Title: When I first heard of bitcoin
Post by: Zilon on March 21, 2021, 09:30:45 AM
Let me share my crypto journey with you it was my second year on campus when my closest friend told me about bitcoin. It sounded so odd to me. He told me it was a digital currency and one of my questions was how would a coin go digital without having a physical symbol. I saw him as someone opened to online scammers I could remember trying to discourage him to withdraw his fiats from such scamming process but he had a very strong believe in the system that he had to buy more coins. This got me so upset because I felt he had been charmed by online fraudsters little did I know he was securing a future for himself and future. Engaging in a process even his decendants wouldn't seize from benefiting. This happened way back (2017).

This was the first time i was having a problem with my friend and the first time we misunderstood ourselves. This was someone i shared everything i had with. At some point we had to pathways because we no longer pursued the same goals and our conversations wasn't the same any more. Each time he came around he was always talking about bitcoin and this got me so upset that I asked him never to pay me a visit again. No knowing I was ignorantly fighting the future currency that would put smiles on many peoples face. In my own ignorance I had to block all means of communication between myself and my friend.

As the years went by bitcoin was tremendously increasing and newer coins were been added to the market but I was still not convinced this was the actual progress we all have longed for. I could remember in 2019 when bitcoin hit almost $10,000. I was astonished but saw it an easy way to make money. I always had the notion that nothing good comes so easy so I sticked to my belief system not knowing I will have questuons to answer from my unborn children when the time comes

Today I will say I regret my actions. Am trying so hard to cover up the leackages and the mistakes I made in the past. Trying hard to studying various coins to see as many I can acquire before I get to 35years of age. I will end with this we can't fight innovations we only adapt to changes

You spent 2 years (2017 to 2019) and in 2019 you still did not belief in bitcoin. From which years you began your bitcoin adventure? 2020, is it true?

I don't see how late you come to bitcoin as the last bitcoin will be mined in 2140 many years onwards to go. 4 more years, you will see many similar stories that people heard of bitcoin in 2020 and 2021 but did not believe in it and will join the market in 2024 or 2025 when bitcoin is $1 million. They will say they regret like you now.

You did not make any thing wrong. Easy comes easy goes, it is the truth on this planet. You will verify it with altcoins, DeFi, not bitcoin.

At 2017, Bitcoin already had a good amount of history which could serve as research materials for those interested in learning about it, I guess you dismissed it without considering the pros and cons of it, as a good number of people do, up until your attention was drawn by increases in price. We're still in the early stages and anyone getting in now is still in a good position to secure a position in the currency of the future.

Trying hard to studying various coins to see as many I can acquire
I would advise you prioritize the quality of the coin rather than looking to acquire as many as possible in search of the next Bitcoin.

A lot of us made similar mistakes as you.
I might as well have gotten into this story earlier but I was as skeptical as you are.
I also made a mistake when I sold some bitcoin too early and converted some bitcoin to altcoins that lost value.
We should not look too much at the past but turn to the present, to what you can do now, and in the future.
I also advise you to trust bitcoin and view this as a long term investment.
Relax, there are still many magnificent things ahead of us  ;D

Weird seeing people regret not purchasing BTC at $10k when I know I've been there when BTC was worth 100x less than that. I think we've all had moments during which we regretted not taking another decision than we did, but at the end of the day this is how we learn. Through mistakes.

A lot of people are questioning new stuff, especially when you have not been mentally programmed to accept it. Movies usually mentally program us to already accept new tech without being skeptical about it. Since MSM has already impregnated the idea that BTC is bad in our minds, chances are someone will question or even refuse Bitcoin from the start rather than check it out.

Firstly, go easy on yourself since it could be anyone, truly, that would have behaved the same way as you did when your friend mentioned about bitcoin, because technically speaking, we are living in a world with traditional form of money for thousands of years that anything like these would look like a scam scheme in the first glance and that's why it's totally normal to be paranoid. You dont have to regret it either, many alt coins are still in their low prices which have had much bigger ATH in 2017 so you can acquire them, and bitcoin hitting $50k this year has surprised many of those who looked at it positively as well!

It is very interesting to read your story about your experience before really believing in bitcoin. As an educated person you must be able to do research before deciding whether information is wrong or not. It's rare to find people who don't care about investing in the current era of digitalization and it's not uncommon for us to see them so sorry after knowing the truth.

