Welcome!

Can you tell more specific what you looking for? If you mean about learning about trading, for beginner it's quite hard. So I'd advice to learn about Bitcoin first to understand what's exactly you're doing.

For beginner I think you need to know basic thing the difference of Banking system and Bitcoin [1] After you understand it you can read book Mastering Bitcoin created by Andreas Antonopolous [2] and Bitcoin whitepaper [3]

But, if you want to trade with altcoin... then it's up to you, it's more riskier IMO.

You could try using demo account [4] even though the demo account and actual trading are different, at least it's better rather than jump into actual trading without knowledge.

Hi!

I was just mainly looking for learning how crypto works like the technology behind it. Then maybe learning about how coins like bitcoin, ethereum etc work with the technology etc.

Thank you for the reply :).

I' m in for learning! Thanks for the thread. Any suggestion which coin to trade? Better question, how should one build up their Crypto portfolio, are there any golden rules maybe? I would assume more coins can diversify you well.

Binance academy has a lot of basic articles for beginners explained in a short and simple way.

https://academy.binance.com/en [you can replace 'en' with your language, they support many, but the best read is always 'en' version)

You can choose a topic, difficulty and reading time:

This will be a good start.

I understand from your response that your are not looking at trading for now and if I'm correct, I still think you need to put your head down in the beginners section and then for bitcoin discussion

The blockchain Technology, right?
There's a lot of learning material online, both free and paid. YouTube is also a good place to learn from if you come across good channels.

On top of what @Tytanowy Janusz  suggested, the following links could also help you learn more about blockchain, crypto and trading in general

About the where to start question, this forum has proven to be a very good resource for learning bout cryptocurrency (especially Bitcoin) and it is structured in such a way to allow you focus on your interests; beginners would likely frequent this section as it contains information that is relevant to them, as you acquire more knowledge you can switch to more niche boards like trading, mining etc.

Also any advice in general is greatly appreciated!

I find this guide (https://www.cfainstitute.org/-/media/documents/article/rf-brief/rfbr-cryptoassets.ashx) very useful especially for those who want to begin and have no idea where to start. Its a good read since there's not that much technical terms so its very beginner friendly. It's basically a condensation of all the basics of Bitcoin, Crypto and Blockchain which I think should really be the first thing to learn especially for you to be more familiar on terminology. Jump from one board to another, you can learn a lot here just by reading from the threads in a day.  :D

The best way a beginner can start and have a knowledge about Bitcoin or others cryptocurrency is through the Bitcoin main webpage bitcoin.org and https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page but watch Youtube videos before you understand how crypto scammers operate is not advisable.

There's no such thing as "Bitcoin main webpage" or Bitcoin "main" anything.

I am also a beginner in BTC. Are these youtube videos reliable? There is so much video out there. Do you have a channel you would recommend that is trustworthy? Thanks

This.

I have been following Andreas Antonopolous' videos for about a year now and it still fascinates me on how he composed and explain the complex technicalities and concept of the bitcoin network in his talk and book publications. Look closely on how he intricately explains the technology without having any bias of the information he provide.

Aside from Andreas Antonopolous, though, Jameson Lopp also provides great articles and videos regarding crypto in general.

Andreas Antonopoulos' Bitcoin for Beginners is probably the best beginner introduction series as he explains the concepts of Bitcoin(decentralization, self-custody, censorship resistance, etc) without being too overly technical. The whole playlist is probably like 5 hours long so that should keep you busy for a while.

Binance academy would be a good start for you to learn about the basics.

And next would be to learn about the wallets that you should use and what are the pros and cons of it and as well as the disadvantage using an exchange wallet as storage.

I am also a beginner in BTC. Are these youtube videos reliable? There is so much video out there. Do you have a channel you would recommend that is trustworthy? Thanks
Yes, if it is Andreas. You can count on him, he is one of the most popular guy in the bitcoin community.

Do not just watch a crypto channel that you might encounter because many of them are shills and unreliable.

I also like Andreas videos, watched them a few times in the past when I'm still new and don't really understand much. That being said, reading the book is a good experience as well since you can skip and read the parts that you're really interested in any time you want to. Not to mention most of Andreas's books are available for free (at least the previous version), so there should be no problem if you can't buy the books.

Things could get tricky if you want to learn about subjects other than Bitcoin though since there are new terms here and there. Other than Binance academy, I guess following the latest news on Twitter is a good choice if you don't want to miss anything new, such as "liquidity protocol", "liquidity farming", etc.

If you mean you want to learn more about the forum. You should focus more on the beginners and help section. Here you would get advice and learn rather quickly.
If you want learn about blockchain technology and trading visit
https://blockchain-university.teachable.com/
There are a couple of good crypto books out there like bitcoin for dummies, digital gold and so on. You could also watch YouTube videos, subscribe to a crypto channel. In a month your crypto knowledge would have improved.

For learning the things about how crypto works, people can not help to understand all things in a post here. They just can suggest some videos or articles.  And already some has done it.

So personally I think in this case youtube is the good source to learn. Also it would be better if you search them with your mother language.

So try to follow the sources already posted, and use google or youtube to find those articles / videos. Good luck.

There are so many suggestions that have been conveyed here, you just have to click on which reference you like and are easy to understand, now there are many articles that provide crypto for beginners so you don't have to worry, you just have to look and learn in depth, it will be much better and understand what do you mean by you.

And also not only cyrpto but this forum you should know better how to guide because this is where there are often a lot of discussions that contribute to crypto so both must be understood in detail so that what you are looking for is maximal.

Honestly, this is quite a common question nowadays from newbies, and of course nothing wrong here. But if you use the forum search button then you would find lots of answers and suggestions. The main thing is you have to study a lot to know about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It's not very easy like uses. Simply we can use our Bitcoin, but learn about it deeply is quite complicated. Seems there is a couple of suggestions that would help you to learn about cryptocurrency. Just try it and spend more time on the forum.

The OP is interested in learning about bitcoin and the technology behind it as well as how bitcoin and cryptocurrency work. That's actually the specific purpose in his second post in this thread. Binace academy actually provide a lot of knowledge for beginners about the basic of bitcoin, it's just that new users' interest in reading is decreasing. Google also keep a lot of information about bitcoin if the OP is willing to look for it. So far not many misinformation has been found when someone typed "What is bitcoin". People will be directed to relevant site about their desire such as bitcoin.org and Wikipedia in my opinion.

For me you should start with crypto terminologies. Starting any new stuff the first thing is to understand how the communicate and the names given to the various parameters used in addressing the various components of such tool. Get familiar with the various crypto currencies and trying to understand the different kind of wallets available to crypto currency owners. Lastly before going into deeper aspects of crypto currency learn how to save guide your private key.
