins, Stellar and Ethereum. I bought 4 ETHs around the price of $180 for each and I haven’t thought about buying Ethereum again since then and I’m still holding just the ones I have bought back then, the price is now more than ten times. It’s always best to buy altcoins at the time they are low, I don’t know if there will be another altcoins season this year or next, apart from the one we have seen so far. But anyway, there might be.

I think at that buying price you already make a huge profit, at some point you need to sell your investment, I mean practically or your investors you know that it could go down, and you could easily buy back bitcoin when the price drops again in the market.

But I guess it's kinda different these days since according to some charts only whales are accumulating more and more bitcoin, and only fewer people are actually accumulating or have a low volume of bitcoin. So I guess it's kinda scary because that just means that there will be more manipulations in the market price of bitcoin in the future if its continues, so I guess it would make sense to hold your bitcoin and just aim for a higher market value somewhere around 200k-1m$.

You could always buy buyback your bitcoin when it drops, but it's necessary to make some profit or sell because its a risky investment and we know how the market works, we don't know if bitcoin still exists after 5years so it's better to make some profit as soon as you can.

If you don't need to sell it then why you will sell it? suppose you have a good home for living with your family, would you like to sell it for no reason? as like as Bitcoin is your investment, your asset, so you can sell it when you really need to sell. otherwise, it makes no sense to sell a valuable asset while the price is continuously growing. If you have other earning sources to manage your daily necessity cost then it is better to buy Bitcoin more cause BTC will break 90K soon.

LOL That's what people were saying at 30 thousand and then at 40 thousand and then at 50 thousand...

I'd never sell my bitcoins to buy altcoins like OP is planning. It's a really stupid and risky idea because altcoins will not go up on their own. They will keep pumping as long as Bitcoin stays high or pumps as well.

If you choose to sell bitcoin to buy altcoins you're betting on Bitcoin staying in this 50-60 thousand area. If it goes up, you will make money regardless of whether you choose BTC, ETH, or something else like ADA. If Bitcoin goes down you will lose more money holding an altcoin.

I think it's not a bad idea to move half of the bitcoins into altcoins now... The main thing is to have time to sell both bitcoins and altcoins in order to buy bitcoins again later! I'm sure that after this run it will be bearish season again like in 2018...

It is a good idea only if you want to get ruined financially. Many of the altcoins have gone up quite a lot during the last few months and some of them are looking overpriced. Ethereum in particular is facing a lot of issues due to high transaction/gas fee and delays in implementing ETH 2.0. Some of the alts such as LTC and BCH are facing a decline in trade volumes and acceptability. For now, I would rather stick with BTC rather than venturing in to any of the alts.

There is no specific value that people will say to you if this would be the best time to sell BTC because it depends on your decision if you are contented with the profit you have already.

I also want to congratulate you for buying bitcoin when the value of it is not that too much high as it has right now, that is already an achievement.

So I bought BTC at £9000, made a nice amount. Is it a good idea to now sell this and move that money into alt coins? or should I  sell half BTC and buy back in after alt season is finished?

What do you think?

Very high probability BTC will hit $100-500k this year and 1 million 4 years from now...

Just the idea of selling now seems monstrously silly..

Elon Musk is about to buy another $10 billion.

What do you think?

It depends on you mate,if you badly need it then you can sell a bit and leave something to hold as bitcoins price keep on rising ,we all want here is to profit and if you sell half of it I think it's ok as long as this came from what you gain from your investments your ROI.

Selling half of your BTC is also a good idea since you already gained the profit from your initial capital. Joining or investing on Alternate Cryptocurrencies can make you more versatile within the Cryptocurrency Industry and that move is also another way to involve yourself into a wide variety of Cryptos.

