Post by: nwaniphinehas on March 17, 2021, 05:37:18 AM
Hello, hope you all are doing well today. Well, can someone kindly let me know what "Estimated value" under "Balances" mean please?
Apparently, its way more than my invested capital and changes in amount live. Is this what my investment is worth at the moment? If so, why cant i take/claim/sell it?

Thank you guys. I await to benefit from your experience using indo exchange

As its name suggests, you can see there. Estimated value is the actual value that you own based on the field value of all the currencies that you have in your account. Estimated values may be in dollars or BTC depending on country and account type settings. You can also change it. For example, you have 0.5 BTC at the time that BTC is worth $ 100,000, which means your estimated value is $ 50,000.

If you have a few more altcoins there, the estimated value will be converted to 0.0x BTC at the altcoin's market price. That BTC will be added to the amount of BTC you own ~ 0.5 + 0.0x BTC. So, your estimated value in USD would be 0.50x * 100000$

Apparently, its way more than my invested capital and changes in amount live. Is this what my investment is worth at the moment? If so, why cant i take/claim/sell it?
It can be explained as follows: You invested $ 5,000 at the time of $ 50,000 BTC, and now your BTC goes up to $ 55,000, so your estimated value goes up from your original value. If you cannot sell them please let me know what service or transaction you are using. We need a better understanding of what you are using for detailed instructions.

Hope my explanation can help you better understand it ;)

I'm not exactly sure what you mean but there are accusations against indodax, may be that's why you are not able to sell it?

Basically the estimate value on your balance is calculated with total coin that you have on exchange. Maybe you don't count small altcoins that you have before and only count btc which is the biggest one. And also, don't forget the gap between buy price & sell price. That maybe explain why you cannot takes all the estimate balance.

I'm a bit confused with your question but like others said its an estimated value and it changes every time, also some coins when you check in your wallet has value, but you can't sell it because of few reasons like its an old coin, or a fake token, this thing might happen to you, and that might be the reason why there is an estimated value but you can't swap trade or sell the coin, make sure your coin is also in the correct chain, maybe you miss something like swap to a new coin also. I hope this one helps you, if you are still confused don't hesitate to ask questions good luck!

I won't trust much the estimated value cause sometime the exchange value is only reflecting the bought price or market buy but when you check the spread the price is different and the sold price is impossible to sell immediately rather than bidding on a good price or market sell.

But technically that how estimated value works on exchange. Its the value of the tokens bought and not sold.

Estimated value or estimated balance is the amount that your portfolio (in one account has at one single point of time). Single point of time means the second you visit your account balance page. The estimate value/ balance will be changed in seconds as the crypto market is operating 24/7. Very fast and continuous operations on the market.

If you refresh your account balance page after 2 or 10 seconds, you will see a different value. I believe you will see different balance as price will not stay at the same price over time. It is more truth if your portfolio has a few coins, not only one. The more coins you have in your portfolio, the probability to see they have unchanged prices after 5 seconds is smaller and almost impossible.

You can sell your coin with orders on the exchange order book. Fees for your exchange orders will be charged different for taker and maker fees. If you do a Buy now or Sell now, you will be charged higher fee as you are a taker.