I always had the notion that nothing good comes so easy so I sticked to my belief system not knowing I will have questuons to answer from my unborn children when the time comes
Many people before you never even believed in bitcoin and its future potential because they thought it was a ponzi scheme that could hurt a lot of people. Economic expert also argue that bitcoin is a threat and gold investor think bitcoin is a bubble. But what they are doing now, they come in drove and buy bitcoin in bulk and leave their past opinion behind because they know that people's trust in bitcoin has increased its price so much. They wanted to get involved and make a profit and they started to think something positive about bitcoin.

If you come because you want to make a profit, then study trading and investing. You're not too late to do that by now, it's just that you've had too long of proof that bitcoin and its innovation are something people expect. So do it now and get the profit.

I decided to give bitcoin investment a trial towards the end of 2019. when I saw this old friend of mine I felt so humiliated by his appearance although he was very nice to me as usually. But starting the bond all.over again became a crutial problem

I struggled with this ideology for so long. I grew up with the mentality that one had to put in excessive effort I other to make real money and that nothing good comes easy. This hunted me for years until I began to see what bit coin and other crypto currencies was doing in the bank accounts of many. Then I decided to give it a trial. Its better to start late than never

Bitcoin is not even close to being done. We are currently experiencing more and more bitcoins leaving exchanges and heading for what many assume being cold storage wallets for long-term holding. With such a limited supply, the demand keeps increasing, and we can see how it affects the valuation. The Lightning Network looks promising and can become a workable scaling solution. There is a lot to look forward to. You made the mistake of turning your back on Bitcoin a few years ago, but that doesn't matter anymore. Try to find a way to get involved in the industry to earn some coins here and there.

People start buying bitcoin as much as they can to get the most bang for their buck. People want to buy it and hold it for the long-term. This and the entry of institutional investors is exactly why bitcoin's valuation is higher than ever before.
Don't ever think you're too late. Many of us joined later than we would have liked but that doesn't mean we should ignore the idea altogether. You are still young, and you can make up for all to enjoy your early retirement.  :D

I think people needs to be more aware of Bitcoin, in my study I found out that if their is any other means in which bitcoin can be trance to offline, it will be great because not everyone likes trading or making use of things that relates to money online because of the aware of scam and the risk Involved.. if their they could build a stationary place cross each unit as its with banks, I think it will go a long way because people needs to start enjoying bitcoin just like I’m doing right now.. For example, We have sports betting centers where you can place your bet, some persons who do not have an access to internet can still make their stake with out been scared of loosing their money.

Well, I can't blame you because that was your instinct, you don't even know if this is a legit cause' it is really hard to what to believe on the internet and you never know that crypto especially Bitcoin would grow this much. I'm pretty sure you, I, and those people who have did the same mistake regret this decision. But let's just move on besides, it's never been too late to enter the market anyway. Sure you miss the opportunity to earn coins when it was cheap but it will never be too late, theses digital currencies are volatile so there will be a chance for you to buy when it dips so don't worry. You can still catch up to your friend though if you will work hard and will not miss all the opportunities ahead of you.

So have you done any initiative to contact your friend again? He would be happy to hear you that you're also a bitcoin believer now and an investor if you had a catch up with him. Your story and doubt isn't different from many people that had doubted bitcoin before. With the proliferation of online scams, it's the first thing that they'll ever think of. But that would only happen if they don't do research before concluding anything about it.

I first knew about bitcoin when it was under 1k$. From that time people are continuously saying that bitcoin is like as balloon. Still they are saying like that. But Bitcoin is moving on it’s way. It does not care those peoples.

But the smart people who believed that time and invested they are more than 50X from that time. ( I am not also the smart man though) :) But yeah we should not believe any crypto blindly.

There has always been a thing to regret or be sorry at to a lot of persons when the topic bitcoin is mentioned amongst crypto enthusiast. The most important thing is, are you making any progress in the field at the moment? If yes, then your doing just okay. It might be slow and all, it might seem like all the years and most benefits are far gone but then, are you profiting now, are you spotting and utilising opportunities,  if yes then, your doing good and all you need now is to stay the course and improve.

Many people actually also have these regrets. At first knowing about Bitcoin, we will always think negatively because this is not a kind of thing that we can accept easily. Moreover, it is not physically existed.
I also felt the same, only focusing on what I can afford and get from Bitcoin. Moreover when at first hearing about BTC, there was so much negative news about it. And it is likely forbidden in my country and also my religion. But now it has changed. Bitcoin is very precious and this is legal. I am also interested in not only BTC but also altcoins that are of course having god value and potential. Now, crypto becomes part of my life.