If you also need the money to buy some necessities, it is not a bad thing to convert it to cash since you already gained the profit that you need and I also like the idea of HODLing it if you really dont plan to do anything about it.

certainly not the best solution if you are going to sell bitcoin at this time because obviously it will certainly harm you because bitcoin will clearly increase again this year, even it is estimated until the end of the year. of course you can conclude what price bitcoin will receive while ATH $ 61,711.87 - Mar 13, 2021, obviously it will be fantastic but at what price it is unpredictable.

if true @elonmusk will buy again this will make many companies and brokers compete to also buy into an investment which will increase the price of bitcoin beyond estimates. it could even be faster than the end of last year which could be around $ 7K-S8K in an hour, which would stimulate short-term investment.

I think if you are not in urgent need of money, you can keep this part of Bitcoin. It seems that the upside of Bitcoin is still very high. It is not too late for you to wait and see for a while before making a decision, or you can sell part of your investment less Other currencies, but if I own Bitcoin, I will choose to hold it for a long time.

You bought your BTC at a good price. Imagine holders who had bought cheaper BTC than yours and who are still holding. It depends on you because each of us has to set our own selling point, I sold mine when it was at $35,000 and I don't have any regrets since I reinvested it in altcoins.

Well, you should try to weigh your options. Because if you don't need the money now then you might as well wait for another ATH for Bitcoin. Maybe wait until Bitcoin reaches 100k. Then you might as well try to sell only what you need. If you bought many amounts then it is a good thing to sell a little amount to get a bit of profit. But still no need to ask us because it is all over you. I will leave mine until Bitcoin reaches a good amount and then I'll buy me a business.

Have been satisfied enough with the profit you get or you wanted more? Obviously, you are the one who could decide that but I have to say something to you that sometimes greediness gives a negative result and that might leads you to miss the chance. Selling Bitcoin for altcoins isn't really a good idea but if you just choose altcoins that could give assurance for a profit, well, that might be put into consideration.

I sold out at more early stage, around ~$25,000 but I've sold nothing for over a month. Only scared of another miss. I'm still not feeling good about BTC, seems like losing momentum. Just curious to know what will you do at this stage? Are you waiting for a breakout or below these levels on BTC?

Your call as it's still decent when you decide to sell your holdings, The market is really tough to predict but as long as you have
profits it's still counts as good trade.

You need to understand what you are doing all else, you will end up opening another thread one day calling bitcoin a ponzi scheme. If you are on it for a quick profit, I bet you enjoy this now until it last. I will only advise you to take bitcoin investment just like your bank investment. Always invest for a long time and do not put all your  eggs in one basket

Invest what you can afford to lose, and always sets your expectations as the market is very volatile, when you already see

your good fortune then it's better to sell and enjoy. But if you have other things in mind make sure to handle the risk.

don't ever sell your Bitcoin, because in my opinion Bitcoin is a good investment to be used as a long-term investment, so instead of selling your Bitcoin, I would recommend you to still HOLD your Bitcoin, because I believe if many companies are already using Bitcoin for payments, then of course the price of Bitcoin will definitely increase higher than the current price and in the future Bitcoin will definitely be more valuable than Gold.

Investing in random alternative currencies will not bring versatility but high risk. From the way i look at the market situation right now, all the major alt coins have rallied a lot and even the potential ones are trading at their all time high barring a few coins and you cannot sell your bitcoin and then invest in those expecting it to rally further  :P.

I'm sort of battling the opposite, after a couple of years my significant other is finally understanding bitcoin and why we all believe in it.

We have come into about 35k of liquid cash and she tells me today she wants to dump it into bitcoin, as someone who has seen the rise and falls over the year, you can imagine the happy/sad feelings.

The idea of buying btc at near ATH prices kills me. I know longterm no matter what it will most likely work out but am I crazy to try and hold off until bitcoin possibly dipping back down under 20k? Wishful thinking?

