WHY?

Why did we start working on this project? Let's look at some facts:

1. More and more people decide to install solar panels on their house, looking to reduce their electricity energy bills and get closer to an energy independence status.
2. More and more electric vehicles (cars, scooters, bicycles) are hitting the roads, every day.
3. The main amount of solar energy is available during daytime hours, when the domestic demand is low (people being out for work, house lights and appliances turned off).
4. The highest road traffic is also during the daytime. Electric vehicles are more likely to need charging during this time too.
5. The number of public electrical chargers is low and it's unlikely that the national electrical grids will cope with the increasing demand for electric cars charging.

WHAT?

What is this project's purpose?

We would like to see people being given an alternative option, regarding the way they generate and spend the electric energy which they produce (e.g. solar panels)
The VoltPotCoin concept offers the possibility to "store" the energy excess, in a digital, decentralised form so it can be used later on. Just like having a "Virtual Battery" available to you, anytime, anywhere...
Transforming Energy into products/services and vice-versa is another important thing to mention.
Minimising the energy transfer losses, decreasing the risk of national grids overloads, reducing the carbon footprint, are just some of the other targets VoltPotCoin project aims to achieve.

the concept is not new in this forum. but the more project like this, the better. and most of the old projects related to renewable energy actually didnt materialise so if you have the capability to turn this into reality, why not? just hope it will not end up in trading only and forget the main mission for this project.
btw, in what countries are you going to implement this project? because it is better to have an example where your platform is up and running rather than give a vague answer, which most of the time, it means, you will not implement your actual objectives

We work on a mining pool. It's been tested at the moment.

VOLTPOT® platform is available worldwide. We already have few hundreds of users registered (as clients or business owners). Obviously, we know that there is still a long road ahead, and it will need a lot of effort and resources to make more people see the advantages offered by this platform.
Once we manage to achieve this, the VoltPotCoin value will be given not only by the exchanges markets rates but also by its use on Voltpot platform (might be adopted by other platforms too, who knows...). Despite VPC presence on exchanges markets is important, this is not our main goal.
We want to see VPC being actively used by people to trade, store and transform (in services/products) the renewable energy they produce (at a domestic level) via platforms similar to voltpot.com

56000 blocks were mined and 2.3 Gh of power in the network - what's the point of mining your coin? You won't find anything on the processor in a week!

Antivirus alerted to Fuery.D!cl trojan in the windows wallet download?

We've been surprised to see a massive interest to mine VPC in the last week since we've started advertising it. Some miners rushed into it and the network speed and difficulty increased exponentially. In the last 24-48hr it looks like the things settled down a bit, but it will take a bit of time for network speed and difficulty to readjust. (target difficulty checkpoint is at aprox. every 560 blocks)

I don't know though if the difficulty or H/sec will go so low to make it worth solo mining with a CPU. Mining in a pool might be an option. It would give the possibility to use GPU instead of CPU (more cost effective).

I would suggest for you to wait and keep an eye on it in the following days, as the block time at the moment is also huge (almost 1 hr).

Antiviruses will likely pop-up such messages with different type of threats being mentioned. The Windows package was compiled based on the Github source code mentioned in the main post.
If there is any doubt regarding the Windows wallet security, please don't install it. You can compile it yourself, based on the source code available on Github.

In the future will try to be in touch with the main Antivirus providers, in order to have our VPC Windows Wallet package included on their white list. It takes time and money (a lot) to get certifications from Microsoft and other software developers.

I see that as for now the network speed went down to 0.8Gh and diff is also down to about 79 (from 1.2k). I'm doing at the moment 350Khs with my GPU in voltpot.org pool and get paid regularly. I was thinking of what you said here... Just by doing a bit of internet research, mainly on the main search engines, it's easy to see that the "renewable energy"-related subjects are not on the top of the search results. Looking backwards though there is a clear growing interest in the past 2-3 years, based only on the keywords statistics. Or the cryptocurrencies need strong, dedicated communities surrounding them in order for them to count. That "renewable energy" community is just in its very early stage, but it is clearly growing.

When 20-30% of the houses will have their own solar panels and 40-50% of the cars on road will be electric, it's not hard to predict that a strong "renewable energy/EV" community will raise. Inevitable, different crypto projects will start being accepted by these communities and not only they will not fail, but I think they will be truly a game-changer. I would say that 3-5 years from now on, you will see more and more "renewable energy" projects breaking through and be successful.

VOLTPOT.COM platform is working as a complex B2B and B2C "tool". The marketplace is an "open" one, like Amazon.com, where registered users/companies can open their own "online shop" within Voltpot's platform. We were focusing on implementing the VoltPotCoin within Voltpot's platform lately (including moving from PoW to the more eco-friendly POS version). So we didn't have enough resources left to get more users/companies selling their products on Voltpot's marketplace in the past months. See-Saw Rewards Mechanism has been activated

Block rewards received by the staker and winning masternode vary based on the amount of coins held for masternodes vs amount of coins available for staking on the network. Allows for variable rewards based on the network needs, to keep the network services (Masternodes) and the security of the network (Staking Wallets) evenly distributed.

If the percentage of the coins locked into masternodes collaterals decrease, masternodes rewards will increase to stimulate users create more masternodes. If that percentage goes too high (e.g. many masternodes created) the masternode block reward will decrease in order to stimulate more coins to be used for staking.

This is a Mandatory Update

VPC Core v1.3.0 is a mandatory update for all users.

This release contains new consensus rules and improvements that are not backwards compatible with older versions. Users will need to update their clients before enforcement of this update goes into effect.

- Internal (Core) Changes

Version 2 Stake Modifier: A new 256-bit modifier for the proof of stake protocol has been defined.
It is computed at every block, by taking the hash of the modifier of previous block along with the coinstake input.
To meet the protocol, the PoS kernel must comprise the modifier of the previous block.

Block index batch writing: Block index writes are now done in a batch. This allows for less frequent disk access, meaning improved performances and less data corruption risks.

Eliminate needless key generation: The staking process has been improved to no longer request a new (unused) key from the keypool. This should reduce wallet file size bloat as well as slightly improve staking efficiency.

- GUI Changes

Removal of zero-fee transaction option: The long term viability of acceptable zero-fee transaction conditions is in need of review. As such, we are temporarily disabling the ability to create zero-fee transactions.

Show latest block hash and datadir information tab: A QoL addition has been made to the Information tab of the UI’s console window, which adds the display of both the current data directory and the latest block hash seen by the client.
