Title: Taxes in Canada
Post by: waywoos on March 18, 2021, 05:31:22 PM
Am I able to write off my electric bills and hardware?
What is the rate we have to pay taxes on.  Asking for next years taxes as I sold recently

My understanding is just capital gains for hobby miner. Can't write anything off unless a mining business.

Yes, in proportion. Dedicated mining rigs 100%, if you game you have to adjust. You can claim electricity, HW,
real estate, maintenance, any expense related to mining. The tax rules for working from home have changed
since covid, YMMV.
But there's more. Mining is treated as income but you can claim capital gains on the crypto after you mined it
until you sold it.