Clearly whatever I do, the market will trend the opposite.  :P

Well it depends on your conviction, is it right timing? or do you need to hold it for quite sometime?...for further profit,  its too risky but if you're sure about your decision its ok anyway you're the one who benefit it first. Just make sure you know you're in right platform to trade it to ensure or double your money.
Not exactly conviction but the willingness because if you are not willing to sell it then you don't have the conviction to do it. I suggest that weighing the risks and benefits when you sell at the current price point with you getting a lot of profit when you sell it right now as one of the benefits or in the risk part, you might be selling at the bottom of a possible peak in prices, don't be greedy.

I would sell half of my BTC for USD/USDT and wouldn't touch it for now, with the other half you can buy 50% some quality altcoins which you believe in and keep the other 50% in BTC and see what happens and take your chance as bullrun most probably isn't even close to over yet, but you should always take some profits while you can so that you don't get out of your trade/investment with a loss at least.

If you want to buy altcoins, be fully diversified into 4-5 different projects with different use cases, for example do not buy/invest in 5 DeFi projects and think you're safe now, since usually every new hype whether it's DeFi, NFT or whatever else has to correct at some point and you don't want to be all in one of them when/if that happens.

Half is quite big already to be honest if one sold that out of the whole portfolio. It would depend if the OP still has other investment aside from Bitcoin, but if it is only Bitcoin I wouldn't sell by half maybe in alts I would because dumps and losing value are quite common phenomenon when it comes to following BTC price.

Depending on how much OP has in his/her capital, the 4-5 investment could be quite big already.

Selling BTC at £ 50000 is a good idea when you've bought them for a very good price of around £ 9,000. Take profit is important in any trade and I am confident that everyone will have to take profits to control risk. Bitcoin may go up even higher, but in terms of the rate of return now to the next, it is no longer attractive because they need a large amount of money to buy to increase in price.
You can either wait to buy bitcoins at a lower price or choose any other crypto that is good enough to hold and deliver better returns.

If you are a long time hodler then it is not the perfect time to get out from market, Everyone is determined and assumed that Bitcoin's price3 will go 100K during this year.
So, only short time trader can convert their Bitcoin now to buy at deep. Already you have bought at much deeper place, so you can hold your coin until the price will break 100K price zone.

Yeah.. this is like the worst advise at this point. Rather than "doubling" your money, you will most probably end up losing all of your capital. What happened to XRP is just a trailer of things to come. In the coming months was can expect more and more altcoins to go down, similar to Ripple. It is really up to you if you want to sell half of it to invest on some altcoins. We can't just shill an altcoin to invest then blame us when you lose money from it. If you plan to buy some altcoins, you should research for it yourself and analyze if it's a really good project. Each of us has different point of view, like me personally since I like gaming, I invested on those projects so I can monitor it properly without forcing myself just because of high return.

I think you can invest in Bitcoin for a long time. Selling is not a good choice, but you can also sell a small portion to invest in other alternative currencies. However, in the long run, holding Bitcoin for a long time has a lot of room for appreciation. , I’ll just cite examples myself. I have invested in some cryptocurrencies that I’m more optimistic about, but if I have Bitcoin, I will not use Bitcoin funds to buy other cryptocurrencies.

Everyone have thier own point of view in terms of investment,

Choosing another project is another thing once OP decides to sell and divert his earnings,
though that's really a nice way but also knowing what are the risk beyond is very important,
with the volatile market best to keep yourself engaged with project that you already entrust your fate.

That's what I'm saying, knowing what to hold is very important.
If you believe that Bitcoin is not done yet then holding is also a good choise, continue to work with
much deeper knowledge and don't stop chasing for your bigger gains.

