Title: a Blockexplorer with the possibility to define a date as well
Post by: joe1234 on March 19, 2021, 03:49:19 PM
Hello Forum,

Is there any "Blockexplorer" with the possibility to define a date as well, e.g. 2020-12-31 (for the case I should know the value of my Bitcoin-funds at the end of year 2020) ?

Thank you!

Joe

I'm not entirely clear what you are asking.

Blockchair allows you to search and filter transaction by specific dates or date ranges - https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transactions
Walletexplorer will show you the total balance on an address after every transaction, so you can scroll to specific date you are interested in read off the total balance at that time - https://www.walletexplorer.com
The Blockonomics wallet watcher allows you to input a number of addresses to watch, and can then generate graphs which will show you the total balance on those addresses at a specific date (free account required) - https://www.blockonomics.co/views/wallet-watcher.html

I think OP is asking for some kind of yearly filtering system where he will know what balance his wallet has during the period which I believe no blockchain explorer currently have that kind of feature. Mostly what they will have is just the total Bitcoin sent and the total Bitcoin received on that specific wallet address besides that you would have to manually add and subtract all the transactions you have on the period you are looking for.

Instead of looking for a block explorer, use a crypto portfolio manager like https://coinstats.app. Once you add the address whose balances you would love to track, in the dashboard, you will see a graph with balance in fiat amount vs days. You can point to a specific day to see the value of BTC in fiat on that day.

That would be a really useful feature too but I think the only way to do that is to have your own spreadsheets and accounting. I had a huge problem with it too and I think you need to start doing that properly if you want to get your taxes right later on. And yes it will become a big problem if you don't settle it now!

I found an interesting thing in blockchain.com which might be able to help you out.

Look a random transaction, for example this one:
https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/a41b7e9f480dce23c91e0aceedb77cf2ab11e54bdb6bca69b3ef45f55f636e24

You can see that the amount of BTC transacted is 0.21614626 BTC, and if you click it you can convert this value to USD now: 12k USD.

But if you scroll down, you can see the value when transacted: $ 1506.

This is not exaclty what you are looking for, but I think it is similar.

I think Blockchair.com has the same feature too, however this could be hectic if OP has lots of incoming and out going transactions in his address. He would need to pick up the value of BTC from each in transaction and subtract any out going BTC up to a specified date he's interested in.

Blockonomics has an export feature using which you can get transaction in a spreadsheet. After that you can get rowwise balance also using simple excel formulas