To be honest, I am one of the friends same happened with you, I am the who introduced Bitcoin before to them, and it was the same year as yours, the year 2017.
I think they are 5 friends of mine, I keep talking Bitcoin on them and I think some of them also created their own bitcointalk account here, and I am sure they are not active now.
To summarize, only 1 left out of my 5 friends who still into Bitcoin and I believe he owns some Bitcoin too. He is also a trader now, probably a successful one.

I am newbie and trying to figure out how this coin is getting this much high value everyday! Nobody knows how much it's going to gain! But one thing i understood that when something great is evolving in world and people are getting more and more interested in it than you should find out it's potential. Nobody can predict future and everybody does mistakes!

The thing is we take ourselves for so cheap and granted that we imagine, to make even a little bit of money we have to work as hard as a horce runs, which was also a thought of mine. That money can't be made unless one mixes their sweat and blood, but world isn't so rough. Life's not a bed of roses, but it's not a bed full of cactus either, life's kind of mixed up, you have to balance, gotta work smart and not hard, and put efforts in the right place, and you will reach positions you have always dreamt about!

This was the first time i was having a problem with my friend and the first time we misunderstood ourselves. This was someone i shared everything i had with. Each time he came around he was always talking about bitcoin and this got me so upset that I asked him never to pay me a visit again. No knowing I was ignorantly fighting the future currency that would put smiles on many peoples face. In my own ignorance I had to block all means of communication between myself and my friend.

So, of course, everyone is focused on the story of money.

You threw away a friend—apparently for no reason but that he did not conform to your opinion of a subject that you didn’t even know anything about.

Few friends are true, but a true friend is worth more than money.  And a friend who informs you about a good way to make money is worth money, too.

Today I will say I regret my actions. Am trying so hard to cover up the leackages and the mistakes I made in the past. Trying hard to studying various coins to see as many I can acquire before I get to 35years of age. I will end with this we can't fight innovations we only adapt to changes

You only have regrets about the money?

This is why I say that few friends are true.  You did him a favour.

It is very strange that 2017 did not lead you to bitcoin, but rather scared you away. At that time, Bitcoin was talked about from every iron. Your friend was probably much better informed..
And I feel a little sorry for you for how easily you can lose friends. Probably that person was not your friend. Or you and I have different concepts of friendship.
In any case, no one should prove anything to anyone. If someone doesn't like something, it's their choice. You didn’t like and didn’t believe in Bitcoin, these are trifles. But the fact that you just let people go from you is very regrettable.  >:(

The past is our lesson and sees ourselves still learning and having a good life, this is also some of the blessings that we forgot to thank God. We need to consider that whatever misses us in the past, it's not really meant to be with us. Now that you found another chance, you are given a choice again whether to grab some opportunities or forget all about it again. But whatever happens, make sure you will not regret whatever path you choose today rather make every lesson in your life inspiration on whatever things you wanted to be in the future.

What different business people from ordinary people is their mindset. So it is only natural that ordinary people do not immediately provoke the extra effort to find out more information about how they make money from the opportunities that exist. IMO, knowledge and opportunities are sometime very expensive so don't waste the opportunity because it is very rare to come for the second time. I mean, at least take a little time to learn how money is made.

OP forget your past, and start something new and get another chance. Don't worry about passing opportunities, bitcoin is more than just a valuable crypto asset.

I think that I was the same as their members here, too strange about Bitcoin, but curious to know and understand more about it. Moreover, I was looking at some people who were very lucky in the crypto, being rich beaus of it, and at that time, I had my biggest expectation to follow them. Year, following is not good enough because we only focus on what the other people are doing. that is why, i decided to go through myself, learning more about crypto and getting often and often to be involved in this forum.

I saw it on v2ex in 2011. After seeing it, I spent two days looking at the information. I think this thing is very reliable and worth a try. There is no change in life, at most I can talk more with my friends. The BTC in my hand has never been traded, but it is regarded as a pension insurance. When I am old, if the BTC has not gone bankrupt, I will take it out for retirement.

Coins are accelerating everyday and every hour due to the marketcap of cryptocurrency, and note: if the total number demanding for cryptocurrency or depends on coin you are enrolling into is higher than supply, it's speed up or bumped the coin to another status point, so coins don't have specific time be grown from my perspective, but I don't know for other who received signal via cryptocurrency trading, looking or watching the movement of cryptocurrency it's obvious that no one is over handing crypto network.