Probably this isn't the right way to view things. I know it's the biggest attraction for new entrants into crypto but you have to be realistic about your chances. Right now, doubling means $100k in price so that's a huge milestone and many people believe THAT will be the ATH we achieve, and then you've to wait 3 to 4 more years for the next cycle, if it comes. That's still a lot of gains of course but doubling? It won't make most people rich:)

With the caution that you'll save sime of your investment and or buy back, of course. Otherwise you'll be tremendously missing out on important stuff like this. You witnessed first hand how awesome this coin is and you also get to reap the benefits, there's no point to stopping now, a wise investor is someone who saves more and spends less.
no selling. I can get the meaning of your selling bitcoin and then buy it back. what's that for? make some contribution to gas fee? HODL and I promise that you won't regret for it!
any altcoin won't defeat bitcoin.
Dude, you can't just tell him to not sell his hodling lol. If he wants to spend it on something let him do it. Long as he's buying back, there's no point in us prohibiting him to sell his earnings.

Waiting is always good for an asset like Bitcoin.  What I want to say here is that maybe Bitcoin will drop in price and buy back at a lower price than waiting for a huge amount of money to pump up to $ 100k.
If you use the money cash out from Bitcoin to invest in some other assets, you can bring a better return than Bitcoin.  Between $ 50k and $ 100k is just x2 while there are dozens of altcoins out there that might give a better return.

You can do this, but the problem is that there are very few altcoins that have experienced a large drop in value; instead, the majority of altcoins are increasing in value.

And holding onto altcoins would be better because the price of an altcoin can become 5 times of its value in a year but that is very unlikely with bitcoin attitude this point.

It's entirely up to you, and it all depends on the circumstances. In my opinion, coins should be sold and purchased as much as possible because it keeps the market alive. However, you should trade carefully and make fair decisions.

This advice still has its usefulness as this is the first time that bitcoin has gone up to this price, it takes too many years to have such a price and you try to demand more about bitcoin, sometimes a counterproduction will happen and you don't know when the price will return, bitcoin has become so heavy in the next step up in price, trying to hold it would be ineffective. While the altcoin is moving very gently and has more upside opportunities, shitcoin or top coin all have opportunities during this time

Out of the 10,000 or so altcoins out there, less than 1% have any real usage. The vast majority are kept alive by their promoters, so that they can profit from pump-and-dump cycles every now and then. Once the coin is no longer suitable for this pump-and-dump strategy, they will exit the coin and those who hold it at that point will lose all of their capital. If you want to invest in Cardano or Binance Coin, I don't have anything against these coins. They have real life usage and future potential. But that is not the case if you are making an investment with coins such as Anyswap, Mithril or Rewardiqa.

Indeed, only a few coin projects have any real use. thousands of other altcoins are just speculative with no clear purpose for what they are made of.

I agree with your opinion about investing in Binance Coin (BNB), because BNB has real users and has an important role to play for the Binance Exchange. Coin Exchange is popular today with many other projects joining Binance.

Bitcoin remains the main thing, selling bitcoin can be done when it is profitable. Buying and holding is also very good if you have a target that is bigger than the current price.

First of all, it is in your control. Everybody has different strategies in this market. both are equally good, if you feel that what you get from bitcoin is worth selling, just do it. but if possible, just part of it to find other alternatives such as new altcoins which currently have quite a lot of potential. from there you will get a hefty profit too.

if you don't sell it is also very good, because reportedly @elonmusk will buy more bitcoin which will make bitcoin prices go up again like the end of last year which still impacts until now. the effect of @elonmusk will be felt again if the news is true, and right if you don't sell it.

everything now depends on you because who has you and who will experience it yourself, so be confident to be able to determine the next step.

everything now depends on you because who has you and who will experience it yourself, so be confident to be able to determine the next step.
My advice is that you better save it and only make sales according to your needs and that also if you really need it the good news that has happened will multiply the new profits once you made the previous big profits.
I think there are still doubts about shifting your profits to altcoins except the top altcoins, and if bitcoin is more profitable, it's better to stick with bitcoin as a whole.

