Title: 65MH+ with 110W - Mining on RTX 3070 Laptop
Post by: MiningNerd on March 18, 2021, 06:27:53 AM
Looks like i have to switch to NVInspector to get more. ;)
Afterburner maxed out @0,7V RAM +1500

What did you get?

Don't expect to get same hashrate of a desktop RTX 3070 hashrate on laptops, RTX 3070 on laptop is mobile and less powerful like discrete graphic cards so 61mh to 65 mh on RTX 3070 is good enough

Sorry, dont know how to include a picure properly.
That "imgur" link shows already 65,2MH @ 112W

Im just limited by MSI Afterburner.
Afterburner just goes upto +1500 RAM and not under 0,7V core.

Hardware will do more i think.
Have to try another software later. :)

There is a mode in MSI Afterburner settings: "extend the official overclocking limits"
I do not remember the exact name, but I think you will find this setting.
Why overestimate hardware frequencies to get a small increase in hash rate of 2 megahash?
This will lead to faster damage to the laptop due to overheating.

check wattmeter, if gpuz showing 112w, it should be more than 150-180w the real power including all component in the laptop

mining on laptop isnt particulary big improvement efficiency over desktop card

Yes, but only available for AMD GPUs.

WOW seems like even 68 is possible:

Just wonder how long before it fails.

:o

Maybe 3070 mobile use different memory timings?

on rtx 3060 max-p at max memory clock you  got 46-48mhs and consume 98watt from the wall, is acceptable for full hardware mining but bit worried for long term, ended up with artifact or something  lol

I have ASUS Rog RTX 3070 laptop and I also get 65MHps no problem but I am scared to push it to its limits. Has anyone tried pushing laptop 3070 to its limits even? I am reading and all I see is people pushing it to 68 but maybe the card can give even more hashrate.

Greed kills man dont forget it. 65mhs is very good result in 2021 for laptop.

I got some invalid shares when i push it over 1800mhz.
I have MSI GP66 and MSI GP76.

Maybe i will try again when i get my laptop cooling stands.
Right now i am fine to stay at 1500mhz.
Works perfect over days and i am happy with over 580kH/W

I still wonder about clocks.
Looks like even 3060 desktop works with that clocks.
No chance to get there with my 3060ti or 3070.

Did they change timings or is it just a new batch of ram?

You will definitely write what will happen to your laptop after 6 months or 1 year of mining.
A few days of mining is a very short time to draw conclusions. It's very interesting how your laptop will perform in the summer.
What is the warranty period for your laptop?
I didn't find a photo of the bottom of your laptop case, but if there are no vents there, the cooling pad's performance will be lower.

You are right, of course. Few days saying not that much.
But i am not worried, i think temperature is ok.
Warranty is 3 years.

I have messured the hottest spot. On my models its right about the keyboard (metal part).
I dont run the fans at full speed.
Hottest spot is about 40C/105F.
Air from the fans almost the same.

Dont know whats going on inside, but i bet my 3080 and 3090 are got more f*cked up in the summer. :)
Ambient temp is 22C.

Here you can see the cooling:

Can you remove the back cover without damaging the warranty seals?
It makes little sense to measure the temperature of the case.
At the initial stage, there should be no problems, it is very interesting what will happen to your laptop in 3 months. I'm sure the temperatures will increase if there is no additional cooling.

Yes i can.
There is a seal but never got problems with breaking them

MSI also allows to change the cooler on desktop card an so on.. even if there is a seal, no problem.
Already got a new 1070ti on warranty. Seal was broken.

That the point why i only use MSI, Asus and EVGA. They dont care about.

If you can, then it is better to remove the back cover for better laptop cooling. The laptop can be installed in the shape of the letter A.
In the summer, you can use a household fan for additional cooling.
Warranty services work according to a specific plan. When there are many warranty claims, the service center workers will pay attention to all the nuances.
