Most of the Indian marketplaces like IndiaMart which claim they sell new ASICs miners are most probably a scam because as far as I know it's not really easier to import ASIC under such higher restrictions placed by our customs. But still it's quite possible to import miners and if someone has done that, they would be eventually charging higher fees obviously. I browsed through some miners last year through OLX but we couldn't guarantee they are indeed legit and thereby we would receiving the products.

If you have the idea of importing miners without getting through customs i.e using someone to buy ASIC for you outside India and bring them along with a friend to India, you can very well buy the miners from Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Marketplace > Goods > Computer hardware (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0) section. Most of the sellers are legit and you can use forum escrow for physical deals while buying them. On the other hand, if you are trying to import them legally by ordering it in a international site, I am very much sure you will never receive your package as there are various recent reports stating the seizing of Hardware Wallets which are being imported to our country.

If you are not willing to take the risk, I would suggest you to buy Nvidia's GTX Nvidia 750 Ti or AMD Radeon 7990 from Amazon and mine Monero. XMR is ASIC resistant and hence you can convert them to Bitcoin later which is much easier way of mining and accumulating bitcoins rather than taking the risk of importing or buying ASICs in India.

We had a discussion regarding the importing of miners last year (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5271685.0) and user jzk120 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2693256) was sailing in the same boat as like you of importing/buying ASIC miners from Alibaba. I think you can contact them for any help regarding this.

BTW keep us updated, as many have been trying to purchase miners and your post could help everyone a lot.

Thanks for the detailed information, I am going for ETH mining using 6x 1660 Super for now.
I will keep you updated if I find something related to ASIC.

And yea, I find like most of these are scammers on India Mart.

I am surprised you met the people on Indiamart, as far as I have tried no one seems to be interested in dealing in person nor has a video of the product which makes it even more suspicious.

Care to share your experience here

yes there are many sellers in India, especially in North India,  you just need to keep looking for them, google them, check on youtube.  and just make sure you don't do a deal immediately talk to them couple of times, ask them if they have a whatsapp / telegram group - join that group and watch that for few days and once you are more than 100% sure only then deal with them.  this market is completely based on trust and hence you have to be double sure before dealing don't rush ... also ask the seller if they are willing to meet in person and share their office address.. just stay away from ppl who offer dirt cheap rates and 3 day delivery... reality is miners are not cheap and deliveries take weeks

Cryptocurrency mining used to be something you could do easily, but those days are long gone. Today, whether you’re mining Bitcoin, Litecoin, DASH, or a host of other cryptocurrencies, the most effective way to do so is with dedicated hardware known as an ASIC miner. And even then, it’s only really for professionals with masses of capital to invest upfront. In a nutshell, mining is running complicated calculations in the search for a specific number. Whether it’s an ASIC miner or a GPU mining rig, mining hardware must run through many calculations before finding that number.