Wow you bought bitcoin at a low price very low compared to the present price which means you have really earned alot profit from holding the bitcoin you bought, for me I will suggest that maybe sell part of your bitcoin and then look for a coin which got a very good potentials which  has been really doing well for a long time, buy it and hold along with the bitcoin you got because that new coin will surely fetch much profit than bitcoin since it's still low in prices, bitcoin will surely keep pumping but will fetch you profit depending on how large the amount you hold.

you are very fortunate to have bitcoin in your wallet, now you can become a new rich person, the choice is yours, you want to choose to sell it is good and choose to hold is also good, but my advice is that you better sell and buy other potential alt or new alt that's a very good idea. good and to double the money

Yeah.. this is like the worst advise at this point. Rather than "doubling" your money, you will most probably end up losing all of your capital. What happened to XRP is just a trailer of things to come. In the coming months was can expect more and more altcoins to go down, similar to Ripple. The best thing to do is to hold on to your BTC, without diverting any of it for the purchase of shitcoins.

Yeah selling all your bitcoin for altcoin is really a bad decision and should be avoided. Either keep holding all your bitcoins as it is the safest investment and this is not the peak of bitcoin. Also note that if you still want to buy some altcoins then you can keep 50% of the money in bitcoin and invest the rest 50% in the good altcoins.

To be honest, it is your decision to be made because it's your own money after all. Investing in altcoin is not bad either however since it is a lot risker than Bitcoin you must perform proper research. What makes good investing in Bitcoin is that profit is more certain because even if it dumps, later on it will come back and grow even more you can imagine, to put it simply it is better on a longer time frame. Altcoin, on the other hand, can make a quick profit but also the risk of losing your investment is high that is why the decision must be made by you. And if you are going to invest in altcoin make sure that it must be on the top listed ones cause newly created coins were way riskier.

A few months back, there were some really good options in the altcoin market, such as Cardano (ADA) and Binance Coin (BNB). But these coins have gone up steeply during the last few months, and most of the experts now consider them as overpriced. So the best option is now to hold on to your Bitcoins and to make new investments limited to BTC. Also, looking for a good altcoin to invest in is like searching for a needle in the haystack.

I read many people online say I will hold or I will sell but very rarely a read about numbers and plans. personally I believe 150k will be this cycle top so I start selling all at 100K. next I hope history will repeat and I will be able to buy back at 25-35K and wait for the next bigger ATH after 4-5 years. but even if I don't I will not sorry because I already have about the same amount normal people earn 30-40 years working in my country.
so that's it right or wrong I will quit at 100k. in addition people start to be too optimistic about price grow, institutional adoptions etc. I believe soon time will come to be fearful:)

Long-term holding of Bitcoin is a more appropriate way to make money, and daily price fluctuations will not affect your mood, because you always believe that Bitcoin will eventually rise. For short-term speculators, it will be miserable. The price fluctuations of Bitcoin will always affect your sensitive nerves (this is especially true for contract users), and the resulting losses will be even greater.

Watch out for the taxes!!  Once you sell your Crypto assets for FIAT, it can be taxable unless you reinvest it.  Hold it or use it for investing / collateral / diversify in altcoins.  But never spend it.  IMHO.

While some Alts can give you multiple times returns there is a risk involve with most of them particularly the one that are new and less established.
Btc, on the other hand, is reliable investment as it is much more popular, widely accepted, well known and has many users.
I think you should not risk your investment by converting it to altcoins.
Btc has just started it's journey, soon we will see $1m btc

We are not going back to 10! I fail to understand why for some of you 10 is such a magic number. How about 12, 14 or 20? They were all important levels at some point

I don't think we'll see sub 20 unless the US economy enters its own bull run.

Selling Bitcoin should only be done in an emergency or for pleasure. An investment in altcoins can also be made with FIAT. You should always take care of your projects and see if they can deliver what they originally promised. If, contrary to all forecasts, you do make a profit, you should make sure that you realize the profits and rebalance your portfolio so that the overall risk of your portfolio does not become too great.

