Title: Decentralized Social Platform
Post by: pwnrmancan on March 24, 2021, 11:43:20 AM
I've seen storage platforms like Siacoin and I've always wondered what it would take to create a completely decentralized social network.

Who can lead me the the right developers?

There could be an integrated storage platform for publicly hosted content and there could even be a currency built into the platform that's issued in a similar fashion to btc except instead of proof of work we'd want some sort of proof of ID system that doesn't require users to stake in but somehow makes it difficult for one person to claim hundreds of accounts. This seems to me like an impossible task but you guys always amaze me.

PS pwnrman is my original account, I just can't find the password ):

Decentralized Social Platform

https://hive.blog/ is one. Original Steemit. Latter they fork out of Steemit when Tron gang took over. I dont think you will find any decentralised social platform project that got any further then them. https://lbry.com/  is not classic social platform, but a decentralised "youtube"

It will be a child p, gore, illegal drug sellers paradise. There is no such thing as decentralized social media. Even if you somehow manage to air it, you'll have to use a domain name and the governments can take them down too.

That leaves you 2 options: an .onion website which nobody visits or a computer program. (not even a mobile app)

Either way it won't ever work.

They closed silk road. You think you can get away with it?

If you are saying, "no I won't let them post illegal stuff like that" then it won't be a decentralized platform.

Check mate.

IIRC, I've seen some projects that have said to be decentralized social platform and giving the users incentive whenever they use the platform.
But I also saw them no progress so it's going to be a hard project that has a niche being a decentralized social platform/media.