Maybe not, and I don't consider holding bitcoin for a lifetime. I have different meanings about investment and that pretty simple to me, my goal is to make money out of it. If I bought Bitcoin at $30k and seeing it now reaching $60k, I have to sell it right away. Why? Because that is my goal, we never know what will happen by tomorrow and neither sure that it keeps moving high. And I just take the opportunity that possibly we can't see it back again. In fact, we can reinvest again if we would like.

Congratulations for gain a huge profit. Now i think its all depends on you. I always says everyone that crypto is a place where time shouldn't be targeted. Your wish should be targeted then you always will be in profitted. That means don't set a selling time because proce could be flactuate on that time that is why when you saw you are in a good profit and you are happy with your profit and you can't hold it for a long time because you need money in a very recent then take your profit. Because you saw you are in profit and you need money after 1 week that is why you thought okay then wait for 1 more week but after a week price gose down and you make a lose. So try to take decision smartly. Because if you can hold it for long time then hold but if you can't then take profit when you think you got your profit.

Follow your guts don't ask people if you wanna sell or not because it's always up to you it's your money it's your asset no one really know what you really want to do in your bitcoin well it seem that you already have knowledge and you need to learn more so that you don't need to ask other's people opinion most of them will tell you to sell and other's will say hold it until it will reach $100k price so it's balance and if the price goes down then not your day but don't worry it's always come up with another surprices.

I think that at the moment it is very bad to sell Bitcoin, because if I would stop making a lot of money, Bitcoin is starting with new highs, I never recommend buying when they are high, but I do not recommend selling when there is a strong suspicion of a good bull run, for now better is Hodl at all costs, there is a lot of emotion in the people, some are waiting for Bitcoin at $ 90k, there is even talk that April 14 will be one of the times that there will be more volatility in the market due to the options market of Bitcoin, but it may be that by April 14 there will be bitcoin with new highs, nobody wants to miss the best movement of Bitcoin, so for now it is not good to sell.

Altcoins can give you money, but for now when Bitcoin starts to go up, altcoins go down in price, if you like altcoins a lot, I recommend that you buy them but in the next Bitcoin correction, but not for now.

Selling BTC for alts is somehow risky as BTC is deflatory and has over 60% of the total market capitalization of the crypto space, meaning it is more reliable than any other token or coin out there. It is a wise choice not to sell entirely but hold a large portion

A lot depends on the behavior of the bitcoin price in the coming weeks, and if there is confidence that the bitcoin price will remain at current levels, then it is really worth selling some and buying altcoins that have a good growth potential. Only it is necessary to take into account such a factor that with a potential collapse in the price of bitcoin, the fall in the price of altcoins will be even higher.

I agree that we still have to monitor the Bitcoin price for the next few weeks, if Bitcoin are still a side away like now there is no problem selling
some bitcoins to buy altcoins. Because if we buy altcoins too early, it can be very risky, especially that buying altcoins that have low volume is
highly discouraged. Because the price of altcoins is very much affected by the price of Bitcoin, we should find the right time to buy altcoins.
Don't rush investing in altcoins, if the price of Bitcoin falls, the price of altcoins usually falls even further. So my advice for now is still holding
Bitcoin we have. Watch Bitcoin movements for at least the next two weeks.

Sell a little by little if you don't need much money.

You take the profit and you still keep some bitcoin in your possession. Until the price goes high, you rinse and repeat that strategy so every up, you get to sell bitcoin at good prices.

But it's best if you have left a portion for long term hold.
You are putting it all in bitcoin.  Even though the value of bitcoin is at a high level and it has yet to show signs of going down.  Congratulations on making a good profit with this great decision.  Especially in this situation, my treatment would be to sell 30% to future altcoins in the form of Link, Dot.  Dot has made efforts to change the new ATH and is highly regarded as the version of ETH in the future.  While Link has creativity, mutations are a giant store of energy to explode.

What are the alts you've been planning to put those profits that you had gained in BTC? Its good that you had able to buy into those low levels and considering on the current
price then you had really make some nasty profits on there.

Risk management what matters here because not all would have the same thinking about their investment. If you do look that there are some coins which are worth
to invest on then go ahead. As long you are aware with the risk on investing on alts then its a good thing.

Sell your btc while price is still on peak and dont waste up that opportunity.

No time you sell your Bitcoin is waste because keeping the coin will be more preferable than selling at this point, even purchasing alternative coins is another tangible plan which can equally lead you into profit if really you purchase the one that within interval of three month's it can come up to the market, but as a beginner I think the Best option is to transact with Bitcoin, which is buying Bitcoin and hold for future purpose, looking at Bitcoin from another perspective its quite understood that Bitcoin don't have a fixed price, which the coin  purchase today  with $100,  within some months the value of the coin will no longer be affordable with such amount, so coins is good to buy and hold.

Hello. My opinion is that Bitcoin is not worth selling at all, at least most of it. As trite as it sounds, it is a super-asset that can explode in price in a matter of minutes. Bitcoin - now and Bitcoin of 2017 - are different coins. Now famous people and funds are actively investing in it, with a fixed amount of this asset, it will not be enough for everyone. I am sure that the price of Bitcoin will surprise us more than once, both by going down and by frantic ups. It sounds like a hamster philosophy - but I don't want, having sold Bitcoin for 60K today, wake up tomorrow and find the price of 160K, 560K .Good luck everyone.

As far as I am concerned I would recommend that you hold for a little longer. I think this is not yet the right time to reap your profits - provided you only invested a very small amount of money. I mean several hundreds of dollars worth of bitcoin should give you a decent amount, but not enough to cover you for a long time. But if you have invested very big then by all means, try to reap the profits and then reinvest again once there is a dip. I would think that you will be able to secure so much money out of it.

price will definitely continue to rise this year, so if the Bitcoin price hasn't reached the target we set. Don't panic and just HODL our Bitcoin, because
the target we set will definitely be achieved seeing Bitcoin's extraordinary performance this year. Then the good news about Bitcoin did not stop coming,
so the price of Bitcoin should be able to go up much higher than its current price.

Absolutely, if you have nothing important to do with the profit that you can get, why sell it when there's a big chance that your holding will grow more as time passes by. We already know that bitcoin itself is profitable, just look at the market as of now, even the altcoins are getting higher in terms of value. But it depends on you if you really want to sell it just hold it for some time. You should make a good decision when it comes to selling your BTC, you might end up regretting that afterward. That is somehow better if you only sell half of your assets just to make sure your capital is safe and make the other half grow as it grows with bitcoin's price.

70k is my goal where we can say that you can sell your Btc and small crash may be happen.

I would say neither, its bad to sell when the bull cycle is far from over. With Paypal making Bitcoin available for buy and sell and big corporations flooding their money into Crypto Market. I would say HODL for a little bit be patient cause the rewards can be much greater if you manage to hold out this year.
Yes, selling when the bullish market circle is yet to be over is not good advice but if the investors were among those that bought when the price of the market was around $6000 there's no problem in selling now because tomorrow are not promise cause don't the next trend the market will pose.

Its always up to you what to do with your bitcoin and should you feel you've made enough profit and your okay with it, then by means you should sell but, just a portion of it. Bitcoin isn't a currency you just sell, you should sell with a purpose and selling bitcoin with the sole purpose of buying altcoin doesn't feel so good with me. I barely agree to that fact even if, it seems to be a season for altcoin. Its of note that, altcoins depends on bitcoin for its growth often and as such, its the events in the bitcoin market that plays out also in the altcoin market. It is an investment for sure but, selling bitcoin to buy altcoin don't sound okay to me.

This depends on the purpose for buying this bitcoin in the first place with the amount you claimed that you purchased, if the reason is to sell immediately to buy other altcoins so be it but I think you should be wise in any decision you want to make as regards this the final decision is what do you want because this is your money.

There is a lot of speculation considering the best time to sell. One thing is for sure; if you sold at the top, you did well. Now, looking forward, the cryptocurrency sphere seems to be recovering from its 2018 lows, having seen a recovery of more than 300% for Bitcoin’s all-time-low price.

This recovery may hint at an upcoming, new bull market that may increase the coin’s price to new highs, which could mean that selling at this moment may not be a good idea, but that’s up for you to decide.

However, i think also be facing a new drop in price, since the recent recovery was quite sudden and volatile in nature. In that case, selling right now would help you buy back later on.

Sounds more like short term investment if you decide to cash out now. But, if you want to earn possibly about 10× what you have made, you can still hodl for long term. Because Bitcoin is recognized on a daily which keeps pushing it up. Anyways you story sounds Like a win win situation (irrespective of what move you make)

The most intelligent decision to do now would be to cash out at least a part of the holdings. Almost all the investors are holding on to their coins, hoping to receive much better returns in the next few months. If that is not going to happen, then there will be a mass dump and it will crash the prices. The correction phase may last for a few months or even years. If you have the capability to wait for 2-3 years, then you can hold on to your coins. If that is not the case, then it won't be a bad idea to sell some of the coins now.

It is a good time to take profits but if you do it and the market rises to $90000 you will have made a very bad choice, a lot of institutional investment is waiting for the price to rise, you have to take into account your need to withdraw some profits, the news that are dating are positive.

see now the price of BTC has increased very high, if you think you have gotten a profit, my advice is to sell now and wait until BTC corrects and buy at a low price. don't be too pushy to hold if you really need money. enjoy and use bitcoin casually

Right now the problem is that everyone expects Bitcoin to rise. But let's not forget the fact that the prices have already rallied by 500% during the last 6 months. Till now, we didn't had a major correction. I would naturally expect a major correction, when the prices rise by this much in such a short duration. That's the reason why I posted that selling a part of your coins won't be a really bad idea right now.

With the little experience am having I believe this is the best time to buy bitcoin and not to sell I believe bitcoin price is still very low and is better you accumulate more bitcoin there are lots of people that have being saying bitcoin price is high and dey are giving advice to people to sell there bitcoin. Serious bitcoin price will pump massively in the next few months to come and people that are planning to sell or people that sold already will definitely regret why they sell there bitcoin so early.

Actually bitcoin is that position that you can sell or buy more. Totally depend on you . Because bit coin will rise more . So if you can hold hold it for long time, but you can not hold it for long time can sell it right now.

I think you should take out "intelligent" (No disrespect meant). You can never truly tell an intelligent decision until the result is out. I'm not saying that we should or shouldn't cash out part of our holdings. But wait, what if I cashed out an then, BOOM! The headline reads that BTC just went 100% up? At that point, you can't really count my move as intelligent but "Cautious". What I advise is that we make cautious moves. But then, remember that without risks, nothing is achieved. TY

if you want to buy now for bitcoin, it doesn't matter, we know the price is high and of course you need enough capital if you want to buy. still, even though you buy at a high price, it will still be profitable.

but if you have had bitcoin for a long time to sell it is also not a problem because it has made a big profit, but if it is better to wait until the price reaches ATH at the end of the year.

Seeing the current price of bitcoin, you can sell now if you want to protect some part of your capital and buy on the correction point of bitcoin. Many people are still wanting BTC to break out and reach the 66k.

So I bought BTC at £9000, made a nice amount. Is it a good idea to now sell this and move that money into altcoins? or should I  sell half BTC and buy back in after alt season is finished?

What do you think?

Diversifying your portfolio by simply allocating a portion of your BTC to Altcoins is actually a good idea to balance risk and reward in your investment portfolio. In that way, big losses will be avoided when things went wrong and you won't regret selling most of your BTC in the future. Moving a portion of your BTC to buy another asset on alternative coins is really a good move for you.
